I've DMd him for you 👍

Thanks for that mate and the others that have replied. Sure enough Jerry phone me, he has my tickets being returned to the East End collection office, it’s near the club office for anyone else as stupid as me.🙃

If you use Twitter I've DMd him before when I needed to collect tickets at QPR and met him, usually quick to respond, he is @ BristolCitySLO

Thanks for that mate, I’m not on Twitter, too confusing for me, and the other idiots I’m with 😄

any chance someone could put a message to him for me on twitter?

    Thanks

  3. I’ve had a shocker, on the train to West Brom, opened email with ticket confirmation expecting to be able to download to phone, nothing.

Phoned West Brom ticket office, gave details from email, they said couldn’t see anything on their system.

    Suggestions gratefully received!

No car crashes this time. However I counted seven Southamptons!

Biggest news is that Twine fit, Tanner maybe but Naismith out and from the sounds of it for the season.

Love the bit where he says we were a “bit more on the front foot” in the second half, considering we were practically going backwards in the first half.

Listen out for the answer, around 4 minutes, to the follow up question “have you learned much since coming to Ashton Gate” (reply - yes I have. Follow up question- what have you learned?).

The answer - 2 minutes of utter inanity.

Not to mention his remit wasn’t to learn, it was to have a Top 6 quality squad, err, in the Top 6.

Not in the slightest bit impressed, and this coming from somebody that - until the appointment of Lee frockin Johnson - I backed every single manager ever appointed by this shambles, including, on here, Brian Tinnion at his managerial nadir.

Finally got around to listening to it last night & thought the interviewer (Richard Hoskin?) did an excellent job, we all miss GT but to be fair he wasn’t far off his standard.

Aside from the blatant lies, so the McKenna 2 wins in his first 12, we beat Southampton 3-1 (not 3-0), we weren’t 3 points off the playoffs as a result & he seems to have completely forgotten his time in Spain, the bits that really irritated were his constant excuse of injuries now, (no worse it was than under Pearson) the incredible assertion that we couldn’t compete with Coventry (the only place I felt Hoskin missed a follow up, why did they spend after their sales & we didn’t?) & his total arrogance that he “deserved” the job.

    Dismal.

I’ve tried to defend Tins as a playing legend, and in my eyes he was, and in particular the nastiness of the personal jibes, but when you put it like that, there’s no argument against, and you haven’t even mentioned the back stabbing which I’ve pretty much heard first hand accounts of.

    Such a shame.

John Gayle, ex, torquay-wimbledon lives couple of doors away from me and we were chatting about Cotts the other day. Still sees him occasionaly and says he's one of the best blokes he's ever known. Can't believe how he was treated here.

    You reading that Lansdowns?

    Nothing but contempt for them.

I watch a fair bit of FGR and I’ll tell you for sure - since Cotts has arrived there is a very clear difference in how bloody hard these lads are working.
They still lack quality, but flip me, they are working their nuts off.

I think it says a lot about my current mood that I cheered Doidge’s goal tonight more than I cheered our goal v Swansea on Sunday!!

Yes mate, man management, players will as they say run through walls for him. Why? He gives, rather than takes, the credit.

Even if he doesn’t he has shown what a top manager he is at that level.

    "At that level".

    See what you done there.

Look at the Burnley fans forums and what they thought of him, in the Championship.

At any level, a million times the manager and man manager than the **** that succeded him here.

I almost hope he doesnt keep FGR up, it will just make me even angrier with the Lansdowns and what they did.

I do get that it’s unpleasant reading at times and yes he’s done great things at the club as a player and in particular his time with the academy etc. but I also think the problem is largely one if his own making.

It isn’t just the NP situation that his honesty and behaviour has been called into question, he’s clearly not always behaved above board, or in a respectful manner, to other managers either. Danny Wilson comes to mind.

As I said in another post when you are found to have behaved dishonestly and get caught out, it’s very difficult to gain people’s trust again.

Yes, and I am aware of another situation where things were called into question, leading to the departure of another respected staff member, so a hat trick so to speak, and I have been extremely disappointed with all 3 departures.

In hindsight..... get on with it lads, but it's a shame the fond memories of Tins as a player are being tarnished.

Mehmeti shows flashes of real class but I have always been concerned with his lack of pace.  Given the size of fees in the transfer market, if he doesn't work out he can probably be sold without much loss or even at a profit.  Taken "in the round" with young recruits like Stokes and Murphy, Tins is clearly trying to get value for the club.  The Lansdown family reigning back on their already huge financial input and financial fair play rules are probably the driving reasons for the approach chosen by the club and being executed by Brian.  He deserves recognition for the value that he has brought the club. i find this pile on sickening for someone who has served the club in different roles so diligently for three decades.

Don't agree with much of the rest but I do the highlighted bit.

