Last night’s “sold out” Ashton Gate?
TinMan's left peg replied to Wokingham Red's topic in Football Chat
Other clubs do the resale thing I think (Arsenal?). Can the club take a cut of that so everyone’s a winner? whilst I’m fully behind all the promotions for kids (they’re the next generation of support etc) I do think there’s an issue when we are “sold out” and there are people who want to come but can’t get a ticket yet there’s hundreds of empty seats everywhere. -

And we all thought Preston was our bogie team! Is this our worst record? -
Singing a Song for Cameron Pring? - Thoughts
TinMan's left peg replied to You Do The Dziekanowski's topic in Football Chat
Keep it simple … Cam Pring is a s***head he wears a red and white hat he plays for Bristol city, and he is a very nice chap he really hates the Rovers , he wishes they were dead and if he sees a gas head he kicks ‘em in the head ooohhhhh….. -
Don’t know why but I’m more angry about the way the woman’s team are being managed than the mens. I can at least see some logic on the men’s side. The people i feel most sorry for are the staff and the long-standing die hard fans ( I’m very much a part time one over recent seasons only for the women). All that effort to get up, unbelievable progress with crowds and facilities etc just to chuck it all away after a feeble 1 season fling

I can’t understand the thought process. In the men’s game there’s at least a theory that being a yo-yo club allows you to accrue money from TV payouts and parachute payments. You then gradually build your club until it’s ready to stay up. But that strategy doesn’t make sense in the WSL. All the money is in the top flight, basically nothing in the championship. Getting back up might take ages. There’s only 1 relegation spot so we only need to be better than 1 team. And it’s not like Lansdown could have watched the first half of the season and thought we’d more than likely survive as we are. Plus investment is relatively peanuts in terms of cost compared to the men. Therefore it can only be that they either don’t care, are incompetent or actively want the women’s team to fail.

Unbelievable. That’s the club accepting relegation half way through a season when we have one of the best average attendances in Europe. They literally don’t care

Quite depressing today. Really poor at the basics. Gave the ball away repeatedly, couldn’t string passes together and then lacked quality when we did make chances. The most frustrating thing was the lack of fight and urgency given how important the game was. The way West Ham celebrated at the end showed they understood the significance. As others have said though, if / when we drop out of the WSL the blame lies firmly at the feet of the board. It’s essentially a dereliction of duty. A very bright future was there for the taking but they don’t seem bothered

It’s not a problem. I’ve sold Wally several vats of invisible paint to coat the pillars with.

This is mind blowing ! Just when you think they’ve stopped doing anything hilariously s**t they go and outdo themselves again. Incredible. There cannot be another club in the country like them surely.
-
Agreed. There’s a risk here if the club loses too many senior players in a short space of time that the culture and morale etc shifts quickly and unpredictably. I always felt LJ and Ashton made a mistake doing this (Pack, Fielding & Wright one year, Smith, O’Neil, Flint the year before).

Aggghhhhh so poor, thrown it away

Big game today, even bigger one next weekend - hope we sell a few more tickets for that. Feeling a bit more positive now we’ve finally made a signing.

This is very sweet, I wonder if it lead to any lasting romantic relationships

4th Round vs Forest - Ticket details released
TinMan's left peg replied to myol'man's topic in Football Chat
Got 2 tickets, 1 charged a booking fee and the other 1 didn’t. I’m assuming that’s because it was an under 19s membership and they don’t get charged? -

Henry Winter, The Times - West Ham match report
TinMan's left peg replied to ChippenhamRed's topic in Football Chat
Exactly, it’s all relative. If West Ham finish top 4 and draw Madrid in the CL there’ll be lots of patronising prose written about them too.
