  1. I did think 72 didn't sound quite right, but like you say, generally in life people don't tend to let the facts get in the way of a good story.
  2. As Phantom suggested might happen (it wont let me quote for some reason), I did wonder on the way home last night if you would get Chelsea in the next round. Anyway, there is a lot of bitching/crowing from both sides about last night. I had a great night out at a ground I don't get to go to often, in a great atmosphere, and my team gave a decent account of themselves against what was a long, long way from being Chelsea reserves. Pretty much what fans of lower league clubs hope for in cup competitions. We took a lot of fans, and you would have taken the same. We 'took over' the pubs, and you would have done the same. You took 70 odd to Scunthorpe, and we would have taken a similar amount under the circumstances (although I will confess that I thought you would have broken the 100 mark with northern based supporters) Last night was Rovers turn, you (and pretty much every other league club) will have their turn soon enough.
  3. This result obviously proves we are the next Barcelona. I will confess to feeling slightly pissed and am looking forward to a day out in London. I went to Scunthorpe on Saturday , so if any of you want advice on pubs let me know.
  4. In other news 'Little Squeaker' made his debut for Rovers academy last night, and hopefully will play against City on Tuesday. Please god let him score:) I don't know how you start those hashtag things, but if someone could start #Squeakerisagashead(again) , I'd be very grateful.:)
  5. When Will I Be Famous _Scott Davidson
  6. Those Somerset fans really should learn T20 is a game of 20 overs And fair play to the lad Tilley- he showed some real balls
  7. Glad to see you supporting those who support us I will be going (have a couple of spares if anyone is looking)
  8. A rugby stadium you say? Could I ask one of you to sign this bit of paper, don't worry about the small print, just some standard sort of legal stuff
  9. Yes, if we sold them as cheaply as you we would have sold around 20,000
  10. That is outstanding value, I assume City have done their maths and can make it pay, I think Bradford struggled when they sold loads of season tickets at £100, and it is a fine balance for clubs to pitch it right.
  11. We will be playing Villareal when we are in Europe in 2 or 3 seasons
  12. I think 6k is really , very , very good for any 3rd division side. Your season ticket sales have been consistently outstanding for while now, I know you used to do it by offering really cheap kids seats, is that still the case, or are your sales mainly adult tickets? If they are adult tickets, it really would seem to justify initially selling kids tickets so cheaply, and every club should consider doing it.
  13. Some people on Rovers forums may have got a tad carried away with the wealth of our new owners. However, most Rovers fans I know, are well aware that they aren't they are not in the league of Russian oligarchs, or for that matter Steve Lansdown. I am certainly not expecting them to start flashing the cash at big name signings (nor would I want them to). I do think that they probably have a lot more acumen than Nick Higgs when it comes to the funding of a new stadium, and that the possibility of a new ground is as close as it as ever been. Having said that, I will believe it when I'm sat watching a game in it!
  14. I've seen the word 'scum' bandied about on here and many other forums. Vile word used by people who don't think about what they are saying.
  15. I had to 'unlike' this after I read this bit
  16. Well in that case had the referee given the foul on our keeper when Dover equalised in the last minute in our penultimate game, we would have gone up in first place instead of Barnet.
  17. True, but anyone who gets promoted (or relegated) has some good luck (or bad luck) throughout the season. If you say Rovers were lucky to go up because of a decision going our way in the play off final, then by the same token you would have to acknowledge that we were unlucky to go down after we battered Mansfield and did everything but score in our last game. We got relegated because we deserved it, and we got promoted because we deserved it.
  18. I suspect they were going to offer him a contract anyway, but obviously once Leeds were involved it needed to be more attractive. Not many employers chuck around big pay rises just because they think it's a nice thing to do, they do it because they need to keep someone happy.
  19. No not really. If a team gets promoted, it's because over the course of a season, they have done what is required to get promotion!
  20. In my defence I'm very short so it went right over my head
  21. Ah right, maybe it was just the one thread that stuck in my head then. BTW, I would never judge an entire fanbase , by what gets posted on a forum, but I think I maybe in a minority on that one
  22. I was at the Alfreton game, and was aware of the 'coach incident' and the people who did it. Very sad.
  23. I haven't heard that before, but I certainly remember some of our fans not being keen, much in the same way Cotterill (and Lee Johnson) were slated by some City fans in the early days.
  24. I don't really know who is looking for a manager at the moment, but using Sheffield United as an example, they have just gone for a lesser known name, and if a club of that stature came in for him, I think he would jump at the chance. The sad reality of football today is that if we do begin to struggle in League One, fans can turn very quickly (and that applies to fans of ALL clubs), and I'm sure DC is aware of that. Unless he performs absolute miracles next season, It's hard to see his stock going anywhere but downwards from it's present high point.
  25. Err, okay, but I don't quite see your point.
