  1. I'd be really intrigued to see what the clubs stance would be over producing a programme if we draw someone like Liverpool or Arsenal in the quarter finals of the FA Cup?

Something tells me that in the interests of fleecing us making a quick buck, they'd be all over producing a programme charging a tenner a pop!

I think a lot of the high praise on this thread comes from fans seeing a deep thinking, straight talking manager who has started to transform the whole club rather than short term sticking plasters.

NP come in and picked up an absolute mess, with no money to spend and players he needed to remove due to either financial or they were determental to a positive culture.

Whilst some may try to say yes he has been lucky to have good youngsters, but it is NP who has surrounded them by the right type of senior players and given then a chance, not just farmed off on loan.

If we are successful or not this year, the whole club appears to pulling in the right direction and set up for future success. I really hope we have it under NP's reign.

Completely agree with this statement, the way NP has kept us comfortably(give or take) in this division with all the constraints he's had, is testament to him. I remember equally bad squads under McInnes and O'Driscoll where we went down with a whimper.

One of my concerns that I keep reading, is that NP has set the foundations up for future success, but it only needs the wrong kind of manager to get appointed once again, them go on a spending spree and lumber us with not very good players on 3 or 4 year contracts.

The next managerial position is key for me. I'd like to see NP have his contract extended, and then a succession plan put in place for his eventual successor. Maybe a gradual handover of responsibilities to Andy King or Jason Euell or Curis Fleming, whilst NP grooms them for the job in hand.

I use it for every home match, a really good service and stress free. I usually aim for half 1 and don't wait long plus it's really easy to get out and no worries about parking.

I've used the Bris P&R and the bus to Ashton Gate is a dream, really easy.

However, the journey back I've found the complete opposite. By the time I've got out the back row of the South Stand, the buses are either jam packed, gone, or stuck in the traffic trying to get away from the ground, and then I'm waiting around for a loooong time!

Amongst all the negativity...just look at the face, eyes and smile on that young fan.

Full kit, shirt fully signed...a fan for life now. They'll never forget.

It's what footy is really all about.

    Making dreams come true.

My wife took our son down, and he queued with her for over 3hours patiently.

For any other event, he would be constantly fidgeting, complaining, asking when to leave, is there a snack, when's lunch etc.., but he didn't mutter a single thing as he could see his heroes up ahead.

When the time came to meet Nahki Wells, he was actually shaking as he held out his autograph card, whereby Nahki reassured him saying "no need to be shy".

Mark my words, this event meant so much to our son, and I expect the same for thousands of other children.

In all seriousness, this may not be wide of the mark...given the mess they've made of kit and logos, it would not surprise me.

Does anyone know if it's really junior who's behind all this, or is that just conjecture?

That's what I'd honestly like to know? He gets a lot of ribbing from people on here, but is it actually JL coming up with the rebranding, or have they outsourced (or insourced it) to someone else?

I know these decisions ultimately comes from the top, but we're not hearing a dickie bird from them. Are they being misled by so-called "branding experts" who don't really get the passion and history of football clubs and the association that fans have with specific colours and badges?

Pretty sure @Blagdon Mike from the SC&T recently said there'd be more news about the programme shortly, which they've been talking to the club about or something like that.

Im sure the Supporters Club Survey had a statement in one of the questions that said the club wont be producing either printed OR digital programmes this season, and that a proposal maybe in the fan led Cidered programme instead.

He got beat by a real thunderbastard of a shot, yes, it went into near post, but it was some striker.  One I’d give the striker the credit for rather than blame the keeper per se.  The second was a one on one after Low got caught in possession.  The third was from a free-kick where the ball got bundled in from close range.  On that goal he allowed his defenders to get on top of him, so you can be critical of that for sure.

It may have been a thunderbolt of a strike, but from behind in the South Stand, I thought his positioning wasn't great and left far too much room open on his near post.

I know it has become an urban myth but Marinovic didn’t actually play that badly.

He was far too slow to clear the ball in the first minute & Lloyd Kelly bailed him out big time & his kicking was poor in an absolute gale but he made one smart save & had no chance with their goal.

This nonsense has become so exaggerated in time that in a few years people will be posting on here he was responsible for all 5 of their goals in a 1-1 draw.

I'm going from memory here, but I'm sure the first goal we let in against Lincoln was because he left a massive gap at his near post, and he couldn't cut the shot out.

Someone might have to dig the highlights out to confirm though.

Without taking the time to dissect other clubs business, I'd guess we're around maybe 5th to 10th for money spent this window? Sounds as though we've spent a little under 5 million on McCrorie, Dickie and Knight. Coventry just splashed 8 million on Ellis Simms, so they're immediately clear of us.

Worth bearing in mind, looking at one window in isolation can be quite misleading. Prior to this window, we've been very cautious financially with free agents and small fees (George Tanner) for a good two or three years, as we navigated FFP issues. This summer, we seem to be past said issues and with the Semenyo sale and a potential further big pay packet coming for Scott, we've loosened the belt substantially.

Fair point looking back over the last few seasons, however the article refers to the teams in their current respective divisions, so I think the article should only base their findings on the here and now.

...or to put it another way, let's ignore the article as they're shit stirring ?

‘Big’ and ‘small’ club is intentionally vague. If you’re talking attendances we’re pretty big in the Championship. If you’re talking honours/trophies we are indeed in the ‘small 6’. Stadium/facilities we’re big. Historic League position we’re probably middling to low.

But if random Twitter accounts want to name us a ‘small 6’ club, the best thing we can do is prove them wrong.

I dont know the answer to this, but thought I'd ask.

What does our spending on incoming transfers look like in comparison to other clubs in our division this pre-season? I know wages also play a part in that, but was curious that a clubs size could also be somewhat dependent on their spending power also.

    Just came across this.....

    QED

Like the way he had to introduce a different category so it didn't look so bad for them!

I guess our Runner-up to Newcastle in Division 1 didn't count then?

I would've like to have seen points given for runner up in the lower divisions also, as promotion for either club isn't to be sniffed at?

Some parity along the lines of City being the club with most Football League trophy appearances would've been fair.........but as you say, all about saving face for the gash!!

  12. Sometimes the opposition put a lot of men behind the ball and sit very deep, thus restricting space behind for runners. The natural instinct is to bring a big target man (or defender) on, to then pump crosses into the box, right on top of the keeper and force a goal that way.

Personally, I'd also like us to have a few more accurate long shots. Over the last few years, we rarely take accurate long shots, they usually shank off the likes of Joe Williams foot - which admitted has set up chances through luck rather than design - it would be great if we could pop in a few more long range efforts.
