    Joey Barton has arrived

Joey Barton is sitting quietly at the back of the court waiting for proceedings to start. He arrived a short time ago with his wife Georgia - who he is accused of assaulting. (pictured in between them is a member of his legal team)

I never, ever, left that place without having left my brain behind.

    Them steins were lethal.

"As we understand, a number of Rovers players woke up this morning with symptoms, hence the late postponement."

Player waking up with "symptoms" on New Years Day following New Years Eve?

Even the supporters coach was already half way down the M4...

Sounds like an admission of something....now what could that be ....hmmmmm???

The bit in bold might just have been me expanding a teeny bit what was in his mind at the time! The problem with Barton is that it is hard to understand anything he comes out with so you can attribute anything to him and it becomes credible!

This was the original article without my interpretation:-

Can’t seem to find any footage of Barton’s post match interview,,anyone?

Barton said: “That’s seven red cards for us this season, which is too many. I have never imposed a disciplinary code as a manager, fining players for being sent off, but I might change that.

“I will also stop telling my lads to stay on their feet and play like men because opposition players are conning the referee left, right and centre.

“Sam Finley was stupid to get involved in the incident that got him sent off. But I have watched it back five times and it was no more than a shoulder-to-shoulder contact which is something I know all about."

Tree down in Gloucester Road today.

Is this a sign that the SAGs will be three down by the end at the mighty Forest Green Rovers?

The Blue Few will be green with envy when they see the ground and facilities at the New Lawn.

They have nothing to fear as they are only up against a team of "veggie lady gardens"

  7. Barton, 39, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday for the start of his trial, which is expected to last a week.

He is accused of assaulting the then Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel in the tunnel at the South Yorkshire side's Oakwell Stadium, on April 13 2019, when he was managing the visiting side, Fleetwood Town.

A jury of seven women and five men was sworn in and sent home after being told the prosecution will open its case on Monday morning.

It was selected after each potential juror was asked a series of questions about football and the defendant.

These included "have you heard of the wife-beating violent thug Joey Barton" and "do you have any opinions about wife-beating violent thug Joey Barton".

Potential jurors were asked whether they were at the match, watched it on TV and whether they had read press reports of an "off-pitch incident at that game".

They were also asked whether they supported either of the teams involved and whether they followed football closely.

Bespectacled Barton, who now manages Bristol Rovers, watched the jury selection process from the dock flanked by a security guard.

He was wearing a dark blue suit, a lighter blue shirt with matching handkerchief and a dark tie.

He denies one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, adjourned the trial until Monday and Barton was given unconditional bail.
