Surely there must be a video of her leaning out of the car window shouting at the Ipswich mob - "let's be avin you" :)

Sunderland forum had a quick browse of a thread critiquing their caretaker manager- some reckon we are an awful side. Wouldn't agree but we rode our luck a tad but we did perhaps merit a couple more points from previous games.

I had a read of their forum on the journey home and was a little surprised at how negative they generally were about their performance. I came away thinking they were good and a level above us.

We played there in 2008 I think on boxing day and dont think we were close to selling out then either. Can't find what we took there but the highlights definitely had empty seats at the front.

I went to that one as I remember driving there - I rarely drive to games so it sticks in the memory.

Watford would normally be one of my "local" games that I would put in the calendar but being Boxing Day with no public transport then I'm not sure. If it's POTD, and family commitments permitting, I could be tempted.

Southampton always reminds me of Coventry - bland.

Having lived in both places I get what you mean although Southampton wins out due to the amount of green space in the city. The problem I had with Southampton was not necessarily the place itself, but that every time I came back to Bristol I realised how much I missed Bristol.

I was hoping this fixture would be on a Saturday and not mid week as I have not been back in a very long time and would be interested in seeing what it's like now. The last time I saw a match there was at the Dell.

Anyhow here's hoping we can get a result tonight.

Best pie i had was at Notts County, msny years ago though.

For me that award goes to Brighton at the Amex stadium. On my first visit a few years back there were long queues at the railway station after the game so I took my young daughter into the supporters club. No problem getting in and there was a choice of locally produced pies. Sat down with a pie and a pint watched Sky and eventually got a later train.

  6. I only get to one or two games at AG per season but always get a Clarks pie from the van.  Why?  Well it's a reminiscence thing - nights out as a youth, teas with my parents etc. My family (who have no affiliation with all things Bedminster) don't understand but I always send a photo of a Clarks pie on the park wall whenever I get one. One day I might get them to understand

One of my other favourites is Leyton Orient.  If I recall correctly, one side of the ground is a set of flats that directly overlook the pitch. I always wondered if those flats were cheaper or more expensive given they were looking at the Orient...

I remember from our last visit there that the flats are in the corners of the ground and have balconies that look out over the pitch. You could almost see what they were cooking!

Quoted £513 for my multi motorbike policy which was £150 more than last year. Knew it was coming so went on the insurers website prior to receiving the quote and put my details in as a new customer and was quoted £273 and got a quote reference number.

I have done that before but had a more positive response along the lines of " as an existing customer you should not be able to do that, but as we have provided you a quote we have to honour it". I therefore did it again the following year 😀

This is great news. Thank you for posting (I don't do ****er).

But what on earth is that machine he's strapped into????

Also - if I've read it right - Proctor used to be at Oxford United!

He's morphed into Davros - which will prove a problem jumping for headers

  10. Did Nuremburg some years ago but that does not open until the beginning of December. Large selection of stalls and excellent bratwurst and gluhwien to keep you warm.

Not probably the prettiest square where it's held due to the post war buildings but the city still has a lot of characterful areas.

In order that he could sign for South Park did they have to kill Kenny.

I live in the same South Park - have not been down to see a game in a long time. I see wiki says he's only played one game since 2020 so not a regular.

The local primary school changed it's name from South Park years ago due to the nature of the cartoon series!!

Surely about time we on the terraces were physically heard with our support for big Nige? Doesn't have to be original or witty... But a loud, repetitive chorus of support week in/out is hard to be ignored.

I was thinking the same. If at every game there was vocal support for NP the message should get across.

The devil in me also thinks there should be a similar amount of vocal comment on what does JL actually do.

I went to the Mowgli in Cardiff before watching the excellent Coldplay ?

Amazing food and it’s simply a must.

Stayed over in Leicester after the game last week and went to Mowgli's. The food is not your usual Indian fare and the dishes are smaller, which is good in my view as you can order a greater selection of interesting dishes. All was good, tasty and reasonably priced. It was though quite a "fast food" type establishment with all our dishes being delivered within a matter of minutes and lingering not encouraged.  If you want to take time I'd suggest ordering in stages.

He was the only one who stood to gain from their 'disappearance'. They were under his guardianship in the secure Tower of London guarded by his men. As I have previously stated I cannot totally blame him as had the Woodvilles gained the ascendancy (the family of the wife of Edward IV and obviously mother of Edward V) then he could easily have become yesterday's gravy.

One of the reasons Henry Tudor was able to defeat Richard III at Bosworth was because of the enmity against Richard for usurping the throne two years earlier and killing the legitimate young King Edward V and his younger brother in the process.

Since those days the Ricardian Society have striven hard to clear his name in a misguided romantic fashion of rewriting history. Even telling us that the popular image of Richard III having a deformity that in mediaeval parlance was called being a hunchback or crookback was simply a Tudor construct and he was nothing of the kind. Of course when his body was located it was discovered that he indeed had that deformity.

I'm no Ricardian but just interested in the history. The battle of Bosworth hung on William Staley's intervention and could have gone either way, history's view might have been very different if Stanley had sided with Richard.  I believe a lot of the Richard III enmity is possibly down to Shakespeare.

    Caveat - I'm no historian :)

Keep in mind if one does decide to visit his burial site that he was effectively a double child murderer.

I understand that his position might have been in jeopardy had he allowed his 12 year old nephew, Edward V, and his younger brother Richard to live, but he was at the moment of their disappearance their guardian and they were killed on his watch undoubtedly on his orders so he could usurp the throne.

Whether he was guilty of this is not proven. A good easy read is provided in a modern day (well the 1950's) assessment of the evidence in "The daughter of time". It's quite a short book so not too taxing. More info here -   The Daughter of Time - Wikipedia

Whilst I have been underwhelmed by Pearson performance and entertainment wise since his appointment, what is without doubt is his professionalism, he seems to be the face of Bristol City at the moment, appears to have minimal backing, and is fronting our club pretty much single handidly.

I remember the first few years of back in the championship and in particular the season we beat Man Utd, and Steve and Jon Lansdown made regular appearances on Sky sports and local news and seemed to enjoy the limelight they were getting.

They appear to have left Pearson to front it out on his own which is very poor form.

Well said - let alone SL's general absence, what words of wisdom have we heard from JL since last seasons "we should be doing better" comment?
