  1. I agree if it was the clincher in getting the deal over the line then fine by me. Plus it's not the end of the world he stays with Aldershot. He's doing well at a decent standard and I'm a firm believer that momentum is massive in football. If he carries on doing well in a familiar team that's more of a benefit than potentially joining another club higher up the pyramid and getting a bit part role.
  2. You seem to be annoyed we potentially might be signing a young talent. You do know the club isn't finished after this season? I wouldn't jump to the conclusion this is the last signing we might make.
  3. Adam Murphy isn't strictly a 10 but can play there: What sort of midfield role did he tend to play for St Pat's, in what sort of system/formation? St Pat's generally play 4-2-3-1 and Adam was versatile, with the club not afraid to hand him one of the two holding roles in midfield, trusting him despite being so young. He could also play in a more advanced central role in the attacking three behind the striker. The recently crowned PFAI Player of the Year, Chris Forrester, was a St Pat's team-mate and played holding midfield a lot of the time, which meant Adam wouldn't always start. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-signing-adam-murphy-9013539
  4. Just completely write off this season already and make no short team additions that strengthen us? I know we're 14th but with how congested this league is we're literally 3/4 wins from being back in the mix. Do I think it's likely we'll end in the play offs honestly no. Is it very much plausible yes. More so with Twine now. I'm all for long term strategy and for 95% of our transfer business of late it has been. However, we do have to accommodate other deals so we can give this season the best chance possible. We're in a better position for the second half of the season already with McCrorie, Roberts and Atkinson on his way back soon.
  5. Twine could be on less than Weimann. Meaning we save a proportion of his wage to cover a part of any fee applicable. The part about TGH is irrelevant about our commitment to paying him over 3 years unless you didn't want us to sign TGH? You can't be seriously questioning the Weimann to West Brom and us getting TGH slightly cheaper deal. Think your grasping at straws here.
  6. I agree there are plenty of things to criticise JL for but this isn't one of those things. Would I, the club and most fans preferred a permanent or loan to buy for Twine.. Of course. If Burnley wouldn't budge on their 5 mil valuation which most fans agreed was too much then we've done the right thing. I think Twine had already set his mind on moving to us in some capacity. Playing in his preferred position, moving closer to home and working with a manager who got the best out of him. Burnley probably thought the same about him playing in his correct position and potentially getting better output. If he does that he'll either cost more to us or someone else or return back to them full of confidence. We've avoided Weimanns trigger for a contract extension, he gets to move closer to home 6 months earlier with a chance to garner a new contract which he wasn't getting here or playing time. We save the wages and get a favourable deal with TGH's transfer. All in all I don't think it's bad business at all. Could of been perfect with a permanent signing of Twine at our valuation but it's good were sticking to our guns.
  7. If that was the case surely we would of spent the £5 million.
  8. Not really FFP but funding and cash flow issues could be on the horizon for Blackburn. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24027004.date-set-venkys-application-release-funds-blackburn/ They have a few good players we could pinch if they run into problems. I think we've got to be more ruthless like Luton with Reading.. I wouldn't mind looking at Femi Azeez from Reading.
  9. To think he was only 275k. Very stable player.
  10. If he keeps scoring atleast we have some precedent examples we can use to bat away low ball offers from clubs in the summer.
  11. Dave any idea if he went under compensation at the end of his contract. How much that fee would be? Just looking at worst case scenario.
  12. He's played nearly every minute of every game this season and at full pace. Makes perfect sense to rest him for the league.
  13. You literally just say the same thing. However, you missed the bit where you usually say. They get personal blah blah..
  14. If Nige and Richard Gould brought him in he'd be happy as Larry. Because they didn't he's been playing his smallest violin.
  15. Whilst I was responding in my last post. I was considering that same thought.
  16. Who are these merry men defending LJ? What's he got to do with anything? Sounds all abit bizarre that. North Korea.. pfft I don't even know what to say. Yes, we may have lost three on the spin. However, when we won a few on spin you hardly say anything. There's plenty of games left.. plenty to play for. Where was I personal.. Because I said your always negative? Come off it. You've basically said so yourself. I In your words I've got to look back to the summer for some positive perspective from you.
  17. Think Murphy might rear his head down the line but not yet. The remainder of this season I'd imagine we'll see Williams as he's been good recently. With Twine I'm hoping he brings that spark we need.
  18. What does that even mean? These are independent thinking fans who have their own opinions. Usually the majority show some sort of balance to their views. You repeat the same opinion. Usually negative. I challenge anyone to look through your posts to find anything slightly positive. When challenged, you revert to the same old. Stop getting personal, I'm going to mute you then accuse others of silencing you. It's ironic to say the least.
  19. I wanted an option but give your head a wobble. We are 4 points away from the playoffs. It's unlikely but more possible with a new addition.
  20. Nixon: 3/5 Athletic: 13/20 O'Rourke: 3/4 Piercy: 9/10 Taking bets

  22. If no option to buy. I'm not sure it's worth it.. we'll see what happens.
  23. Great bit of business. I can see him getting better and better and he's done well so far. You can tell he's bought right into the club already.
  24. Manning basically just confirmed it was happening in the latest press conference but not fully completed so didn't want to comment further.
