This is the actual commentary on the Bristol Rovers iFollow. The 40,000+ armchair supporters and south stand season ticket holders must be foaming at the mouth, putting their foot through the TV screen whilst shouting “******* Shitheads!”

  2. Having a look at the building site today.

Wycombe commentators taking the piss big time.

They’ve commented that the ground on the left hand side tails off a bit, probably down a sink hole.

Then they said “Don’t know what the new stand will be like but it’s in keeping with the rest of the ground, a bus stop next to a tent, next to a bit of scaffolding”.

Agent Low puts Wycombe 1 up to a chorus of Wanchor and Sheeeed’ead.

Entertainment all round today at the cess pit.

So, despite BCC telling them to stop, they are still carrying on with the build. The Council`s statement a week or two back could not have been clearer - stop work until we tell you it can proceed. That`s really going to endear them to the the planning officers.  They should turn it down as a matter of principle now - pour encourager les autres.

But of course, `We`re Bristol R*overs, we do what we want`.

I really hope it all does go tits up for them, it will be only what they deserve for trying to ride roughshod over the rules.

Yeah, **** it. Let's just go for it because we've sold seat tickets.

Get it done and BCC can take us to court if they can be bothered.

    Up Da Gaz innit!

I'm no expert, but that appears to be the bit on the side. Isn't it the main section (backing onto Alton Road) that has caused most upset? They probably assume they can get on with that bit without issue.

Looks like a bus stop to me...

SL is 71 next week. That’s over a decade older than NP, who himself was talking last week about age, time and bucket lists. This will just be a number for many on here, but when your a bit older you have a profound sense of time and time running out. I’m sure SL desperately wants to see City in the top flight again, because like me he can remember 76-80 clearly. But if I were him, with probably a bit more active, healthy time left and 1.8 billion in the bank, I’d be looking to offload the hassle of City. Like a shot, frankly, given that I could still go to any game, anywhere whenever I want. I suspect that’s where SL has understandably got too.I think it’s to his credit that he appears to be approaching the sale ( because he’s publicly been open to offers for several years) carefully and without an obvious desire to sell to the first outfit, however questionable, that promises to protect his investment.

The problem is that he wants to sell ‘Bristol Sport’ which nobody is interested in.

They would be interested in Bristol City, but not the other sports I’d imagine?

Two comments from two small time managers? Is that classified as “constantly complimented” or whatever you said (I don’t care enough to look back)

Yeah, they pride themselves on the atmosphere at Membley being toxic….go figure?! ?

  8. 13 hours ago, Hot Air said:

Never heard it at the Mem. I have however heard opposition fans and managers repeatedly say that it is difficult place to play because of the home fans and the atmosphere they generate.

Collins does need to be given a rest. He has been out of form since the end of last season - he won best player in the league because of his pre-Christmas form. Bring in Sinclair and stick with Marquis upfront.

Finley is struggling and replacing him with Bogarde for a few games seems a good decision.

Loft isn't useless but isn't a top-half L1 striker and needs to be moved on.

I see that your fans are calling for a new striker. Why not JCH? I'm surprised no championship club has taken a gamble on him yet.

It’s probably due to the fact that every other song is about Bristol City, so I guess the opposition fans are confused as to who they are actually playing?

As the neutral Villa groundhoppers said “And the fans are dreadful, they’ve got one club anthem that they tried to get going but it’s just not got going and then every other song is about Bristol City, at least Bristol City have got that section in the corner”

    Atmosphere = “Sheeeed’ead! Sheeeed’ead! Sheeeed’ead!”

Particularly enjoyed the Rovers fans support at the Torquay match a few years back. How did it go again? Oh yes, I remember, “BOO **** OFF ******* RUBBISH BOO ******* DOG SHIT!”

Colin Daniel and co didn’t find it a difficult place to play at, but then again, they were wearing Rovers shirts ?

Atmosphere second to none alright at the Tinpotteries

  9. Spending vast sums of money guarantees nothing.

What if we fork out £9 million on a proven goal scorer only to find out that he has done his ACL at the training ground and is out for the rest of the season?

Shoving youngsters into the team is a bad idea? Where would the £25 million from Scott be if we had stopped doing that and had paid over the odds to sign someone who probably wants a hefty wage to go with it?

Losing Tommy and Andi Weimann is a big blow to us, but spunking money on Championship players would end up with us failing FFP and having points deducted.

There is the talent in League One and Two so if we were to spend I’d be happier to spend it there.

Just need to find the right type of replacement for Scott and it won’t necessarily have to cost millions.

  10. I don’t think you can compare the women’s game with the men’s game, apart from the psychological aspect.

What stands out for me with Weigman is that she doesn’t seem to worry too much about the opposition and prefers to focus on the strengths of her own team.

This is where the men could learn. So often we have been guilty for taking the lead and then dropping deep to defend it and it doesn’t work.

Our pace and attacking threat is a worry for anyone. The French were certainly worried when we played them in the World Cup, but we refused to get at their fullbacks (which Morocco did with ease) and exposed them time and time again.

The England women when they break are very direct, the men get forward, spend a while looking for gaps and then play it back into the midfield and try to build again. This doesn’t play to our strengths and is frustrating to watch.

The women trust each other and play to their strengths which in turn breeds confidence and improves their mentality.

Even when under pressure they don’t panic and then they slow the match down at the end and manage it out having broken the spirit of the opposition.

Gareth is far too conservative and is not a winner. We are certainly capable of winning a trophy with the men, but he’s not the coach to get the job done.

