I am still a supporter of Steve Lansdown and feel that he has done a lot more good for this club than bad, and I also think that opinion on this forum is a lot more anti the people in charge than exists amongst the general fanbase.

I even don't mind Jon too much, he's obviously not particularly competent at anything he does, but is in a position where I can't help but feel he can't do a lot of harm.

Brian Tinnion is a person who did a perfectly good job as a loans and development manager with the academy, and had he stayed there I think his position as a club legend would have been safe.

He is, however, obviously not suited to his current role, he really just isn't clever enough. One small anecdote to illustrate....

In his testimonial year, twenty odd years ago now, for some reason that I cannot to this day fathom, I was teamed up with Brian and his wife at a quiz night in the Dolman Hall that was part of the fundraising.

They were both very nice people and we got on perfectly well, but I'm fairly sure that just about every point we scored was despite Brian, not because of.

As an example, there was a thing where between every round you got a clue to the identity of a mystery footballer - The answer was Brian Tinnion and he didn't get it!

    Like, really??!!

Christ, give the guy a break, he tries to post something positive and gets derided for it.

Spreading positive energy is a good thing, this place has too many cruel people who love to jump on his back.

He had a fall out with Nigel Pearson, these things happen, it doesn't mean he's evil or something.

BT loves Bristol City, like we do, and he has limitations to his talent, but why the constant need to bash him?

And as for mocking the grammar of his tweet, well that's just poor form, he's not trying to compose quality literary content, it's meant to be a quick read, something simple to digest.

Winning goal at Anfield?  His number of appearances for the club?  One of the key parts of an incredible promotion winning team, with a crossing ability that could tear teams to shreds and create loads of chances for Goater and Cramb?

He's absolutely a club legend, the level he played at doesn't matter because that was usually our level anyway!

He was my fave player during the 90's and must have assisted over 100 goals. I don't have the stat but it could well be higher!

Agree with much of what you say and fair play to you, such a shame to see somebody who was worshipped as a player being pilloried, some of the comments feel like bullying.

Having said that, saying that he "fell out" with NP is a bit disingenuous given what actually happened, and I have been told a story very recently by an ex long serving employee and life long fan of the club, who was well respected at the club and good at his job, and considered himself to be on friendly terms with Tins, but was pushed out, which doesn't reflect very well on Tins, at all.

The bigger picture though is it doesn't reflect well on the personnel above Tinnion, where the level of competence is truly shocking, which has long been my gripe.

Clever businessmen employ people who are better and more intelligent than themselves. The travesty is that Tinnion may be that, just that the bar hasn't been set very high.

But at the very start of the season we were joint top and Pearson saw us slowly regress too. 😂 Comparing where we were at point a. To where we are now at point b. Is not as simple as you make out.

Its very simple to point out that Manning was brought in to get a top 6 squad into the top 6, and didn’t.

Hes doing alright so far. What’s he done wrong? As far as I can see, we’re a financially stable championship club with year on year league growth with a solid platform to kick on. I don’t see a reason to be negative.

That’s actually quite funny and I’m very confident very few would agree.

    What’s he done wrong?

How about, what’s he done right.

Probably the most ridiculed Chairman by fans of his own club. Think there might be a reason for that.

What's amateur about it? And what would you do different?

You seriously think Jon Lansdown is a credible Chairman of a £100 million turnover business?

So, let's say a coach gets fired after just two games into the season. At that point, the team was only one point away from the top spot. However, by the end of the season, they ended up in sixth place. Now, consider that in the past four seasons, this same team consistently finished in the 18th position. Would you still argue that this isn't progress, simply because they were once so close to the top?

    Is that actually your argument?

Manning replaced Pearson because so say Pearson wasn’t getting the best out of a “top 6 squad”.

Under Manning we have regressed by 5 points compared with where we were under Pearson, fact.

Not sure what’s so difficult to comprehend.

And don’t start me off with how he set us up against Swansea, the most boring pointless game of football I have ever seen.

    Regress?

    We’ve factually progressed under LM?

If you’re going to present something as “fact” it would be nice if it were fact.
Before Manning we were 5 points off the play offs and we are now 10 off.

Why the need to repeat it over and over though? Its like you want Manning to fail so you can be proven correct. Every day, pretty much, its the same posts. Give it a rest

Why the need to troll him.

