    This is your perception.

    Whether you believe in data or not from Wyscout.

    Our average xG this season is 1.340

    Under LM is is 1.345 that’s 0.005 better, a 1-in-200 chance better.

    Ah, but you may argue the chances are better, ie better quality.

    Based on “big chances” (xG greater than 0.200)

    Under LM we have had 8 big chances in 4 games (2 pg) - scoring 4 goals

    Pre-LM we had 31 big chances in 15 league games (2 pg) - scoring 16 goals

    ++++++++++

    I do keep saying that there are some differences in how we are playing but added together they are not having a material impact on the overall outcomes because some of the differences are + and some are -..

    One thing not factored in though is player availability. LM has not been forced to play young James at left back, or Andy King at CB and had 100% availability from TC up front for example. Although we still have a couple out, LM has definitely had a stronger, more consistent squad to pick from over his four games than what was available for Nige in the dozen or so preceding games.

    As discussed in another topic, at the q&a recently JL said they were looking for an investor who had expertise that would benefit Bristol Sport and that the Lansdowns aren't going to "walk away" so some of the discussion on here appears to be wide of the mark.

    Well if JL said so…

    Any new investor who would truly benefit Bristol Sport needs to be a majority shareholder or it’ll just be more of the same.

    I am not suggesting a takeover just a mega-rich investor with an interest in football to help share the financial  burden.

    So for £60m you can buy WBA, or for the same investment take a 30% share in BS and sit back and share the pain with JL.. sounds compelling..

    If you look at our 5 game points tally over a period of time, 6 or 7 points is more likely.  But you add “strength of schedule”, opponent form, etc for more context.

    Norwich City (h) 14th (-2 points on us) 6 points from last 5 games

    Huddersfield Town (a) 21st (-6 points on us) 5 points from last 5 games

    Blackburn Rovers (a) 7th (+3 points on us) 9 points from last 5 games

    Sunderland (h) 11th (+1 point on us) 7 points from last 5 games

    Hull City (h) 6th (+5 points on us) 10 points from last 5 games

    ~~~~~~~
    Bristol City 7 points from last 5 games
    You’ll notice I didn’t comment on the pod…one game at a time mantra for me.
    FWIW - if we did get 8 points I’d see that as above par.  None of our opponents are on a bad run either.
    We are likely to be running with the same 14 outfield players for most of this period too, unless Naismith is ok, or Nahki back towards the end of this group of fixtures.
    A win on Sunday would be a big boost to commence the run.  Keeping Ashton Gate unbeaten over this period would be nice too.
    Of the 5 games, none of the home games on paper are as tough as Boro… neither of the away games will be as tough as Southampton, where we were unlucky not to get at least a point.. So we should be optimistic, we were also the better side in the draw with Hull earlier this season.. 11 points 👌
    I don’t believe there is anyone in the current Academy that is likely to breakthrough in the next 12 months (2 windows) like Alex did for us.  Alex instantly made an impact and was influencing games pretty much from the start of his first team career.
    Therefore we will have to buy in players.
    Agree with comments on the current academy list and at the moment Liam would rather go with seven on the bench rather than give false hope for a couple of them to even gain first team match-day experience.
    If JL really thinks that we’re that close then maybe two or three quality loan additions in January should be enough to supplement this squad and finish the job?
    In realty though, we’ll likely be pestering Oxford for one or two of their favourites with fingers crossed that they turn out to be immediate Mark Sykes type successes in the Championship as opposed to Kane Wilson type failures….
  6. Not willing to take that bet but, on Friday Rotherham drew with Leeds, on Tuesday QPR put 4 past Stoke and last night Weds drew with Leicester. A week ago Huddersfield would have also likely been a candidate but they drew with Southampton on Sat and won away to Sunderland last night. The Championship is mental and a mini run can make a massive difference for any team.
    Updated, we need a drunk keeper, smashed full backs, a zig-zagging right wing and a manager.
    Now apparently opened talks with Matt Taylor, which shows that it’s been 4 weeks and they don’t want to appoint anyone that they’ve spoken to so far. Tinpot as ****
    Or.. anyone that they’ve spoken to on closer inspection don’t want a bar of it because they’re as tinpot as ***.
    What would also be good is naming the South Stand the “Alan Dicks East End” whilst the great man is still with us.
    Bless you AD, 4 years of top flight football, signing Hunter, Cormack & Garland, watching Gow, Merrick, Ritchie, Collier, Tainton & the Sween, victories over almost all of England’s top sides, (still incredible that in one of those seasons we relegated Spurs) & I was there.
    Just the best.
    Plus Clive Whitehead and Jimmy Mann.. great days.
    I was also there when we sent Tottenham down, pretty scary getting back to  our car after the game.. they came down in numbers, were in the East End at KO (not for too long after) and were none too pleased after the game about being relegated. Also remember the next season after being gutted to lose at home to Arsenal to hear… Tottenham 9 Bristol Rovers 0 😄
