  1. Remember, he wrote this himself in the hope that anyone who reads it will think "Wow, he sounds like a guy on the up ..."
  2. I love LinkedIn ... I am lucky enough to have worked in football for the last 8 years. My journey has taken me from Portsmouth FC where I started as an intern, working in every department before settling in the marketing department in a full-time role. During my four years at the club we experienced two relegations, two administrations and an FA Cup Final. The highlight of my time at the club was receiving the Family Club of the Year award in 2012. This achievement marked a stark change from the clubs failure to achieve the Football League’s family Excellence standard just a year earlier. Tasked with improving this area I set about changing the ethos of the club to put the fan at the heart and improve the match day experience. This resulted in an increase in season ticket holders for the 2012-13 season despite relegation to League One. The experience gained here stood me in good stead for my future career. At Cardiff, in the first year, my team increased matchday hospitality revenue by over 200% from the previous season as well as leading us to the 2013 Family Club of the year Award. One area that received particular praise has been our new Away Fan Strategy which was recently featured in the Independant: http://tinyurl.com/nuhym5u In addition we also produced a family video to demonstrate the ethos of the club, this was extremely well received and can be viewed here: http://tinyurl.com/cj56gaj In addition to this I was awarded the Star of the Future Award at the 2013 Football Hospitality Awards. I currently Head of Marketing at Brighton & Hove Albion where I am responsible for our sales strategies for all club commercial channels including ticketing, commercial, retail and non-matchday events. In 2015, I received the Rising Star Award at the Stadium Business Awards in Barcelona and in 2016 I was part of the inaugural Sports Industry Next Gen programme with honours. With the latter I am on a leadership programme in partnership with Barclays.
  3. Presumably the white object behind the cameraman is the sponsors board, in front of which, managers and players are interviewed? Looks like a few more sponsors wouldn't go amiss.
  4. It was the offer of a free Skybet breakfast that got them there. Anything for a hot meal.
  5. Well for more than 50 years they've had me thinking they're shite. I'm convinced now.
  6. A -3 goal difference after just 5 games must be troubling for them. Shame.
  7. If 281 gasheads are in a stand and the Sky cameras are there to see them, do they make a noise?
  8. I watched the beam back (as we now call it) of that match in the East End where it was projected onto a big white tablecloth!
  9. A potential site for their new stadium, perhaps? A bit inconvenient when the ball gets hoofed over the wall and drops down onto the beach but hey ...
  10. Sorry to hear that. Hope you're better soon.
  11. No you wouldn't! You'd love to have a big library rather than your shitty campsite but that'll never happen. You'd like a big attendance too but again ... Whether it's your results, attendances, failed ground plans or fans behaviour, you always give us something to laugh at and to brighten our days for which we are very grateful.
  12. Surely, their break-even must be 9k+? If their supporters won't put their hands in someone's pocket, you have to ask: why should Wael? Oh, he hasn't.
  13. 8,363 (including 91 from Fleetwood). I'll just leave this here.
  14. Wes Burns on the bench for Fleetwood. Wouldn't it be great if ...
  15. Every couple of weeks they hold a contest to see how many jesters can squeeze into a tent. The answer is not as many as you'd they think.
  16. "I was getting my computer fixed the other day ..."
  17. This is the main point. Any new stadium build/refit/theft which the gas undertake will only ever be in use on just 23 league (for obvious reasons, I've excluded cup competitions) match days each season; they no longer have the rugby club to provide them with an alternative revenue stream. For goodness sake, now that they're a pasty hut down, even their expected match day food revenues are going to be cut in half. Use of any stadium needs to be maximised in order to contribute to Return on Investment. SL has recognised this and has already set up AG to be the biggest conference and training venue in the south-west. The Rovers will find it very tough to penetrate with their own offering, what will have by then become a very mature, recurring revenue stream for City. If he can't see it for himself, Wael's family will not see a compelling investment case - and they are investment bankers after all; they will also struggle to find and convince to invest in 'the project', other mugs third parties. I can't believe that it will be so long before from WAQ is heard, that dreaded catchphrase from Dragon's Den: "I'm out".
  18. Wearing his club tracksuit top emblazoned with WAQ (I'm sure it should be WANQ) he said, without laughing: "Stadium criteria has improved or changed in recent times ... you have safe standing ... I'm VERY interested in that ... in creating a stadium that is cosy, where fans can create a very good atmosphere because that is important in a stadium ...it is too difficult to say whether it will be a complete rebuild or a partial regeneration ... we have to take everything into account but the advisors we have who have vast experience in stadium redevelopment and stadium builds, are very confident they can find the best solution for this club moving forward. They have built 12 projects. There have already been past planning permissions and I believe it will be easier and less complicated to revisit these and with the experienced team, to build upon that. We will have to consult with the locals convince them and show them how this project will be beneficial to them. This is the more expensive option but we are happy to invest this money and do what it takes to give us the stadium the club needs." I wonder whether these much sought after advisors are all working for free?
  19. Watching on TV the "highlights" of their drubbing by Posh, I noticed, for the first time, just how very close the neighbouring houses are to the Tent End, in which the away fans are located. It's pretty much in "Please can we have our ball back territory". As can be seen from the attached overhead, it really will make very complex and costly, any attempt that they make to turn their current tip into a cosy new build. (Nice, even stripes on the pitch btw!)
  20. Artist impression already produced ...
  21. It would have been sold out twice over if it hadn't been for that pesky balloon fiesta ...
