I agree, I don't think they would have wanted the Haye fight until at least next year in an ideal world but there's a dearth of available, credible opposition in the second half of the year- presuming AJ beats old man Wlad. You can't go from a fight like that back to b class fighters. Imagine he announces he's fighting Pulev at the o2 after 90k against a legend at Wembley, both him and Hearn would get slaughtered. Matchroom's best hope will be Parker for a unification next I guess but the feeling is his team doesn't want that fight yet, he even walked away from a mandatory shot at AJ last year. Haye is obviously a potentially massively dangerous fight for Joshua, but who else is there? AJ certainly doesn't seem the sort to duck a fight and it's nailed on that barring a miracle from Bellew, Haye will be calling him out tonight.

I'm exactly the same but I fear it's a forlorn hope! Haye has performed the miracle of making Bellew likeable. You're right, Bellew's only chance is taking Haye deep, but to do that he's somehow going to have to avoid an entirely unlikely amount of leather coming at him from a faster, more agile, more skilled and more powerful boxer.

He really does, and who can blame him. Interesting theory from him that Hearn is using Bellew as cannon fodder ahead of an AJ fight. There's no doubting Bellew's heart (apart from when he capitulated against Stevenson) and it's how he's got where he is, but unless David Coldwell has performed a sudden miracle he is ponderous and one dimensional and he's getting ktfo.
