  1. I honestly do want to stay at the Mem , for reasons I have said so on here before, although as the fruit market is fairly central I could have been happy with it. I've stopped worrying about behind the scenes stuff long ago and just enjoy a weekend with mates and occasionally seeing a good game- which tbf we have seen a few of lately. Sometimes I do think though 'FFS really?' . I have lost count of the number of new grounds proposed and promised, we must hold some kind of record.
  2. Yes, and improvements have definitely been made. I mean, we almost , but not quite, broke our transfer record, and we talked for a couple of years about building a new stadium that had almost started to get me to believe it might happen. I blame the ref.
  3. No, we're still coming, just not down the Feeder And we maybe slightly late.
  4. I'm disappointed that so many have given up the fight. That competition needs sustained attendances of less than 100, then there may be a -slim- chance, that we get listened to. Unfortunately (in my opinion) football's fanbase is changing and the matchday experience is becoming a very different thing, although I do accept that this may well be one some people want. To go slightly off topic, I still find it absolutely incredible, that many Champions league games are played in front of less fans to allow bigger advertising boards, I mean, FFS take that in for a second, what on earth is going on there? The one thing that hooked me as a youngster and I suspect did most people- certainly of my age, was the atmosphere at a game and the advent of things like B teams with a separate identity taking part in senior fixtures does,in my opinion, devalue the whole matchday experience. We are fighting a losing battle of course, but that still doesn't mean you should roll over and have your tummy tickled.
  5. I've spent all night trying to come up with a witty post about how many Tillsons in a Clarke-Harris and now this! I blame the ref.
  6. Well obviously I turned off pretty quickly after the goal.
  7. I watched this on TV and the cameras were shaking. I don't think it matters what level a match is, when the atmosphere is rocking, its a very special feeling.
  8. I'm surprised and a bit disappointed to see people encouraging your club - and you are by no means unique in this- to limit away allocations. I always thought part of the atmosphere at games was helped by a big away following. Be careful what you wish for , one day you'll be sitting in a sterile stadium, loud music blaring over the PA and a total lack of edge about any game.
  9. I remember the BCC councillor who turned up to a meeting in a City shirt during a discussion on planning proposals for Rovers new stadium- don't ask me which one, I've lost count on that one- incredibly unprofessional but it had no bearing on the outcome whatsoever. I would imagine plenty of councillors support one or the other (glad that they do) , but the perception by some City fans that BCC is pro Rovers and by some Rovers fans that is pro City really simply isn't true. The same goes for the imagined bias of the Evening Post and Radio Bristol. I spend a bit of time in Glasgow where fans of Celtic and Rangers accuse organisations of bias toward one team or the other and fans of Partick and Queens Park accuse them of bias towrds the old firm. I suspect the same accusations get made in Sheffield, Liverpool, Stoke, Birmingham etc etc. Mind you, just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you
  10. Ahem, I'll have you know , one had to qualify for the Watney Cup by being one of the top two scoring sides in one's relevant division ! Clearly Ashton Gate was the home of dull 0-0 draws and scrappy 1-0 wins back then whereas, as the old saying went, Eastville for entertainment
  11. Have you ever won the Watney Cup though?
  12. B block of the Dolman for me when Garry Smart scored that screamer. It didn't go down well!
  13. Always makes me smile when home fans get narked at people having the temerity to cheer on the other side. I'm sure most of us have done it over the years- **** em.
  14. BCC has no more bias towards Rovers than Radio Bristol, Evening Post etc etc. The paranoia of many Rovers and City fans about it is, well, paranoia.
  15. I bet you won't find a mayor anywhere daft enough to back one team over another.
  16. It was all a bit odd, they sold out certain areas then released more tickets on Friday, we seem to do a lot. I really can't fathom why they do it that way.
  17. I'm sure he would have backed any 82er applications as well
  18. I actually bumped into 'the' Shedman a couple of months back, in , of all places , Ashton Gate for a conference thing( my first visit since the revamp) . He doesn't go to games any more. .
  19. Not entirely, I'm sure the ref had a hand in it somewhere.
  20. Was he? Bloody hell, I feel sorry for whoever bought it then, it doesn't work half the time.
  21. Earlier reports suggested Gorringe was to go as well, those reports seem to have disappeared. 'Tom, you're the CEO, who is responsible for all these **** ups?' 'Err, him over there!' He's our very own Boris Johnson
