  1. Just watched his first interview at Bournemouth. He is very grounded for a 19 year old and genuinely surprised by how far he has come in the last 3 years.

He is very complimentary when it comes to Bristol City and how he will always be grateful for the opportunities that he was given by the club.

Clearly excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, and describes it as every kids dream. It’s almost like he can’t believe it himself having been disillusioned with football after being released by Southampton and totally lacking self belief.

It’s a credit to him that he remains humble despite the fact that he is clearly a very talented footballer.

He is top class all round and deserves every success in the future.

Pleased he extended his contract to ensure that we benefited well financially from his departure.

We’re definitely more financially solid now and the next few years shouldn’t be as frustrating as the previous few.

  2. Positives - We didn’t lose. Zak Vyner looked very composed. 2nd half he was excellent. Dickie had a solid debut. Players looked fit. Worked hard off the ball.

Negatives - Looked nervy after taking the lead. Slow and predictable build up play. Struggling to see any quality in Cornick. Equaliser had been coming and we failed to take control of the game. Missed Alex Scott in midfield. Think we would have been more creative had he been fit.

I'm not sure why any City fan should care that much to be honest, they're irrelevant. Part of me actually wants them to get promoted, get a better ground so we can have a proper derby for a change. It's down to them to get their arse in gear and play us on the pitch, but they're usually all mouth so I'm not sure why any of us lot should be bothered.

Loads of reasons. Would take far too long to explain, but wanting us to go under so that they could steal Ashton Gate would be top.

Hopefully they’ll drop back out of the football league at some point and shut the door on the way out. Gone never to return, let alone another derby with their family supporters trashing our ground. No thanks. Tada Tinpot.

I’m normally all for having a go at them, but I believe that unicorn is part of a trail raising money for leukaemia research. That it’s rovers themed makes sense considering where it is. (There’s also one at AG). Not sure with all else they give us to laugh at that this is really something to go for.

No idea of the relevance of what it is for and in no way mocking the charity, it’s just so unfortunate with what is going on at Rovers at the moment that they have a unicorn in a Rovers shirt.

(EDIT: Not knocking the charity by the way….just an unfortunate choice of character)

They dig more holes for their reputation than they do for a stand.

Absolutely priceless. Complete and utter laughing stock tinpot shambles.

(after getting relegated to non league of course).

I’ve got the bag of popcorn ? open already. They really need to change their stance to ‘we’ll lap it up once it actually starts to happen’, but we know that they won’t do that, they’ll just cling to anything because they are that desperate and needy and that’s what gives us the laughs.

There is more chance of plaiting fog than that stand being anywhere near in place by August given how long planning is taking. Absolute farce.

At least you can now see through the bull like we've been seeing (and pointing out on this thread) for years.

Yet it's barmy how a lot of Gasheads still believe every single line that they are fed and lap it up continuously?

Rovers will never evolve under it's current ownership. It is merely existing hand to mouth from one year to the next. I think there is more chance of Rovers going back to League 2 (and possibly even the conference) than actually having their own ground and having a stable footing.

So ... fixture release breakfast was ok.

TG happy with Pompey and Barnsley up first.

Two possibly three in by Monday as mentioned above... Was very clear that Club are aiming for a top six finish and will be recruiting players that will have the ability to get us there. WAQ is fully supporting financially. He has seen the quality of what has been signed elsewhere we were not in for any of them.

Apologies from me to Eddy Jennings - Even on the morning of his wedding he was trying to tie up a new deal and gave himself the challenge of getting the player over the line on his wedding day.

Everything on course for the new stand - We should not believe what we read in the media as all things are progressing well.

Everything felt a little rushed today but TG was coolest man in the room - we are in very good hands.

Also learnt today from an attendee that our highest paid player as things stand is Big JM - by some distance as well. Made me think even more that AC will need parity or will almost certainly move on as his salary was far lower.

A few highlighted bits here. Let's see how things unfold then shall we?

Why do they just lap it up continuously without question?

******* braindeads the lot of them.

    Unfolding nicely as predicted (already)......

So far the "Top 6" signings include

    • A has-bean "Ex-Sheed"
    • Someone who threatened to walk when he was last at Rovers
    • A woman beater

    The new stand is.......not there

In very good hands - Everything on the cheap, zero morals, divided fan base, some fans giving up on the club altogether etc...but at least the players have some footballing ability so everything is sweet.

When will the penny drop for the rest of you Saggies?

    The gift!

I don’t think you can ever be done with the club you chose to support, but you might take a break from it if you felt that the club was in the wrong hands.

All banter aside I’d have serious concerns if this was the way things were going at City.

