Indeee he did. After leaving the gas due to Barton humiliating him and no one else at the club willing to stand up for him.

Barton bullying a young fan trying to help his club. Not surprised.. He's a cretin. Shame on the hierarchy too by the sounds of it.

Yep. I think Tetek has played for Serbia u21’s, so they’ll no doubt have some decent standard of players at that level.
I’ll be keeping my eye on these 2 (Tolaj & Tetek). Both can definitely play higher.

Don't think it's a one off either. The commentators for the match were wax lyrical about Tolaj who's scored a decent amount this season, Tetek and Stokes and how they've been playing. Jamie Hedges who is Aldershot head of recruitment has done a brilliant job so far recruiting players that haven't quite made it with academies or the lower leagues. He went with Widdrington to Kings Lynn initially from the gas voluntarily helping with recruitment as a fan.

  3. Bromley just equalised.

He's definitely got some attributes this lad. Very strong especially for 19, doesn't mind getting stuck in. Can roll his man with ease. Looking to create or shoot on goal where possible.

What I've liked more than anything is that he doesn't look fazed considering he's just signed with us. Just playing the game as he should with confidence.

I can’t get my head around Bournemouth at all . They have league 1 attendances the same TV income as clubs like Everton . Don’t gain any income from alternative uses of their stadium and spend £30-50m every season on players without selling on any home grown talent to the “ big boys” . How the hell are they within FFP rules ???

That's true but your not thinking about wages. Everton we're/are big payers. Bournemouth will hover around the 30/40/50 grand a week whereas Everton are hovering around the 80/90/100 grand plus a week on players.

One thing I can’t help but wonder is whether Stokes and Murphy factor into the club’s thinking around the Twine loan. Possibly not and this may be very premature but we could have one or both attacking midfielders pushing for a place in the squad come the summer meaning that, if we could not agree the right price for Twine we still have options in the squad that enable us to maintain the same shape (even if they would obviously need settling in time and not bring what Twine could bring anywhere near as immediately)

    Murphy isn't a 10.

You missed the excellent playing career , winning L1 , The Championship and the Premier League......

    The International Caps .......

The comments from some of the younger players over the last couple of seasons as to how much of a help....

Missed all those things ....did you.....

As always , jumping early on even the slightest bit of debate or (perceived) criticism of the club or the hierarchy

As for my assessment of King - I couldn’t care less whether Johnson , Holden , Pearson  or Manning had brought Andy King into the club - it’s about what Andy King brings

    So predictable and narrow

Aren't you criticising the lack of contract for King a little bit too early too. You don't have the benefit at a distance (same as me) what Andy King would be like as a coach.

Surely, if he was going to get a new contract this was on the basis of being a coach going forward. As a coach none of us know his capabilities so in that respect how can this be regarded as a negative?

There are plenty of promotion winning ex players out there, that doesn't make them excellent coaches.

Firstly , no you don’t have to have that playing experience / credibility , but it certainly isn’t a negative to have that experience and experience you can’t acquire on a course

We can all find examples of outliers in any direction we wish to prove a point but if you can’t see , for us he potentially brings knowledge and experience we don’t have in the building I’m surprised.

Secondly , you are talking about Head Coaches managers in your examples -

Head Coach / Manager - another additional skill set required

We are not talking about appointing him as a head coach at this point in his career but utilising his professionalism , knowledge and experience within a set up

I can see the logic of course. I'm using head coaches because there will be examples of good coaches without the playing credentials you require. The principle is the same. I'm making more of a point that having football accomplishments doesn't make you a good coach by default.

Just seems fans are worried about losing someone who is currently a player, who could be a good coach. I'm not that worried about if, buts and maybes.

None of whom have any experience of getting to , close to , or playing in Premier League , or what is required to get there , let alone winning it

You don’t appear to value what that brings

Correct - You don’t need to be a Premier League Winner or ‘older statesman’ , but it certainly brings credibility and experience that others simply can’t provide

Is it really that simple? You have to have done it before to bring credibility and experience that only through having done it they can provide.. I'm not sure that's the case. If so Mourinho, Wenger ect would have never have done what they did based on their playing experience.

If so Rooney/Lampard didn't convey through their playing experience and credibility enough surely? I don't think it's that straight forward clearly.