The women have the right coach and although they will have less of the ball tomorrow than they are used to I would still expect them to be patient in their approach and when they do get the opportunity to break they will play to their strengths, not panic and be clinical because they know how to find a way to win.

Its interesting - Rovers have often adopted their 'small-time' (or 'tinpot') aspects in the same way that Wimbledon did in the 1980s, with the 'Crazy Gang' mentality - Steve Hamer, a former chairman, even directly drew this comparison. You'll recall that we actually embraced this at Twerton.

In contrast, it is City's attempt to make the leap into a genuine contender that invariably amuses. Watching you try and then fall flat on your face, as in the 2008 play-off final, is a continual source of amusement. You try so hard to be 'massive' but never quite make it.

I’d never seen so many genuinely worried Gasheads when we unexpectedly reached the play off final. Those I knew kept making a point of letting me know that they felt that we were going to do it and it was more a case of them trying to prepare themselves for what would have been their worst nightmare and also a defeatist attempt to try and soften the blow in hope that we wouldn’t revel in it and rub it in their faces.

They bit their nails just as much as we did that day, but **** me, when the final whistle went they didn’t half crawl out from under their stones and start giving it the biggun again!

It was (even since 1982) the best finish outside of the top division and it was a little stick that Gasheads could enthusiastically beat us with for a while.

But then……..along came Colin Daniel and eclipsed everything that had gone before by a country mile.

All those love-ins with Windass came back to haunt you big-time. Two Divorces and imaginary City fans in the Mansfield end and ‘waiting outside’ for you.

You reap what you sow and you deserve to have the piss ripped out of you royally.

You’ve completely lost your way in this thread and have now gone all philosophical Barton on us.

Any attempt by Gasheads to ridicule City will always be feeble because you have nothing of any credible substance other than singing the blues when you win and we lose (one match).

You are a sinking dinghy, certainly not the titanic (oh, thanks for that one too by the way).

The only thing that triggers anyone is when we refer to you as ‘Tinpot’

And you are so ******* TINPOT! ???

Oh dear. Where do you begin with that?

I assume they went on the web looking for a character whose name is Jack or Hunt.

Should have gone for Ethan Hunt, that would have looked fantastic as the tag line they have used in the picture (pushing for promotion) would have been followed with 'Mission Impossible'.

Remember Joey’s words following relegation from League One. “The other side of the City will be laughing at us, sinking ship and it’s the Titanic at the moment’.

Lets hope this bus will be reversing fairly quickly !                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   This start of season feels so very different, doesn't it?

A renewed sense of purpose is running through Bristol Rovers. I can certainly feel it as well in the positive vibes from many on gas chat. The prospect of glory, promotion and possibly champions is certainly worth thinking about.

Our squad, strengthened seemingly every week, have returned to the training pitch with a fire in their bellies that's unmistakable as seen in our recent performances.

Joey Barton's passion is infectious and clearly attracts top players. We can be confident about the future. There's an aura of determination and unity around this club that's the hallmark of any footballing success.

A winning culture is being forged, and for those of us who've stood by Rovers through thick and thin, this feeling is as precious as silverware.

The whispers of hope are growing louder, not only within the stands but within gaschat. Our Dreams, long held in check, are converging with the reality of what our club can achieve. No longer looking down but looking up to the future.

Joey Barton has nurtured a spirit that is seen in of champions, and our style of play is imbued with the same energy, the same hunger that defined the great teams of yesteryears.

This season, the road to promotion is in front of us. The bus is here, as it has been since 2011, ever hopeful, waiting for us to climb aboard and carve our name in the annals of Bristol Rovers football history.

For me, I am daring to dream of the unattainable - To be Champions - the ground-breaking goal. Like everyone, I’ll take promotion in anyway.

With the right mindset and the talent in our squad anything is possible.

The bus is ready to ride again.

Stay off the drugs. Drugs are bad. Mmmkay? ?

In the interview Hussain Al-Saeed states that he hopes the developer will build the stadium for them in return for getting the Memorial Stadium site. Out of interest, does anyone know the value of the land at Horfield?  Rovers are talking about getting a 17,000 seater stadium but the figures don’t add up. As a comparison, York City’s new 8,500 capacity ground cost £44m to build, and work started on that 6 years ago.

When I listened to the bumbling Wally interview with Geoff I swear that he said that Membley and the Fruitihad weren't linked in any way? Sounds like Wally hasn't had a chat with Hussain about this? Unless of course the whole thing is just a load of 'Hot Air'....which brings me nicely on to the next subject.....

Do you talk about PL football?  I hope not, because you've never been in it.

Every so often one deluded inbred breaks cover and attempts to take on the 'Dustbin Thread' regulars.

1982, Bros? When City were Tinpot etc etc - Do you have anything more up to date and relevant?, or are you simply buried deep in the past like so many of your deluded, dribbling, crayon munching comrades?

Do you worship the Tote End and possess a "FTG" number plate by any chance?

    Let's talk present tense instead.....

Your club is a 'laugh a minute' joke. - Recent Past and Present.

You haven't got a pot to piss in - Present

You have been in our shadow for nearly 23 years - Present

Your club is smaller than Peterborough - Present...seeing as you have been discussing attendances

Membley has a bigger pile of rubble than Fred Flintstone FFS!

Your club is the very definition of TINPOT and it's ******* hilarious.

Thanks for being the gift that continues to give and thanks for adding to our entertainment.
