I just put this on the rebranding thread without seeing the above two posts, I think it’s more relevant here:

During the paper review on bbc an hour ago the sports reporter mentioned our rebrand and showed one of the papers, didn’t see which one. They did say in Bristol there is a Bristol Bears Festival every year ( not personally heard of this) but it’s a gathering for Gay people, the presenters did have a joke and say there might be some confusion.

     #WhatHaveWeDone

Tapping into new markets obvs. I’m pretty sure their domain names will be secured for a very reasonable fee (for them!)

Timing wise this should be after the season ticket prices have been announced which might explain why Gavin Marshall (Bristol Sport Chief Financial Officer) will be at the top table alongside Lam & Tainton. They said that ST prices will be announced "mid-April" presumably banking on the title being sewn up before the Hartpury game - indeed if we beat Nottingham on Friday night and Ealing lose at Doncaster the next day we will be assure the title.

Should be an interesting night - as the last couple have been.

What interested me though was the chorus of confidence from a decent number of posters on there. Has it not occurred to them that as and when Bristol go up, they may finish bottom next year. Certainly possible if they are so easy to score tries against next year

I thought the same. This year has been tough and assimilating almost an entirely new team into the squad over the summer to get t o where we need to be likely even tougher. It’s hardly been a breeze has it even with the quality in the squad - to see teams in the bottom half of the Prem of such quality is a scary prospect.

Next year is going to be a slog of a season, no doubt about that in my mind.

Got the win, just. Hard work tonight, Yorkshire were very negative and their players were down every two minutes with ‘injuries’ . Fair enough one player had to be stretchered off as he couldn’t walk, but apart from him I have never seen this cynical style so expertly executed. They came to stifle us and it almost worked. No tries scored by either team, small crowd given as 7778, not the greatest of evenings for Bristol Rugby but a win all the same, they all count, even ugly ones. I really though Yorkshire, who looked pretty devastated at the end, were going to nick the win though which would have been cruel.

The northerners did get a Penalty Try though, but it was an awful game to watch.

With almost an entire new team arriving in the summer Pat Lam has certainly got his work cut out if we're going to avoid relegation next year.

Similar model to the football in terms of recruitment, I know they have had there fingers burnt in past but they will need a bit more premiership experience

I’m more of a Bath then Bristol fan (due to work commitments), but is it possible Bristol could line up with a whole new starting 15 next season??

Not quite as obviously Steven Luatua will be one of the mainstays of the team. Joe maybe? Siale?

Correct, it seems to me unless there is a lot of investment, Bristol will be promoted with exactly the same age old problems of last time, piss poor defence, weak scrum and cavalier attacking attitude.

Haven't we already announced 15 (or close) new signings for the 2018/19 campaign?

Fair play to Ealing again. Another BP win away at Jersey which was a potential banana skin!

Looks like Bristol may well be pushed all the way in not being able to secure promotion until the 19th round of fixtures!

It's going to (not quite) go to the wire. We were at Ealing last week and a bloke we were talking to said (pretty much) that they were a Sunday club that had become too good. Their ground is great, and I think they'd have to move ,  but culturally they dont want Prem rugby.

FWIW I think Bristol will turn it on against Ealing in a couple of weeks. Biggest game of the season, they simply have to impress. I didn't see it, but apparently Ealing didn't actually look up to much at the game at AG in October though they've obviously had a great season overall.

Ealing weren't great at AG as you say but we were lucky to beat them! Admittedly the team has grown and gelled since then but it will be a huge test, make no bones about it. I'm going up with @The Bard and several others for a good old fashioned day out on the train and expecting to get to Ealing's ground for the England game.

If you want some entertainment on Sunday, Bristol v Bedford is going to be a cracker 1st v 3rd highest points scorers in the league and a crowd of over 9k anticipated.

If not it's also on sky sports

You jinxed it! What a terrible game it was!

Basically a first team on Friday bar Luatua and Cortes, going to be interesting to see if Cardiff play a stronger side as like us they can't qualify.

I'd imagine the coaching staff don't want the players rusty going into Bedford and Ealing although it is still a risky tactic as injuries now wouldn't be good

Exactly that - Lam said as much I think when the team was announced

37-32 away at Doncaster for the reserves today, good win overall but still lots of poor defending

Hugely more experienced line up announced for Friday though v. Cardiff. We really need to stop conceding so many points though.
