I dont actually think it is the Pearson factor more the LJ one where people couldn’t believe how much time he was afforded.

Great point. I think that the Lansdown's trusted LJ implicitly.

Seems to be a bit of a Mexican stand off with anyone else. Especially if they have a difference of opinion regarding footballing matters.

  2. Superb article. A club struggling to find its identity.

Seems to be more about power struggles than a shared vision of success.

The eyes of the world are now watching. The view of the Lansdown’s in the wider football community have changed and not in a positive way.

  3. A couple of years ago this forum was full of supporters who were almost polar opposites in opinions.

There were those that were almost anti anyone and there were those who were labelled “Happy Clappers”.

Many brutal arguments ensued and always seemed to result in the questioning of how true a City supporter people were.

One noticeable change under the Pearson regime seems to be the appreciation of differences of opinion amongst supporters.

It does seem to me that everyone has been behind the team whether they are happy with the way the club is being run or not. I don’t think this can be underestimated as this could be a very toxic place at times.

I attribute this to Nigel’s visibility and honesty. Like him or loathe him at least we understood his stance.

Has anyone else noticed the change amongst us as supporters over the last few years?

  4. I’m still pretty disillusioned by the decision to get rid of Nigel Pearson, even having had 24 hours to let it sink in.

This could turn out to be either a master stroke or another complete balls up which sets us back. I guess time will tell?

We have to get behind the new manager and the team, but right now I’m very concerned about the custodians of the club.

Whilst I appreciate the money that has been invested I feel a disconnection that only appears to be growing.

I’m beginning to lose interest and faith is shot to bits right now.

I’m going to see how it goes over the next few weeks and months, but I do know that if we go backwards again following this latest decision then I’m done with the Lansdown regime as I just can’t see us going anywhere or taking any statement that they come up with seriously. The statement about expecting promotion with the state of the current squad is just totally unrealistic.

At the moment I’m very close to calling it a day until the Lansdown’s are out of this club.

  5. Did what he was asked to do and improved the fitness of the team noticeably. Changed the mentality and made us competitive in every game despite injuries to many key players.

Expectations by the board to achieve promotion under those circumstances is delusional to say the least.

Thanks for committing to a project that many managers would have point blank refused to even consider seriously.

  6. The only thing I could understand is if there is a deal ready to go for investment in the club. Anything other than that then I think that the Lansdown regime is killing the club and they really have lost the plot altogether.

The statement says that results are the issue. They’ve got loads out through injury, a team full of academy youngsters, Nige has had no money to spend and yet they are expecting promotion? Seriously? Promotion? They can’t even be in the same universe as everyone else if they honestly believe we should be top of the league?

I love this club, but unless the sacking is due to some big sale to a serious investor then I’m done.

We were lucky to have such a superb calibre of manager as Nigel Pearson who worked under ludicrous constraints but who never complained publicly. Had he been given money to spend I believe that we would have eventually reached the Premier League. I really fear that we will be plunged back into another shambles and this time there really would be nowhere to hide for the Lansdown’s.

Seriously gutted by this ridiculous decision. Dumbfounded.

  7. Agree with a lot of the observations on this thread. There is another aspect to factor in here and that is confidence. Ipswich have started very brightly this season and so they are playing with more mental freedom and they are looser as a result.

In my opinion @Harry is bang on when talking about the pass either being over hit or under hit.

An example of this that I can remember is towards the end of the game (I recall we were pretty much in control of the match for the last 20 minutes) when we were in the attacking 3rd. Cornick (who gave us extra attacking impetus when he was introduced) had the ball near the touchline of the Lansdown and was facing Mark Sykes for a straightforward pass. We had bodies in the box and a bit of momentum, but the simple pass to Sykes was under cooked. Sykes had to move forward to receive the ball allowing Ipswich to close him down and snuff out the attack.

One of Alan Dicks comments from years back was about passing and said “If you are passing, pass, get it there”. If you don’t do the basics well then you’re going to end up frustrated.

If we have players fit and build a bit of momentum then we’ll have more belief and the football will start to flow.

As @Davefevs mentioned. We’re fit and are still able to compete well when out of sorts. We can battle. With the right mindset and improved passing we’d have less battling to do and more opportunities to be creative as solid passing creates extra time and space on the ball. Very fine margins.

Why is the roof so steep? Assuming it’s down to the poor quality of the stand / the physics behind it. I haven’t seen a stadium built without a flat roof in decades.

In 1965 Bristol Rovers wanted a brand new Super Stadium

It was different in many ways, the cheeky bastards wanted funding

Since World War 2 the amount of potential new ground sites is more than 26

    They’re Bristol Rovers 2015

Just listened. They were throwing a party and doing shots at the deal going through….then it didn’t and apparently it’s a bullet dodged.

    **** me ????

They talk about the new owner coming in and go through 4 different scenarios of why the Fruit Market might have stopped since he came in, but not a single one of those options included him possibly not being the multi billionaire with endless reserves of cash to throw down the drain for a completely lost cause!

Could he just be another complete charlatan with a nice watch?

Or maybe could he have other plans for the club? Like burying them and developing the land at Horfield for something more profitable perhaps? Wally is universally loved. There is no affinity with the kebab man. Easy for him to just sell them out is it not?

They don’t even seem to question the possibility that they could just be on a path to becoming another Bury FC?

    Which podcast mate?

    GasCast

The last 10 minutes is worth a listen.

First bit talks about how they were having a party to celebrate JCH’s homecoming and they were getting up to the minute updates from someone who was ITK.

Then at 11pm they realised that the deal wasn’t happening and describe the celebration as turning into what they describe as ‘more like a funeral’

What’s better - a statement for the sake of it that might kill any semblance of a chance of getting a deal over the line?

Or staying silent for a little while longer to figure out plan A is definitely dead vs getting plan B onto the front burner.

If things really are as the article suggests and discussions are on a knife edge, confirming this in public won't help.

conygar may depend on us to get the area up and running and We probably hold a very good set of cards and may be trying for a final ace with a threat of pulling out. We already have a stadium and land. Maybe its us who are in charge for a change.

The delusion is strong in this one ☝️

Some think that the new kebab man who has a 55% stake in the tinpot outfit has come in and decided that the Fruitihad isn’t favourable enough for Da Gas and has better plans for the future….???‍♂️

Honestly, their delusion is off the scale.
