Brighton got their off field infrastructure in place by 2011, that helps.

Bloom and his analytics, the stadium..both attendances and turnover went up by a factor of 2.5-3 from the Withdean in League some to the Amex in the Championship.

I assume but I don't know for sure , they invested heavily in the Training Ground and or Academy.

Exactly my point, you have Tony Bloom and his team working hard non stop and getting the right people in,we have the Lansdowns feeding their ego with Bristol sport and getting Brian tinnion to oversee the football side

I dont believe i'm obsessed and hope you can find interest in comparison to clubs who are doing better than us? I dont dwell on lower league clubs if that is also what you mean but rather try to work out how traditionally (say last 20 years) smaller clubs than us manage to do so well. I also like to consider how clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth & Brentford turn what most of us expected to be short-lived tenures in the top flight into sustained ones. They have good owners too but seem able to recruit much better. I do not 'blame' Ashton, Alexander, Tins nor their coaches at the time but it is frustrating to witness. Many clubs do much worse & I'd rather be where we are than lots of clubs who have not been able to sustain a (relatively) comfortable place in our league

We know how Bournemouth done it,s hit or bust but the other 2 you are correct, you may not blame certain people but if they were in the clubs you mentioned they would not be where they are trust me,all about hiring the right people and al the clubs you mention do not have a so called club legend running things

My lad was at a decent local side a couple of years ago before he went to Uni (pretty high in the pyramid) and their players used to read their forum on the way home from away trips and literally took the piss. It would be like “Smithy, you know that 25 stone lardass Dave, he reckons milk turns quicker than you”. The point being many players do read these forums and just have a laugh about it.

Of course they do because they have egos, they love it when they are praised but anything negative and then the forums don’t know what they are talking about

Little between Watford's league position/form and ours. They reckon beating Rotherham put them in the perfect position to be in the mix for Top 6. Do you agree with them or think that their one win in five is such poor form they are just joking? If anyone from City's management took that positive, cheerful, optimistic view today, some other posters on here would choose to mock them forever if we dont make it; Why do people still quote opinions expressed by Tinman in 2023?

IMO it is very unlikely this season but as we are clearly building for next season, a strong finish would do us no harm

Sunderland are a much bigger club than us and probably have higher expectations of a fan base double our size but they sack Beale today for only being on 47 points

Its a strange old league, this one but many advantages over being in the VAR-ridden Premier League

Your obsession with clubs that our bigger than us is rather odd

Lots of reasons we will only take 400 fans. Surely its the same distance as it was for them mid-week in October. Bigger club? yes of course and going well under Ashton and McKenna but they brought thousands; sadly no comparison

Will look forward to some of the pictures when you are at the ground or are you a do as I say not as I do kinda person

I was going to post this in its own thread but I think it sits qutie well here.

I looked back at our possession stats for a number of previous games. On average the less possession we have the more likely we are to win the game. Also, teams that are higher up the table are likely to have more of the ball and we're more likely to play well against them. Its strange but this table seems to show that fact: In this sample range of our last 18 league games, we've never beaten a team when we've had 50 percent or more possession.

It stinks of LJ where it was forget about possession and just run, that will catch up with you at the end of the day if you can’t control the game, let’s give him till the start of next season though before we put him in the stocks and start chucking bricks at him please

Might there be loan conditions that City need to have him in the squad if " match fit" ?

I did think that myself but then thought we fell for that with that right Kent from Liverpool so we wouldn’t be falling for that again

Talking about not have the time to work on it again.

How often do they actually train? Anyone would think he’s managing a part time team the way he talks about training sometimes.

He seems to want to keep changing things what I think is weird, sometimes trying to keep it simple is the best way

We are in a classic battle for mid table mediocrity !

TBH surely one of the top 3 will win the play offs ?

Thank god,now the weird lads who that we were getting promoted or in a relegation fight can pipe down,Manning has the rest of the season and pre next season to get what he wants, then we can properly judge

I’ve never liked him, then twice in one minute, he referred to us as “Bristol”. I now like him even less.

Kinda like it,makes the fewers look even less important than they think they are in this city

HWR to be released is the word on the street, and even if it wasn’t, most fans would probably lean towards that.

Think he’s a no3, a cheap option to provide cover with a bit of EFL experience.

He allows us to go two ways in the summer:

    1. replace Bajic with one of the young ones
    2. Replace Bajic with a true competitor for Max

Of course those aren’t the only options, but the ones I see.

    +++++

On an aside, Thomas himself might’ve improved whilst he’s here also, so despite having played 49 senior games in EFL related comps, he might be more capable than any of us know.

Behave yourself with your last comment Dave, are you suggesting the football side of city know more than OTIB
