  1. And the Aussies haven't then ever I take it? Plus its not in the rules, if the umpire hasn't given him out then he doesn't have to walk until otherwise.. plenty of batsmen have done this in the past and they are perfectly in their right to do so.

Definition of cheat  'act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage' hence Broad is a cheat.

  2. Just saw this on the England's Barmy Army Page on Facebook...

'The Courier Mail just is not learning, today they have no pictures or comment about Stuart Broad and instead say "the player, who thrives on the notoriety of openly cheating."

Lets hope they keep up this pathetic campaign as clearly it is helping him play better.

Sunny here this morning so should be a batting paradise once our batsmen have negotiated the new ball and we get the last 2 convicts out.'

Can only agree, be great to see Broad get the final 2 wickets in the first session and really stick it to the natives :D

    Well he did openly cheat......

  3. Sadly this is yet another example of the ineptitude of Bristol and Bristolians. We seem to lack so many things in my opinion. The nerve, desire, drive, ambition, to go that extra bit in getting what we want. We have leaders in business and local authority who are complacent, naieve, over confident, who constantly get held up in their plans because they don't have that hard edge needed to succeed. Our own Mr Lansdown has probably been swept along by his bullish partner to make their business what it is.

The place is a backwater with a distant memory of past pioneers, we are living  in a modern world with a slow moving apathetic city. Most of our more influential people are not from these parts as shown by those opposing any new proposal, and their extra drive wins the day. I sometimes wonder if we are an experiment taking place on how much shyte a local population will take before rising up, god knows the city has had enough kicks in the tabs, with funding for this or that being taken away right at the death.

Because of our apathy, we've ended up with that prat in red trousers doing his best to close down the city.

So until we're willing to go that extra bit for what we want, (I know I've tried) we'll get what we deserve, sweet FA. And with that sweet FA we'll have some extra green party activists who are going to be getting those extra jobs created by winning the green capital bid. Mark my words there'll be even more of them shortly, still a tiny minority but with more fight and desire than the locals.

Think you're being massively negative, Bristol is a wonderful, vibrant place to live.

  4. A scaled down compromise following the club threatening to leave the city, and a ground that unlike the original plans, will never hold test cricket.

    Great

Quite pleased about that, think test cricket should remain at the traditional grounds, not ones who cough up most to the ECB.

  5. My own personal opinion...the reality is, that he'll most likely go in January.

Perhaps the idea of getting used to it now, rather than later, so that it doesn't come as such a blow, is better.

I read a quote from JET today in one of the national papers...can't remember which one, where he said something along the lines of not getting many games at Arsenal and he'd like to prove himself at a higher level again.

Stockhausen also spoke of it again in todays BP... where he said Baldock would come into his own when JET is gone and him and Taylor would provide goals at this level... not sure I agree with that though.

After only half a season with us ? Am hoping that other clubs would want to see how he fares over a full season before taking a punt on him.

  6. The club is very lucky to have fans like some of you guys. In what other branch of the entertainment industry would the departure of the star turn be greeted with a shrug of the shoulders?

The only thing that might attract fans to the Gate at the moment is JET. After several seasons of dross City finally have a player with some semblance of star quality. If the approach of the club really is to sell off all the crowd pleasing assets to repay Lansdown's self-inflicted debt then it will be a very long time before the crowds start to build again.

Having personally blown the best chance in decades this club has had to establish itself at a decent standard in English football I'm amazed that SL gets as much support as he does.

I agree yet in the current OTIB fanzine five out of six fans polled had Waggy as best player only one other, Alex, voting for JET while in the season player ratings he's down in an incredible 10th !  Maybe he just isn't as popular as some of us think ?
