A few games back I'd be swung in the direction of potentially getting rid, if someone with "pedigree" was willing to come in.

That said, I absolutely love the influx of youngsters into the team, especially local lads, and they are still fighting for him.

There's inconsistencies and shoddy defending, but he's certainly not lost the dressing room. We also played some pretty good football against Birmingham

    That’s the spirit ??!!

Blackburn should be a good game and another opportunity to play some good football too.. it’s either win or lose for that lot, no draws all season. They’re a young team who could easily be intimidated if our fans are up for it.. up at their place I reckon that was our best performance of the season so far. Remember Tommy’s diving header after Andi’s sprint and cross… great goal.

Was at the game last night so haven't read all these pages. Despite a brilliant dogged team display I thought Alex Scott was very disappointing. The game seemed to pass him by. Joe Williams was a massive upgrade on the night and was instrumental in us winning.

Hopefully young Alex has not had his head turned with all of the media transfer talk, tentative bids??

BTW. Fair play to you and the others who made the effort to get to the game.. bet it was a fantastic experience. And great to hear of a brilliant dogged team display.

I’d love to hear Rob Atkinson’s side of this, because he’s back playing very well (better?) since his return.

I guess we may never really know, but I reckon it all stems back to Swansea at home in the league when RA was selected to play but then pulled out an hour before kick off with ‘sickness’.. whether Nige was pissed off at the late notice / didn’t believe it / lost trust / suspected RA was just not up for it, who knows??
We do know though that Nige won’t mess about if a players loses his trust. Maybe Rob got the kick up the arse and the time to reflect that was needed? Also need to consider if Nige was just being an unjustified ***** on this or any other similar issue then that would have had a knock on effect and impacted the morale on the rest of the squad and ultimately their on field performances.. we’re not seeing any of that.

  4. Great result tonight away to Swansea for Nige (this is the NP thread) and with half a dozen academy products featuring. Shame we can’t all park our agendas and get behind him and the team and push on together..

There were more full-blooded 50:50s in this game than I’ve seen for ages.  Proper tackles, hard and fair.  Nice to see.

(lots of stupid tippy-tally fall over nothing tackles too)

I thought so too.. but only noticeable for me in the second half. I thought that Swansea bullied and intimidated us when we had the ball before half time, something I’m sure Nige hammered home during the break. We were so much more up for it after half time. We need to take this mindset into Saturdays game from the off.

No not on robins TV, but scheduled for international broadcast. There must be streams out there? Anybody have any?

It’s on Paramount Plus here in Australia.. I had to sign up for a 7 day free trial, but it’s good, every single tie available to watch. Even got to watch the highlights of the sags losing to Boreham Wood ?

At a push I know, but it would be rude not to include Boreham to JB’s list ?

@italian dave - Having watched City go up and down the 2nd/3rd tier a few times and the odd Windscreens shield success - in my 30 odd years of supporting City - the league cup run and specifically the win vs. Man Utd was  (sadly) a top 1 or 2 lifetime highlight. Probably the only time I’ve cried at a City match.

You can draw positives and negatives from most managers’ times here - but frankly if you’re a pathetic fan so blinded by hatred of the manager that you couldn’t enjoy that night, one of the best in our recent history, you’ve got to feel very sorry for them and ask, why bother?

Wow.. the only time you’ve cried at a City match.. I do it frequently albeit watching from afar, Birmingham away this season I was inconsolable for days.. ?

We do seem to give away particularly soft/bad goals at home. The Sheffield United winner was soft, and both Stoke goals were poor ones to concede. Defensive frailty has been a real issue for many seasons and a persistent frustration that really needs to be sorted if we are to ever achieve anything other than struggling in the league.

As you say, a real issue for many seasons not just Nige’s era.. When fans regularly leave in droves before the final whistle, and the ones who do remain boo the team off of the pitch perhaps we’re creating an environment for our own demise… it’s got to effect the players, especially young defenders.. massive pressure and feeling of self doubt / dread being heaped on them every time they’re lacing up their boots before a home game.

Your unwavering love for Pearson is slightly nauseating and bordering on the obsessive.

Seriously you are friggin boring.. out of interest when have you been happier supporting the City in the last 20 or 30 years… assuming that you’re that old? What previous manager should we be aspiring to?

Yes, I realise there aren’t exactly a busload of wealthy buyers at hand but the Lansdown family have engineered a slow and steady malaise of our club while making some boneheaded managerial appointments.

Yes, Pearson’s time is up - I don’t know what I expected from him but after two years at the helm it was certainly more than this rancid cheesewater - but why would you trust the morons at the head of our club who couldn’t organise their s*** into the pan to get it right next time? The whole rotten lot needs to go.

Short term there’s no outcome other than League One football. Unacceptable but sadly the reality.

    “Rancid cheesewater”… ????

Visited Bamaga on one occasion for business which is best described as different. Was a laugh though.

Merry Xmas BT.. living here in Port Douglas. I was also working down at Cairns… at the airport for about 8 years.

We’re on the same number of points as we were after this number of games last season, difference is that last season we were 7 points above the bottom 3 and 2 of the teams in the relegation zone were practically cut adrift.

It’s tight, no doubt.. although this season after the same number of games we’ve scored 6 more goals and conceded 2 less. Also interesting to see that Readibg have scored 6 less than us and conceded the same amount yet are 1 point off of the top 6.

to be on a par with last season after 30 games, we need to pick up 7 more points, score 9 more goals and concede another 22 in our next 8 matches.. hopefully we can better than that?

After the first round of games, we’ve had 16 matches and in 8 of those there’s been a penalty.
    That’s a staggering 50% of games.
It’s the equivalent of Bristol City getting 23 penalties in a season.
I reckon we’d struggle to have had 23 penalties in the last 20 years!!

More like the equivalent of 23 penalties being awarded against us in a season.. We’re not allowed to have any..

Not sure how true this is but apparently this is the England team
                        Pickford
    Trippier. Stones Maguire. Shaw
                 Rice. Bellingham
           Sterling. Mount. Saka
                          Kane

edit: apparently Saka over Foden but actually wondering if Foden plays central and not Mount

More than good enough for Iran, but Stones and Maguire look a dodgy combination to me.
