  1. I really doubt it was disrespect from the Owls fans, they were silent for the whole bit before that. I expect they just didn’t hear the instructions. Actually thought it was silly of the city fans to then boo them, that was more of a distraction from the gesture
  2. To me it really felt like we (the club) grew on him too. I think he genuinely came to love it here and got more enthusiastic as time went on. Shame we’ll never know what he could have achieved
  3. Possibly a pathway back now for Pearson with his namesake gone? He’s looked a proper player when I’ve seen him play
  4. I also know nothing about Williams but on the face of it would seem to be history repeating itself with Lee Johnson mark 2. If he does get the job I’ll wish him well and give my support etc but it’s a massive massive risk isn’t it
  5. Totally legit thread. It’s galling to see 4 of our former young stars that we developed playing in a premier league match for clubs that many of us remember being “smaller” than us not so long ago (whilst at the same time I’m pleased for / proud of them). We made huge fees from all of them and the justification for losing them has always been that in theory we’d reinvest and continually improve. Right now it feels quite far from that
  6. Interesting. Is this speculation or have you heard something more? The new guy is still clouded in mystery isn’t he?
  7. I remember when we thought it was petty amusing when the gap was able to buy cigarettes. Was really funny when it could vote and buy alcohol. It’s since been to and graduated from Uni. Now it has a tedious junior management job in insurance to help cover its rent. Over the next few years we can look forward to the gap settling down and getting married. Time to shop for a hat as Cilla would say. (Note all of this is only funny because the fewers genuinely think they are on a par with us in all respects).
  8. Yeah he’s excellent. Just checked and he’s only 18 so must have been fast tracked up the age groups? Senior call up must be coming soon.
  9. wow! Madueke and Elliot really look the business don’t they!
  10. Interesting, that’s a shame. Attitude as important as talent at this level.
  11. Pearson is an interesting one. He was really eye catching, especially in the first half, cramped up a bit in the second. He’s 21 so not sure if it’s harsh to have expected him to make the first team already (or maybe I’ve become conditioned to think that because of Scott?)
  12. Seemed to be up on the right of Yeboah mainly
  13. Very unlucky to lose that. We were the better team for much of the match, their keeper making several saves in the second half as we pushed to win it. Frustrating to give away a last minute penalty but we more than matched them. Really liked the look of Kadji, Pearson and Nelson.
  14. Going to be a tough season I think. Some nice play, especially in the first half but shaky at the back to say the least.
  15. I’d have more sympathy for this point if 1) I’d been persistently standing all match rather than about twice for a few seconds 2) he’d spoken to me about if first before dragging me onto my young son.
  16. Loving the autocorrect of codg er! Haven’t thought about him in ages!
  17. An old Kodjia behind me dragged me down by my jacket hood yesterday after I stood up for about 5 seconds during a moment of drama (Yeboah’s “foul” at the end). This was without any attempt to ask me to sit down nicely (or otherwise) his first instinct being to lay a hand on me. He knocked me off balance so that my elbow struck my son’s head. The rule is against persistent standing, not any standing. It’s a football match for God’s sake!
  18. So you’re saying no way?
  19. Totally agree. This winds me up no end. It’s also stupid , why ignore 100+ years of history and make your sport look like some sort of recent American franchise. I wonder if there is a fans campaign to get the bbc / sky etc to stop doing it
  20. Watching this back emphasised something that’s great about Sykes which is end product. There’s tons of wingers / forwards around who have decent technique, speed etc but often they end up down blind alleys, over hitting crosses or blazing shots over. Sykes more often than not finds a team mate, gets a shot on target or draws a foul. He’s a bit of a diamond isn’t he? The other thing I noticed having missed some of the 2nd half (I was at work) was how did we not get a penalty for that blatant foul in the 2nd half??
  21. Haven’t seen us this dominant in the league in ages yet we are 1 down. Crazy game
  22. Weird start, the better team but 1 down. Swansea look rubbish
  23. Can we vote for Roberts? He was even better than Knight