I don't think too many have a great deal of time for the ones at the top at the moment, but do you really expect Chairmen/Owners from clubs to come out and give interviews multiple times per season after every losing and winning run?

It is the end of the season and if he didn't come out and speak he'd get criticised, now he is doing an interview he's getting criticised for that.

You’ve just said exactly the same as the post I replied to.

My comment is a different point.

Feel like they're damned if they do, damned if they don't sometimes

If he fronted up when we’re Ona losing run rather than only ever on a winning streak, I’d agree with you.

Whoever the interviewer surely the main question has to be, given that JL said we had a top 6 squad, does he agree switching managers was a failure?

Didn’t take risks but ended up in top 2 please go back and watch some highlights of that season your completely wrong, you seem to be a statistic merchant rather than someone who attended games, we were brave on the ball and tried to win every game, our best players and the core of our team was dissembled , Carey old age , Orr, Basso, Elliott injuries , we essentially had to replace all of our quality which Gary found hard to do at the level… The style of play and competitiveness can not be questioned

    If you say so, yessir

If we're looking at who maximised the potential of their careers, then let's not forget Gary made the most of his, but there's a reason Lee Trundle certainly didn't.

To be fair Will, I don't think Trundle has any regrets, he enjoyed his career in his own way.

    I enjoyed watching that.

For all the ' negatives' mentioned by Trundle about GJ in his time here, it's worth noting how many times Trundle mentioned that he was wrong in his reaction to GJ, and that he should have dealt with the situation differently.

Not sure that Trundle said he was wrong, unless I missed any of it he said GJ's man management of a certain type of player - Trundle, Noble - was awful, but fair play to him he got results.

    I would definitely dispute it.

Of all the players I spoke with during GJs reign not one had anything positive to say about him. Much of that was down to nepotism and LJ starting ahead of far better players and GJ running the club like a family corner shop.

RR gets a lot of stick but to be fair I thought it was common knowledge that players were unhappy with the nepotism - LJ played ahead of Skuse, Noble and even Hartley FFS - and ultimately isn't that what led to the half time incident at Plymouth?

The family corner shop comparison isn't unfair either, apart from the huge controversy caused with his son, and a brother as chief scout, I was told by an academy coach at the time that GJ wanted to bring another brother in, who at the time was managing the equivalent of a Somerest county league team.

Exactly and to question the brand of Football we played aswell! We were brave and  took risks with style ! As this video below proves, the following was an away game at Watford who were 2nd at the time in November or December of this season!

Freshley relegated from the Premier League with all the same players who had one them promotion from that League a year earlier! We went for them with no fear and came away with 3 points! Gary was a miracle worker

Remains fresh in my memory as I was at every game that season and since Gary left I haven’t enjoyed a season yet! Even the Cotterill season wasn’t that enjoyable for me as we should never have been in League 1 in the first place

Dont get me wrong Mr/Mrs Johnson, I hugely enjoyed Gary's time here despite my frustration with the LJ situation, but I also went to every game that season, home and away, with the exception of Burnley away as I was abroad, and in general we didn't take risks, quite the opposite. Nevertheless I agree it was an enjoyable season, simply due to the success. But to suggest the Cotterill season wasn't that enjoyable, that's just plain daft, did you actually go to any games while he was manager?!

In my opinion, Gary probably sacrificed his own career in order to give his son one, and as a father I can understand that although not condone it. Lansdown should have dealt with that for the benefit of all except of course LJ, but in hindsight now it's fairly obvious why he didn't.

I’m delighted to share two webinars from up and coming young football coach, Lee Johnson

In the first one Lee will take you through recruitment, club structure and the interview process

In this second edition, you will be educated on building a game model, methodology and developing young players.

Please note that this is may be too highbrow for some and if you cannot follow it or it makes no sense at all, that is on you and not Lee.

Credit it to him, played Lansdown a blinder then lived off that at Sunderland Hibernian and Fleetwood before all three saw through the bluffer, Is there anybody left taking that clown seriously?

I have no idea how things are going to pan out under Manning but he deserves a summer to recruit some of his own players.

We’ve already got Top 6 quality squad, so actually no. He doesn’t.
