We also have food vans outside our stadium?

I'm all for getting different types of food at games, especially independent companies. Beats soggy chips and tasteless pasties.

Something I'd actually praise Rovers for, clearly bloody good if they need to make social posts about it too!

Thank you! I did think the same when I read the original post tbf, but couldn't be arsed to comment. The Jerk King is great food , the more clubs that do this the better , football food does not have to be shite.

Feel free to show me multiple stories where City are/were 12+ points off the play offs and around half way through the season where we are labelled as "promotion chasing", "play off contenders", "something special" etc etc etc.

I think you may be reading far, far too much into poor journalism.

There was certainly Rovers bias while big Rovers fan Mike Norton was editor-in-chief at the EP for many years, he hated City with a passion ever since his South Bristol school days.

Go on then, show some evidence :)

I suspect he had better things to do that showing Rovers in a good light and City in a bad one. Chris Swift reported on Rovers back in the day, a Kidderminster fan, but, as you would expect for someone who went all over the country covering matches for a team, he became a bit of a fan, whoever was covering City at the time, no doubt was the same.

When I was growing up, Robin Perry covered Rovers and Peter Godsiff covered City and one would assume they both wanted their respective teams to do well and that may have been reflected in their journalism, and that doesn't necessarily that they were constantly waving the flag, just that they cared about their teams.

Anyway  , as a sizeable business within Bristol there must have been at least a few City fans working there to counteract any bias, I mean, I know we've got more fans than you and all that.....

  4. I saw an older chap have a heart attack at Twerton, we were shouting for the paramedics while the game went on, he survived and became a good friend who became part of our little home gang when we moved to the Mem, he lived to a ripe old age and we regularly gave stick to about making us miss a part of a game when he had his heart attack. We loved him dearly and I never thought I would be so upset over the death of an 89 year  old man I wasn't related to. Yes, it wasn't good to see a man have a heart attack, but it happens. If I died at a game , there is no way on earth I would want it stopped, unless we were losing of course :)

In fact I've just changed my mind, I want to die at Ashton Gate while we are losing to you with 5 minutes left, ideally just after I hear the 'match abandoned' announcement over the PA system  :)

I get what you're saying Miah, but in regard to the EP, I think my case remains solid.

We shall have to agree to differ then. I don't think it shows any City bias btw, but I bet for every 'pro' Rovers story you find, I could find a pro City one. If I could be arsed that is, which I can't :)

At lest the paranoia here isn't as bad as in Glasgow, it really is off the scale up there.  Rangers actually trying to get a ref banned from their games atm . The same ref who, in fairly recent years, I heard many Celts describe as a Rangers fan.

Even the sodding Gas are bang at it now!! As I've said above I wish for Tony Bloom not Steve Lansdown.......is that careful enough for everyone? It's not going to happen but that's my wish and people keep telling me to be careful what I wish for (hint: it's not very original to say that on here!!).

How many "wise men/women" can one City have?!!

    OOWMIB

  7. I'm staggered that so many fans want the Lansdowns gone. Would outside investors bring more more chance of the Premier League? Maybe. Would that bring more long term stability? Based on what has happened at other clubs, probably not.

If you asked most football supporters what they want in an owner, wealthy, local and a genuine fan, would be pretty much top of the list.

Be very, very careful what you wish for. Having said that, if some foreign asset strippers have an interest in you- I'm all for it!

Yes. Not surprising that their attitude is often on the sunny/optimistic side, given the positive spin from the local media on almost any story involving them. Contrast with the more negative slant reflected in most of the City stories. I'm sure it's not me. Is it??

Go on any Rovers site and you'll find accusations of media bias towards City. Go on any Celtic or Rangers site and you'll find each accusing their local media of bias towards their rivals. I'd hazard a guess that this is repeated in any two  team city.

Did you and your club stick with the rugby fans when you effectively stole their ground off of them during a time when they were struggling financially? Did you bugger! You all rubbed your greedy grubby hands together at getting a ground on the cheap without a thought for the rugby fans. Even made the rugby chairman a life long president didn't you? Your fans celebrated with much joy about the rugby club falling into financial trouble which meant you could con them out of their own ground. This is of course after they allowed you to return to Bristol.

You essentially stole that ground. Your club then tried to claim the ground isn't a war memorial (it is) and you tried to sell it off and have that war memorial demolished to be a Sainsburys. Your fans didn't give a crap about that either. Didn't stand with the locals who didn't want a Sainsburys there either.

Your club also tried to steal our stadium in 82. You also prevented the council from helping us out.

So as someone who follows the rugby club too, you'll never ever see me standing with your fans over any issues. In fact you'll find me lying on the floor pissing myself, just like I did when you got relegated to Non league by a team who had nothing to play for and who were wearing your own kit.

Oh and what did Hollowhead once say on that open top bus that all your fans cheered? "The only good City fan is a dead City fan" wasn't it?

You seem one of the 'decent' ones but I am absolutely flabbergasted that you are asking for our support over your clubs cock up

I'm pleased to hear that you've got a ticket for your cup final to watch a team that have already visited Ashton Gate twice this season and who we have played quite regularly over the years.