Looking at it without blue-tinted specs it seems like the only way Rovers can mount a serious challenge in League One is to pick up flawed players on the scrounge and put some sort of rehabilitation spin on it. Smacks of a club without a pot to piss in who will sink as low as you can go as long as it’s done on the ‘cheap’.

At the same time the lines being fed to the supporters are that the club is on the up, serious about a top 6 challenge and hard to hold back Wael from splashing the cash on players.

The fruit market appears to be another non starter and it’s all about trying to find someone else to fund it or lease it for years for free and the only progression appears to be the consultancy that Rovers are ‘talking to’ have paid to assess the site. This is how it appears to me. Just feeding the fans bullshit and then not too far in the distance there is yet more controversial news that reflects negatively on the club.

To top it off you keep giving us Ted’s plenty to take the piss out of. Must be uncomfortable to be a Gashead, humiliating and embarrassing.

Not surprised that you’ve become disillusioned by it all fella. It’s hard to completely give up on a club once it’s in your blood though. Red or Blue!

If their preseason friendlies include a chap called ‘Trialist’, we’ll immediately know who it is!

From henceforth they’ll still be BRFC, but will be officially renamed Bristol Remanders FC.

Top 6 guaranteed as they’ll bully and assault their way to the top of league one.

The ground is being renamed ‘The Priory’

What a basket case of a club! The gift ?

I find it encouraging that so many of them are seeing it fit to admit on their forum that their kids want to go to Ashton Gate because all their mates are.

It shows just how much their fanbase must be ageing with little or no new blood coming in to follow them.

It does seem like the only young fans that they get these days are those who have been forced to go by their deluded parents.

They’re forced into a Rovers baby grow before the umbilical cord has had a chance to be cut.

“I took my boy from when he was 18 months” and there you have it. So desperate that they’ll drag a baby there before they even know what day of the week it is?! ?

I actually think a target man is becoming more effective than ever. Lot's of CB's are now becoming more of a footballer, great with the ball at their feet but not as big and strong as previously. Prime example is Naismith or Vyner for us.

We got bullied away at Luton, who had the big bloke up front. Morris? Can't remember.

Anyway yes the game is becoming more technical, but a target man can still do the job and cause havoc.

Another prime example of this was when we got thumped at Fulham.

The way Mitrovic bullied our defenders that day was embarrassing.

  15. A number of things have changed in the modern game, fitness levels and diet being a massive one.

Traditional full backs have been replaced by wing backs who now cover the entire length of the pitch and as such we've sacrificed the out and out winger.

I certainly miss seeing the ball go to Dave Smith or Mark Gavin and shouting 'go on, skin him!'. Nothing better than watching a tricky winger run directly at the full back and skin them before crossing the ball into the box for the big lump to bully in with a thumping header or knock it down for the fox in the box to tuck it home.

It's not just the pointless hoof from the keeper, but also the loss of the tricky wingers with sheer pace that makes the target man less effective these days.

I'm always nervous about playing it out from the back unless you have ballers who are always switched on. One slip and it's a one on one with the keeper.

I also find this probing around the box looking for the short pass opening through the defensive line can be frustrating to watch. When the defenders are facing the right way they've pretty much got things covered, especially if they are good communicators and hold a tight line.

Tactically I feel that sometimes this needs to be changed and if you get a big man up top and switch to more attack minded wingers who can get behind the wing backs and cross the ball back away from the keeper then the big man thumps a header home or your centre backs are facing the wrong way, panic, put it out for a corner, inadvertently turn it into their own net, or struggle to clear it allowing your forwards to gain the advantage as they are the only ones facing the right way.

For entertainment value I'd take the old style in a flash, but I do understand that the modern game is more patient and done properly can make teams very difficult to beat.

    Well, if that isn't convenient...

So either all of the other clubs are signing players in an attempt to get relegated to League 2, or probably closer the the truth is that these players have league experience and come with a price tag higher than a Tilson which is why Rovers weren’t in for any of them.

Rovers are planning on storming the top 6 through loaning youngsters with little to no experience and Wally’s full financial backing will cover the £250 quid a week wages.

Yep, they’re in such good hands alright.

    Cloud cuckoo land.

They’ll probably sign a 38 year old who’s knees have gone and unveil as their marquee signing.

Its about time the CEO told the EFL to do one, we predominantly get an away draw to start the season, because its a tad difficult for City to organise policing for the Balloon fiesta. Who gives a flying crap? Its not our problem. Being away most seasons means we statistically have less chance of a win, which in turn affects a number of following games if we lose. Then to cap it all off, we are also away on NYD and the last day of the season.

    ???

**** me. This self entitled *** thinks they should be playing Scunthorpe under-17s at home every ******* week so they can have a chance of winning.

Puts the boot in on the 23k that follow them away by saying that they might as well surrender before a ball is even kicked.
