  1. Last year we were near St Ives when the G7 thing was on and they had police from all over the country staying in make shift camps to help out, so can defo see resources being utilised. FYI we also saw the 48 bus from Downend there, apparently they had a shortage of buses to bus the police around so even got them in from other places!
  2. The joke about the red button I took as more of a joke about OTIB and posts on match day threads, the Queen was just sub context
  3. Apologies if already posted but although a great gesture by Man City, as discussed earlier in this thread, there is a bigger impact of the cancellations at a time when most people can I’ll afford the impact and clubs shouldn’t have to cough up on behalf of a decision by the EFL which didn’t have to happen. The EFL should compensate any club following suit
  4. How dare they be so sensible! Football on Saturday = Disrespectful , Rugby on Saturday = Respectful
  5. They’ve cancelled the games as a “mark of respect” not because they can’t guarantee security or anything like that so not sure it’s really relevant
  6. 100% correct, the decision by Prem and EFL is purely about saving face and playing safe in case they get some bad press. There will be hundreds of pubs and burger vans etc getting little or no revenue this weekend as a direct result of this decision, who may well have paid out for stock etc, but the EFL would rather “respect” the Queen who is no longer here than respect the individuals who run those businesses.
  7. I think it seems the correct decision really, today is the first day of mourning really, it’s all fresh etc etc but back to normal tomorrow. The EFL decision makes the RFU look wrong when I think they are being more sensible.
  8. I wonder if the Queen requested that when she dies, all of the BBC newsreaders have to talk in a slow somber voice all day and definitely need to look sad and can’t smile?
  9. Are Bristol Rugby who are now playing when we should have been playing, are they now deemed disrespectful? What a joke
  10. I guess the question then in why do the police forces in other areas think it’s ok for other clubs but A&S don’t for us? Do we have a completely unique set of circumstances which are non comparable or are A&S overzealous?
  11. If everything in the UK shuts down this weekend as a mark of respect then fair enough, but why does football need to stop for a weekend but The Mall stays open, or the cinema stays open, or the pubs stay open etc etc it makes no sense whatsoever.
  12. Is it advice I.e. the club could ignore it if they wanted, or do the police have the right to tell the club where they can put away fans and there is nothing we can do about it?
  13. Especially as we don’t give the away team the whole front of the stand anyway, even if they could sell it out, meaning always a few thousand seats empty. Better to give the away team just under the left half, one block is blocked off for segregation, then the other half for home fans. You could always shift the segregation block along (either way) depending on expected demand or if FA cup where you need to give more away seats.
  14. At times like these it’s worth remembering the difference between 1 million and 1 billion. A good example is using time: 1 million seconds = 12 days 1 billion seconds = 31 years SL is still a billionaire and has ‘years’ of £££ left (not that he can spend it with us on players due to FFP!). Not wanting to get too political but when you realise the COVID track and trace system (including app and testing etc) cost £37billion over just 2 years, it does make you think where all that £££ went (as a comparison the new Elizabeth line took 23 years to build and still cost £12billion LESS than the track and trace at £25billion!).
  15. I must admit I didn’t recognise him, only that he had an Irish accent, I then searched out which of their players was Irish, then saw the pic, same guy, easy
  16. Saw this thread on Gas Chat re: Trevor Clarke. I’ve been waiting for a thread before posting here, but TC and another Rovers player were hanging out at my gym a couple of weeks back, I was sat next to them, and could hear them discussing how TC could force a move out of the club. Not sure what’s gone on there, but nice to hear there is trouble t’mill!
  17. I think the improvements in sports science you could see a lot more players playing until their late 30’s if they stay serious injury free, you need to adapt your game potentially but possible if you have the desire to keep going
  18. Yeh no worries, thanks for the reply, seems a strange change in legislation really but there you go!