Service on and off over 30 years with the club should count for something. Respect, for a start, and a recognition that if not quite one of us, it would be impossible for him not to have genuine affection for a club whose fans used to belt out a song in his honour week after week.

Maybe Tins has been promoted to his level of incompetence, maybe he hasn't, but he isn't the devil incarnate, and if he has been, even if through underhandedness as has been suggested, the blame lies firmly with those who put him there.

That has Steve Lansdown's fingerprints all over it.

Wouldn't be the first, or last, time he's stuck his oar in. The man just can't help himself, whatever the sport.

Here's Pat Lam just a few weeks ago:

"Steve Lansdown had a quiet word with me about playing the Bears way, he wanted to be excited about the way we play and I said I'd see what we can do".

So because the owner was a bit bored at the rugger, he told the Coach to play a different way.

    Says it all really.

Could Steve also have a quiet word with Liam?

City travel to The Hawthorns on Saturday 16th March.

For those of us old enough; who will ever forget 17th March 1976? 😄 Not the highest scoring win of the season, but the most important.

    Have some sympathy Nick

Poor old ‘Travis’ is 143 yrs old, went to his first game in 1913 , read the forum for 73 years before he finally decided to sign up a few weeks ago

And then after all that, over 48 hrs ,  it appears he’s managed to get himself blocked from posting.

( Ive lit a candle in memorium )

Funny thing is he's still able to respond with an emoji.

Funnier still, his emoji of choice is "confused".

Confused with life in general I should say.

He said he wanted to take a break from management for a bit.
In fairness to him on these webinars, he wasn’t sure how much interest there would be. He’d initially put a post on LinkedIn asking if anyone would be interested in such a thing, and he’d figured he might have a dozen or so interested and he was going to run detailed sessions to a small number.
But the interest on LinkedIn was vastly more than he anticipated and so is running these free ‘all-comers’ webinars instead now.
I appreciate that he’s easily ridiculed by many but there is clearly interest from people outside of City, Sunderland and Hibs as to drawing on his experiences in the pro game. He’s been involved in 1,000 pro matches at 15 clubs and is willing to provide that experience, for free, to aspiring coaches, managers, recruiters etc.

Surely it’s a good thing that he is ‘giving back’ to the game.

Yes Harry, I'm particularly looking forward to the modules on self promotion, man management, grass measuring, optimum strategies for blame deflection, the role of drones (remember that one?!), everything I learnt from Pep and everything Pep learnt from me, how to be "brave", and an introductory session in gobbledygook.

I'm signing up, he knows how much I love him.

And as before boring life you have. You would not even know back in 59 anyway so 🤷 are you The Riddler out of Batman? Piss Poor Attempt btw.

I'm assuming "Travis" has been removed but maybe now is the time to let he/she/it know the Dolman wasn't built until 1970 and the schoolboy encosure was a few years after that.

Why did you hang out there?

I said this would be fun.

Not in 1967 I didn't, no. I don't know anyone that did, then. My dad sat me on a wall at the Open End behind the goal.

I don't reckon you did in '59, either. I mean, you'd remember if you did, or didn't, wouldn't you? Stand in the schoolboys enclosure in front of the Dolman, that is.

Don't recall too many ticket stubs in those days either, surprised you'd even be thinking there would be one, back in '59. Surely you recall the days of paying two bob at the turnstile?

No they were not I see how easy it is to confuse you. Can't remember where I stood back 65 years ago maybe I can have a look for the ticket stub got yours from the Boro game?

But definitely not the schoolboys enclosure in front of the Dolman?

It was great 1-0 win when did I say several months ago? Wrong again! I think there is a inferiority complex at play here with yourself 🤔

You didn't need to. The comments you refer to were several months ago - before "Travis" was a member.

That game against Liverpool, where did you stand, schoolboys enclosure in front of the Dolman?

Yes get a carer to read them back to you 👍🏻

    Proper charmer aren't you.

I've mentioned the issue of new members once on this thread, and not on any other current ones. Until the last couple of weeks I hadn't been on here much for quite a while, probably several months ago, certainly well before you joined on 31 December.

This being the case the posts you refer to are before you were a member of this forum.

So you are saying that you were an avid reader of this forum before joining, and of all the thousands and thousands of posts from hundreds of posters you recall a handful of mine from several months ago about new members popping up on here, usually with a complete opposite narrative to the majority view?

Or did you keep a notebook, "posters on my radar"?

Seems odd, bordering on unlikely, that either is the case, "tbh". (See what I did there). 😀

That game against Liverpool, back in '59, how was it for you?

If you can't even understand what you post yourself or own it it is time to call it a day and don't be so precious about it 😆

I don't mind the attempted patronising comments. Here's your sentence I don't understand:

Deny all you like I see you the whole how long someone was a member was mentioned numerous times.

Are you saying that I've referred to how long somebody has been a member, a lot in previous posts?
