We're perhaps 2 light IMO, and yet imbalanced in the odd area overall.
3-4 GKs now..As in 2-3 to cover or compete wirh O'Leary.
Remove 2 of Bajic, Thomas, Wiles-Richards and get one more in to truly compete with O'Leary.
Think we're one CB light too ans maybe the odd area, but at the same time some of the absentees have been rolling and ridiculous..McCrorie joins summer, cannot feature until early January and then Twine joins, across and is out injured.
It won't be Thomas he's extended for 18 months.

I do agree though. Keep him as third keeper, move on (if possible) Bajic and let go HWR if not deemed good enough and get in proper competition for Max.

And we know Knight is a “standards setter” too.
For both of them to reach that many appearances already, both to captain Derby at times and Knight to represent his country 24 caps and captain us already should say everything.

The talk about losing characters and experience is overlooking likely due to their age. The experience/characters we'll have with just Knight and Bird.
This Derby interview with them both at 150 appearances each a year ago shows this:

I know many will say “he’s one of our top earners, he’ll have to take a cut”, and I tend to agree, but in some respects you can treat him like a free transfer / academy player, virtually all of his fee amortisation is now sunk. So if you have to pay a little more than his going rate, the fact you aren’t having to sign a new player makes it cheaper in the long run.
He’s been putting up good numbers all season.
In fairness, I've been saying that too but each and every game he's played I've been more and more convinced we've got to retain him. Especially if we're losing James and King.
I think Tinnion eluded to this in his RB interview. He said they are playing for their contracts and didn't sound convicing but picked Williams out specifically re the form he's in.

Imagine going into the summer knowing midfield is sorted. That would be really good.
Yeah not sure we've been in that position for a while now. We've had decent players but we'll have the strength in depth you've mentioned. To cover inevitable injuries, suspensions, form ect.
Across the board asides from the elusive striker position. Although it's an annoyance to look to next season already I do think we've got a good squad going forward.

The thinking at the start of this season would have been to not renew.
Now it's intirely a different story. Think he's got back to his Wigan form days. He's been brilliant.

Mentality and leadership. Plus the fact he’s very good with the ball.
You talk some nonsense. Without knowing any context of who practices penalties, who put themselves forward ect. You'd choose Dickie because he's good with the ball as a centre back. I'm sure he can put away a pen but that logic is brainless.

60 minutes for Roberts, King and Cornick accumulatively. Over 80 minutes for McCrorie (most he's managed so far)
Around 40 mins for Jamie Knight-Lebel. That'll do him some good.
Other fringe players getting minutes. That hopefully will do us some favours for fitness as a squad in the league.

Not denying that but he’s the sort of player you just know isn’t going to score a pressure pen. Why not Matty James?
It's less predictable than something negative being said by you.

We will have minimum 3 more players all being well available this Saturday.
Then the return to a back 3, sorry a bit self-inflicted.
King and Roberts wouldn't of made it. Knight although has bundles of energy can't be run into the ground.
It's needs must.

What on earth is he doing!!! LJ square pegs.
You are so predictable.
Explain what you would have done please based on the subs bench?

To be honest though, for clubs like us that don't have parachute payments, what is the alternative strategy? The key is obviously your scouting/recruitment being absolutely on point but inevitably not every player you sign is going to be an Adam Webster. I think it is actually easier in some ways to play this strategy out at the lower end of the market (<£2m) than it is when you suddenly have £5m to spend on a player. The risk is far higher and your margin for error is a lot lower. I know they've picked up now, but I look at some of the business Coventry did in the summer and I guarantee they've made a couple of mistakes. Haji Wright £8m prime example.
A lot of posters on here wanted Ali Al Hamadi including me. I think he's a great pick up and will do we'll for you.

I'm sorry but that is drivel. We had as many errors playing out from the back in that game as we have all season. We are very good at it generally and we've scored far more goals than we've conceded by playing that way.
It was one of those halves on Saturday. We were sloppy and nothing went for us.
I know you guys don't like Ashton but I find the dislike for us a bit odd to be honest. Clubs that aren't in receipt of parachute payments should be united and happy to see another club defying the odds to compete! I certainly would be if the boot was on the other foot.
We've really missed Hirst since Boxing Day (and Morsy has been suspended for 3 games too). Moore is in and up and running now though. After West Brom on Saturday, we have a run of 9 games where you are the best team we play. So that's where we need to make hay. We've already played Leeds and Leicester twice. I back us to go close to the top 2. But if we finish in the top 6 it is an amazing season for us regardless.
Not all care that much. I definitely don't it's all in the past for me. You are just another team in the league. There's alot of resentment on here for Ashton and rightly so but there's no denying he's done well with you. I think some fans are just hoping the wheels fall off to feel some sort of retribution. We used to get it with Barnsley fans when LJ was manager which I also thought was odd at the time.

Playing in the 10 role.
From their forum;
"Stokes will be benched soon, doesn't seem the same last 4 games since Bristol City move."
He's got 2 assists in those 4 games so if that's disinterested performances that's encouraging.

And had Nige of brought a player in for a position were well stocked in I'd have questioned that too.
Securing Bird now makes sense unless it's cost us a huge amount to do so.
Mebude makes less sense. Although I do like the try before we buy aspect.
Why do you say that out of interest?

So many moany gits on here. This club won't sign anyone.. we need pace, power blah blah. Omg can't believe we're signing this player. Waste of time.

We should have bought more than 5 players in the summer? When was the last time we did that?
We also lost 6 players in the summer. If you think we shouldn't of strengthened up top in the summer that's your opinion. At the time the concensus was that we needed more me included. Evidence is playing out that way. We we're under necessary austerity for multiple seasons prior due to our financial mess. That pressure has loosened due to Semenyo and Scott. We never replaced Semenyo adequately.
Even so that's upto opinion. It doesn't really matter now. We need to address it maybe in the next day or so or in the summer. Whichever way it needs to be the right deal.

I think it's all because it's transfer window time.. the typical toy throwing time of the year. My club is the worst we didn't get x, y and z players. There's probably a point in there (we should of done more business in the summer) but it's babyish to say the least.
You're right though it wasn't by any means perfect but getting a draw at a play off teams ground who have hit the best form in the league is a decent result.

I thought we looked knackered. Going to be a tough set of games coming up.
Max had a bad night but all the fans slagging him off have very short memories.

Every cloud..
Might be a good thing if we want to keep him in the summer.

You’ve said it in your own words. Squad player. I’ll challenge anyone to tell me he’d be anywhere near their first pick in any position. Even 2nd pick for any position when everyone is available.
You can't play your best available players every game. It doesn't work like that. There has to be rotation. That's why you have squads and not just 11 players. Sorry to break it to you but you can't just refill their stamina like you would on Fifa or Football Manager.

You are considerably quieter on here after a win. Still keep up that upbeat attitude though.