  9. I can't be alone in not being that bothered. I understand concerns about losing the experience in the background, Potentially a good coach ect.

We have no idea how good his coaching is or will be. I'm sure he's a great personality with a wealth of experience but who knows if that's worth a wage? We have players who have a wealth of experience already. Vyner has been through all types of adversity at 26. Pring the same. Naismith is an older head. Rob Dickie. Even Knight at his young age has accumulated 200 plus games in Lg1/Championship.

I don't think you need to win a Premier League or be an older statesman in the side to contribute to the dressing room or help out the younger players. Time will tell but as he's on a playing wage currently I'm not too bothered and won't read into what we might lose behind the scenes.

  10. Manning or Nige are/we're both doing decent with what they have/had. We're just a bang average side. Not surprising considering the lack of spend over 3 seasons.

We needed to spend more in the summer and that was a mistake not doing so. I know fans always want new additions but literally everyone said thought so asides from the club apparently. We went into the season very light and now are trying to 'trade' in the toughest transfer window. Whilst at the same time reiterating the goal of the PL, top 6 squad ect.

For what seems the fifteenth time. Nobody is doubting the quality of the player or the fact he improves our squad, and nobody that I’ve seen is unhappy he’s here.

All anyone is saying is that it may give us a short term boost but may not be sensible long term (both in terms of cost and “starting over”) particularly as this season is not going to result in anything bar mid table. The fact that some won’t accept that’s a valid point is the thing that’s probably more bizarre.

It's definitely a valid point although slightly over stated on here. To say nothing is going to happen this season is abit premature although maybe realistic. Surely finishing as high up as possible is good for next season i.e signing other players, momentum carried. We will have a better chance with Twine.

This lad will be 20 by the end of the season. By no means old! But at that age nowadays you’d have expect them to be in and around the first time.

Not always the case I know. Pring didnt break through until couple of season ago. Forget he is 26. But that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

Given the aim is premier league football in a couple of years (I know it’s wishful thinking!), I assume we look at this kid as some with the potential to play at that level?

We have to get there first so surely the aim is for him to be Championship quality.

But I guess in response to that I’d say - This transfer would have absolutely no bearing on whether we bring someone else in this January. This is a young kid at low cost. It won’t impact any other business.

    Re the loan back.
I think you are both correct that ideally we’d want him at a higher level. But, if it was a condition of the deal then it’s good business.
Let’s say “hypothetically” that other clubs wanted him but weren’t prepared to loan him back this season, and that this is what clinched it for us, then I guess we’d say “well done”.
Aldershot have hopes of the playoffs. They’ll want to keep Stokes to aid them in that pursuit. So if we’ve been prepared to play ball on that and it’s kept us in the running then it’s good.

I agree if it was the clincher in getting the deal over the line then fine by me.

Plus it's not the end of the world he stays with Aldershot. He's doing well at a decent standard and I'm a firm believer that momentum is massive in football. If he carries on doing well in a familiar team that's more of a benefit than potentially joining another club higher up the pyramid and getting a bit part role.

Exactly and if they both aren’t ready are we just stockpiling 10’s for the future

Adam Murphy isn't strictly a 10 but can play there:

What sort of midfield role did he tend to play for St Pat's, in what sort of system/formation?

St Pat's generally play 4-2-3-1 and Adam was versatile, with the club not afraid to hand him one of the two holding roles in midfield, trusting him despite being so young. He could also play in a more advanced central role in the attacking three behind the striker.

The recently crowned PFAI Player of the Year, Chris Forrester, was a St Pat's team-mate and played holding midfield a lot of the time, which meant Adam wouldn't always start.

Or we could have done the TGH deal as it was done and then saved the money from Weimanns wages to put towards a long term solution in the summer.

There are many ways of looking at this deal. It's not just the one way like you are suggestion.

Just completely write off this season already and make no short team additions that strengthen us?

I know we're 14th but with how congested this league is we're literally 3/4 wins from being back in the mix. Do I think it's likely we'll end in the play offs honestly no. Is it very much plausible yes. More so with Twine now.

I'm all for long term strategy and for 95% of our transfer business of late it has been. However, we do have to accommodate other deals so we can give this season the best chance possible. We're in a better position for the second half of the season already with McCrorie, Roberts and Atkinson on his way back soon.