I'm not asking for your support. The balls up over the Norwich game is something Rovers need to sort out- and seemingly have. My comment was meant much more generally. Companies like Ticketmaster, Ifollow , Sky etc are taking over large aspects of our game to the extent that many aspects of it we grew up with and still want are disappearing. The ability to decide to attend a match 'on the day' is increasingly difficult, I think , with a coordinated effort from fans from all divisions, we have a btter chance of resisting those changes.

Looking for something in the loft and found a ticket, bit of a giveaway that it has no perforations :blush2:

I recently gave away this ticket, so I was obviously at the game, but it was actually my 21st birthday and I have no memory of it whatsoever.

I assume I must have been on it early  😀

Hope it gets sorted for you mate, as much as I dislike the gas ,genuine fans deserve to get tickets ( and hopefully watch them get a good thrashing from Norwich!)

Whilst I have every sympathy for Miah, this is absolutely peak tinpottery from them.

We always point out they never sell out, yet they claim to have fans locked out.

We have to give them some credit, they have finally sold out the Mem and will have to 2,000 season ticket holders locked out!

    You couldn’t make it up.

There’s a very tough call now for the board. Do they cancel the tickets they’ve sold and let the STs have them (which won’t be popular with those less regular fans who the club needs to attract) or leave it as it is (and annoy the STs who are the ones keeping the club going and who the club can’t afford to lose)?

Just had an email form the club saying 'try at 4.30'.

I think we've only ever used Tickmaster for Wembley finals, which made sense with the volume of tickets to be sold (not as many as when you lot get there, obviously!)

Surely Rovers don't use ticket master for home match tickets.?! The costs incurred & general lack of control would make that a ridiculous decision.

Surely a sold out Rovers game could be catered by the ball boys popping around door to door with a card machine, sell then all and still make it back into school by the end of a couple of free periods..! 😉

I missed your reason for you, as a STH missing out on a Norwich home ticket - how can that be possible, ever - assuming it wasn't down to you missing your priority window.?

I had an email at 6.41 pm yesterday evening that said tickets would be going on sale at 7pm , around an hour before the draw, and season ticket holders would have till Wednesday to claim their spot . I've been out of action for over a month with a broken leg and had already decided that I would try and get to this one as a test to see just what I can and cant do, so I didn't rush to get mine(which is terrace) as I wanted to see if I could get a seat. Once the draw was made social media was going mental and it was apparent that there was a free for all on tickets and by the time I thought Id better  get mine and see if I could swap it for a seat later, there were none available.

I know of a non season ticket holder who was able to buy 12, who tbf , thinks the club should cancel all tickets sold and start again. The club are blaming Ticketmaster- although who knows- and have emailed everyone who contacted them with a 'we are looking into it' email.

Update- A club statement has been issued acknowledging  a 'small' number of STHs have been affected and it will be sorted. I'd argue that it isnt a small number- but there is hope !

Sorry you won't get to the game, the bit I don't get is that the ticket selling policy decision to outsource was Rovers' decision, yes? Why not have an in house system? It is in Rovers power to change that if it isn't working?

I guess there is some sort of contract, I would hope that Rovers would get out of it ASAP, although I won't be holding my breath.

  15. Apparently you had problems with West Ham tickets? Clearly not on this scale. Since Rovers have switched to Ticketmaster, there have been numerous cock ups, people not receiving tickets in time for a game is commonplace, it barely even gets anyone angry anymore. As it stands, it looks like I , a long term season ticket holder, will miss out on the Norwich game. I get this is a piss take thread and I understand that a few of you are having a chuckle over it, but it does seem that - although not yet confirmed- that it is yet another Ticketmaster cock up and I think all football fans should be wary about this. There are some good people at Rovers in the ticket office as I'm sure there are at City and many other clubs around the country, people  who actually care about the fans, usually because they are fans themselves.

Football fans need to stick together on some issues and stand up to glorified touts like Ticketmaster.

  16. I know I should probably know this, its probably been explained to me and I thought 'what a load of shite' so I've forgotten.

So, can anyone explain to me the official reason for late flags, as in the situation when your  bloke 'scored' yesterday.

  17. WTF has happened to ticketing at football? Rovers social media pages are full every week of people who have yet to receive tickets and having to make arrangements for collection at ground or just not being able to go. This generally gets blamed on Ticketmaster and the club, yet it seems you have similar problems. Is this something that happens at every club now? I feel a campaign coming on.

    Heard similar earlier.

Sounds like they are absolutely falling apart. All the coaches have left as they were all Barton’s men and he had been given so much power there they’ve all gone with him, including director of football. New owners son who’s really young has been put in charge to run the day to day and has no idea what he’s doing.

Matt Taylor has gone in like a bull in a China shop, nailed the players loads and cancelled their Christmas party last minute. His assistant at Rotherham is being kept on by Richardson, so he essentially has no coaching staff to work with other than Bryan Anthony and their centre of excellence coaches having to step up.

They’re charging £38 a ticket for some games as they’re losing so much money from the new stand delays - that is now up, and blocking the floodlights causing a decent chunk of the penalty box on that side to be in total darkness.

I don’t think being called total amateurs is even doing it justice.

I too heard about the rumours of the Xmas party jolly being cancelled at 'the last minute' after Saturdays dismal performance. Obviously had nothing to do with the fact we had a game last night  😀
