In comparison, City’s halftime 50/50 draw regularly pays out between £800 and £1000 every home game.

Weirdly, up until Covid, Rovers 50/50 draw was extremely popular and was nearly always a 1k prize.

Then they stopped taking cash and a few sellers left and now it's around d £300

inc 500 odd away fans, on their 140th anniversary, new managers first home game and something of a local derby.

Must of been a jumble sale on in Filton or something.

Well I'm out of action for a while, so I wasn't there and I was going to be taking 2 people with me, so that's 3 accounted for :)

The thing I remember most about Gary Stanley, apart from him being virtually pointless. Was during one game ,which so so memorable that I've forgotten who it was against, he was on the bench and stood to warm up. Big shout from the crowd of "sit down Stanley" , in my memory he actually sat back down, though it was a long time ago.

In my opinion "Bang average" is being too kind.

I remember reading about this incident in a Chelsea fanzine of the time.  The author was quite upset and staggered that Stanley- who was apparently a bit of a hero in those parts- was so unpopular at Ashton.

I am reading that Neil Lennon is being considered for the long vacant manager post.

Do you perhaps have any thoughts on this @Miah Dennehy?

I loved him at Celtic, although it all went horribly wrong in the last season . Another Marmite character, I'm afraid our increasingly divided society would make it very difficult for him at Rovers, I saw a couple of posts referring to him as 'English hating' , obviously with no evidence whatsoever  to back it up :)

What does seem clear now , is that our new owners just wanted Barton out, with absolutely no plan on replacing him. I won't get drawn into any arguments about Barton as a man, but , despite results, the huge majority of fans I know where happy with things on the pitch and don't understand why we got rid, a not too dissimilar situation to recent events at Ashton Gate.

@Miah Dennehy - just looking through your list above: did you never see the Rovers play a home game at the Gate? And wouldn’t that ‘count’ as another ground? We’re all counting Coventry at Northampton and Northampton!

I did, but I can't count Ashton Gate twice, it's the same ground.

Ah, but European competition! And if you’re going Isle of Man tournament, I’ll up you Anglo Scottish Cup and Welsh Cup (albeit the latter a little before my time!).

Which would make City seasoned competitors at a European level 😁

We played in the Anglo.Scottish Cup too!

Older viewers will know why I try to forget it.

In my life time They have been at the dog track, Ashton Gate, Trumpton and now the tent village!

We did actually play a 'home' game at Yeovil's old ground against Real Oviedo as well- unfortunately I wasn't there.

I’d never really thought of it before, but the number of ground changes now makes a big difference. I’ve seen City play 15 clubs at two different grounds and 3 clubs at three different grounds.

@Miah Dennehy ‘s record is impressive none the less. And although we’ve all rightly pointed out that they have the benefit of a spell in non league, there’s another equally significant issue that is also to be celebrated and that no-one’s yet mentioned - they’ve never been in the top tier. I was lucky enough to see City in the first division days and ticked off quite a few grounds there.

I’ve seen City at 83 of the 92 current league clubs. But adding in those no longer in the league, 2/3 grounds, Wembley etc, that goes up to 110 grounds.

Edit: and I forgot Pisa! 111. Miah doesn’t have the benefit of European competition either 😂😂😂

That's where you're wrong! Isle of Man tournament gave me 2 new ones with Rovers and a pre season at Ayr :)

That's european football in my book :)

Don’t think he’s lying but I’d love to understand how!

Well without boring everyone with the entire list, I've seen Rovers on 3 different home grounds, Brighton the same, Swansea on 2 etc etc. plus all the friendlies and- you may not be aware of this- but we dropped out of the league briefly, so that put on a good number :)

That's a remarkable number to do with one club, must span over quite a few decades?

I've done around 70 grounds with City and 167 in total.

Started watching in 1974- I think my total ground count is around 250.

How have you done that many with only 92 teams in the league? admittingly teams come and go out of the league and you also  have the advantage of once being a non-league club but 176 seems an awful lot, can't ever recall Rovers going to the likes of Man U, Everton, Arsenal and maybe a few more either

Not just league grounds, I've seen them play on 176 different grounds. So for example I'm counting Wembley, The Millenium, pre season friendlies on the IoM and Scotland etc. And I have seen Rovers at Arsenal (Highbury) and Everton, and they have played at Old Trafford a couple of times in my lifetime(even won there) but I didn't go to those games.
