Well, I don’t think Bradford were on their way to the top at that point in time Maj ..... they were relegated to the third tier a couple of years after we beat them up there and it took them ten years to reach the premier league from when we stuffed ‘em....however, during their league cup run that year they beat both Everton and Spurs I believe so our result was not to be sniffed at...

88/89 we beat em in cup

89/90 we got promoted and they got relegated

Thank you, certainly changed over the last few years.

I often point out to fans at meetings and during match day that often there are only 2 Bristol police officers on for most games of football , previously this figure would have been much higher.

As always I would ask people to consider the ride a long scheme, you can apply and come out for a shift with a response officer, neighbourhood officer or our ost units that do operational support . It is very much an eye opener !

All we ask is that you bring doughnuts !!

can I get you to sit on my lap Julie?...…….is that the eye opener you mention?

I know I should let things like this go over my head but reading absolute garbage like this really boils my piss. It's an insult to the likes of my own Dad who bought shares in the club and 5 year season tickets in 82 to ensure that we stayed alive.. and the hundreds that travelled away to places like Aldershot and Halifax when we were bottom of the fourth tier. Then you've got people like Beryl Fudge who worked tirelessly behind the scenes in the dark days and Cooper and his crew who dragged us back from the abyss to become the top team in Bristol. Divvy Saunders RIP, who rallied a struggling side during his last weeks.Who do they think they are? Jehovas chosen ones?

Wish I could sign up to that forum and knock them straight off that high horse of theirs.

I think the high horses have already been knocked.....

    And thank god for that!

I’ve been supporting City for 30 years, so we have only ever been 2 places higher than we are now in all that time!

There is a chance that by 10pm tonight, I will never have seen us higher placed than we sit in the league.

Some still like to argue that LJ doesn’t know what he’s doing..!

I think I’ll choose to back the self made Billionaire, who’s invested unimaginable amounts of money in the club, provided us with a stadium that is the envy of many, far bigger clubs, and had the foresight to believe that LJ was the man to trust in taking us higher than anyone else in my time watching us has managed.

Ironically, the only man to have taken us as high as we could be at 10pm tonight and were for a short time last season, was LJ’s father..!

last season 2nd for quite a while......07/08 top for quite a bit towards end of season but faded...…..didn't see last sentence

Oh it was all cringey stuff alright, but the quote was 'tried to invade the family section and seats were thrown'

You can pretty much see all that happened in the video., although what might not be clear is that the guy on the ground with 5 or 6 stewards and police trying to keep him down is a Plymouth fan who ran onto the pitch after the goal towards the Rovers fans which is what really started it all. The rest was the embarrassing spectacle of a few Rovers fans walking past the netting and staying there saying 'come on then' and a few Plymouth fans doing the same. They all stood there saying 'come on then' for a while giving the police enough time to walk up the steps to prevent anyone actually having to throw a punch and getting hurt. Outside after the game was all pretty much more of the same.

I've seen all sorts of fans (including City) do this sort of thing over the years, you know the pose, crucifix position, suggesting they want a fight, when really , if you gave them a pair of gloves and asked them to step into a boxing ring, they would run a mile. It's all hideously cringeworthy.

I seemed to have strayed from the original point that Rovers did not try to 'get into a family section' I find it hard to believe that the section next to us was a family section, it certainly didn't look like it, and I certainly didn't see seats thrown, although I concede in that video it looks like a couple of things were chucked.

the sight of the skull and crossbones flag being waved about would have scared off the kids so yeah it wouldn't have looked like a family section ….

Yep they did, and flashed them up on their scoreboard.....but bizarrely I remember when we were at home to Wigan, I think it was, in the early 2000s and Rovers won 0-5 away at Oxford on the same day and we flashed up their score updates on the scoreboard above the East End - why?????!!!!!

same day they had a pop at the lions
