Er how is it not about England?

Come on. You've laced yet another covid thread with a bunch of England players.

There's ample threads on covid, rule breaking, and all manner of other things.

You've also failed to mention that it was a surprise birthday party that Abraham had no knowledge of or hand in planning.

You also say that they've been dropped. They've not been dropped. They've been asked to delay their attendance at training.

Why whip it up with a new and innacurate thread when it can just go in the hopper with all the other covid related chat?

This podcast has a really interesting first 15 minutes. The presenters interview the CEO of Shrewsbury Town, Brian Caldwell. Shrewsbury are one of the clubs piloting the return of 1,000 fans this weekend. Shrewsbury currently have about 2,700 ST holders and the interview covers the processes behind this pilot.

    In summary:

Caldwell says that in terms of preparation the club received an email from from the EFL on Tuesday at 11.30am. It sounds like this was an email to all EFL clubs, and it was basically asking if any clubs would be up for being part of the pilot. Responses had to be in by 2pm the same day! Before responding Shrewsbury needed the ok of their SAG, plus the police, ambulance, insurers etc. Mad timeline all around really.

Anyway, Shrewsbury were able to respond positively as they have a 24 acre site, so have plenty of spare space in which to distance fans.

The EFL gave the go ahead to Shrewsbury on Wednesday at 1pm. So they have had Wednesday pm, today, tomorrow, and Saturday morning to prepare for their 3pm Saturday game (against the absolute slugs of football Northampton Town). Naturally it's been mental.

Shrewsbury had prepared 1,000 tickets on Wednesday morning, assuming they'd get the go ahead. Given the timeline they weren't able to do any sort of sophisticated or phased selection system, so it just went first come first served amongst ST holders, going live for purchase at 2pm yesterday. Any ST holder not getting a ticket has been given free streaming access on iFollow. Caldwell said ideally - and if they're part of future pilots - then he's thinking of prioritising ST holders depending on how early they renewed last season.

On Saturday fans will be distanced in their seats, but allowed to sit in small groups, eg people from the same address. Just one stand will be open, no concourse facilities are open, and there's a full one way system for toilets. Lots of stickers, signs and barriers are being put up. There will be catering, but all will be outside, out the back of the stand - again they can do this because of their spacious site.

He can't be well, that's not even a C in GCSE English. In fact, it's probably a fail. How did he make his money again?

Is it a tactic - if you eschew all grammar then when your ramblings are questioned you can simply say "well, if you read it more carefully, it all makes sense". However, as you've not written it according to "the so-called rules", in fact no-one will ever be able to fully decipher your writing. Thus you are able to use this ambiguity as a shield to cover your madness.

you’ll have to forgive me here, I’m sat at work, so following the game on here. But the more I read this thread the more it appears like we’ve been passing it around nicely on the half way line, maybe even the second third, but we’ve not actually created anything in terms of goal threat?

Pretty much, there's been some crosses into the box from COD and Dasilva, and Nagy has tried to just chip it to the right hand side of the box for Weimann to run onto. but there's definitely not been much cutting edge despite our dominance on the flanks and the industry of Nagy and Smith.

A corner at the and was headed close, and Afobe had a couple of slim chances.

Not sure what’s more staggering, the fact COD starts again or it seems Johnson is going with Afobe on the left again.

                       Maenpaa

    Vyner   Williams   Baker   Dasilva
                    Smith    Nagy
                       O’Dowda
      Weimann                      Afobe

                          Wells

Thanks, I was trying to figure out who RB was - we've had 4 weeks of being told Vyner will play midfield.

Has he gone off Liverpool's 433 and decided this week for a Brazilian 424 formation? A 424 is bold. LJ wants us to be bold.

  6. Believe this was the intended schedule prior to the hiatus.

If they go in order then keep an eye out for the Notts Forest game, and then of course the final day v Preston which as others have mentioned could be an all or nothing shoot out. We finally threw it away in the third to last game v Derby last season. Maybe we'll go better this time around.

  7. Only thing is that it will inevitably disrupt next season. I'm glad it's coming back, although I'm personally still of the view that this season should have been scrubbed and then 20/21 played as normal - including having fans in the stadia - but the decisions have been made.

One thought - if they are sticking to the spirit of distancing and other rules then surely the fixture list should be re-done in order to minimise travel for each team? Seems against it all to have our squad going up and down the M5 every couple of days.

I saw a pic this morning from a friend who lives at Laguna Del Mar: some idiot was paddle-boarding up 7MB, clearly part of the "rules don't apply to me" camp.

Sad isn't it. IMO whether you agree with the restrictions or not you still have a duty to abide by them as a citizen (or in my case guest) in a country. I don't necessarily agree with the restrictions, but I'm acting as instructed regardless. Cayman is tiny as you know and with such limited hospital care if this thing gets out we'll be hit hard at a time where we cannot rely on the US or UK for assistance.

I saw the reports of the 20k+ applications for waiver: not bad from a workforce that can't be much over 30k.

And the CIG had one bloke monitoring one email inbox to deal with them ?

My wife got over to England the day before the airport closed, but our dogs are still there, enjoying foster lockdown life at various places across the island.

Glad you managed to get your wife off the island. To be honest it's not been too bad here really. I've been fairly impressed with McLaughlin's leadership (for probably the first time sine moving here) - and he seemed embarrassed and exasperated at the number of "essential" applications the other day. Have to say I am glad I don't have a pet right now.

  9. Well we are now 14 hours into a full 58 hour curfew in the Cayman Islands. (7pm Wednesday night until 5am Saturday) No one is allowed out of their house (except into your private garden/balcony). all shops closed, only people on the streets are emergency services and medical/government staff. All because when the Gov announced a partial closedown of all non-essential business they were inundated by 20,000 applications form people/business who believed themselves to be "essential". This full curfew is to buy the Gov some time to sort out how the island will functional under a "new normal". We also, as a British Overseas Territory, need to keep a lid on our own infection (8 cases, 1 death) until such time as the UK has it's own house in order and can start supporting the vestiges of the Empire.
