Me and Mrs RR are staying over to visit the museum (she refuses to go to the game though!) - unfortunately the cathedral is currently closed so you cannot visit the tomb of the car park king. Having been to Bosworth a few times (I used to live in Coventry) I am quite interested in this.

No he won't. The person who will commentate on our premier league games is an unknown entity currently at primary school

Whilst I have been underwhelmed by Pearson performance and entertainment wise since his appointment, what is without doubt is his professionalism, he seems to be the face of Bristol City at the moment, appears to have minimal backing, and is fronting our club pretty much single handidly.
I remember the first few years of back in the championship and in particular the season we beat Man Utd, and Steve and Jon Lansdown made regular appearances on Sky sports and local news and seemed to enjoy the limelight they were getting.
They appear to have left Pearson to front it out on his own which is very poor form.
Well said - let alone SL's general absence, what words of wisdom have we heard from JL since last seasons "we should be doing better" comment?

Recently had to renew my car insurance and the initial auto renewal was 25% higher than last year - I thought that was high but soon realised that increases are across the board this year. Unfortunately though I had to inform them a a minor transgression (3points for speed camera) and they whopped it up by 70%. Despite saying that I would look elsewhere they were not interested in discussing a reduction. So I went elsewhere and got it back down to the 25% increase.
House insurance comes in next month and not sure what to expect from that now.

I see these are now collection only. I live in London so this isn't an option. Has anyone had any luck before buying some tickets and then picking them up from a supporters coach or drop off point near to the ground if I phone the ticket office?
Hi. I have picked up tickets at away games a few times (even Millwall before) with no problem. Just need to hang around if the coach is later than expected.

He is a good mate of mine and as you say he is a sound bloke- though don't ever tell him I said that- He isn't one to spout shite, but I think he is really just passing info on that he has heard.
You mean Dr F is not the same person as his avatar. Now that's a shame!!

Southern Trains website is saying that there is an ASLEF ban on non contractual overtime from Monday 7th - Saturday 12th. This is not a strike merely drivers refusing to do overtime.
As long as Southern Trains employ enough drivers for the work required then there will be no issues.
If services are suspended 2 hours before and 2 hours after any local football matches then this will be a decision made by Southern Trains.
I use Southern Rail most days and an OT ban means a much reduced service with some stations (e.g. mine!) having no service at all. I can therefore believe this - particularly as it's a weekend.
I'm waiting on the revised timetable to find out how I can get to and from London first before worrying about getting to South Bermondsey!!
-
A few seasons ago (2018?) there were also no trains to and from South Bermondsey/London Bridge stations as South Bermondsey was closed for maintenance works in the area. I walked from Canada Water tube station - think it took about half an hour.

I used to occasionally go to Philomena's when city were on Sky and always had a good night and met a number of London based fans. Then covid came along and that stopped. I'm no longer sure if this is still "a thing" would like to know if it is.

Toffs still selling them, I've had this one for over 10 years, stylish, brilliant quality and will never go out of date.

I have the 1974/74 long sleeved shirt which is similarly about 10 years old and still in good condition. However I wish I had bought the short sleeved one as it could be worn more during summer. You might just have convinced me to maybe get one!
I have looked at the 1976-78 shirts before but the picture makes it look a bit shiny which they were not.

I watched the series and was "gobsmacked" at this. Living close to it I would have passed it many times during this period. Also the Barclays bank on Lombard Street in which the money was laundered was staggering. It lead to a lot of comments from the family about my background !!!!
Did you also watch the follow up factual programme - BBC iPlayer - The Gold: The Inside Story

Most definitely for me as I have been unable to make my usual south east matches this season so Watford and QPR high on my list.

Last of the 47 staples removed today so back in full training.
You really need to be more careful around office stationery.
Good to hear you'll soon be up and running again.

Steve Coppell being the man who takes us to the PL.
Yep....I said to Mrs RR he'll take us to the PL in two seasons. Went away on holiday and by the time I was back he had disappeared.

Watching game back now, about 65 in.
Could Foden have got more than a yellow doe the challenge on Sykes?? Or is that greed and optimism bias? Definite penalty on 10 mins though and without doubt Bell on edge of the box a free kick.
Atmosphere was as I remembered
Same here just finished it. I won't tell you the final score!
Can't help but feel that with VAR it's a penalty.
Funny how it seemed different to me watching it back. We were much more in it than I remembered (think that might be nerves on the night) and the atmosphere was better than I thought at the time. Recently when I have been going to AG I have been sitting high up mid Dolman but I'm beginning to think that's not a good place to appreciate the atmosphere.
I thought they gave us a lot of coverage and for ITV it was ok.

Providing the team gives it a go and we back them noisily throughout I'll be happy. Mind, I have been bigging up Ashton Gate at work and mentioning that the match is on ITV so I have another reason to hope that the club gives a good impression!
Will be leaving home early afternoon so will be peckish before the game - is the goat curry still available (I couldn't find it on my last visit).

Im looking at them, the seats show as available but then it says there are none available for this event?
I was getting that issue initially so logged out and back in and all was good. I was thinking (for me) it might have been related to the fact I had not logged out since buying a Norwich ticket on Friday.

Made me laugh, in an ironic sad way...Betty Glover reporting on the Fulham game on BBC, looking at the clock and can't grasp the time straight away
Seems to be a very common theme with the younger generation. Can't read a clock.
Do they not teach this in schools anymore?
I had this problem when teaching kids in Canada...didn't think it would become common here
I saw that and laughed but I did like the enthusiasm she had for the game and her self deprecation.

Brilliant result - final score calling it emphatic.

Why ?
6 minutes ago, Harry said:I don’t understand.
What is this supposed to mean? Do teams get an extra point for racking up 10 white cards? Do players with the most white cards get the fines money from the other players yellows and reds? Does the team with the most white cards get a spot in European competition?
Or is it just a completely pointless thing?I don't get it either. It just seems an idealistic approach to highlight good deeds without any obvious benefit to those players/teams that make an effort to be fair.
why do we go football and do nothing else?

Whether he was guilty of this is not proven. A good easy read is provided in a modern day (well the 1950's) assessment of the evidence in "The daughter of time". It's quite a short book so not too taxing. More info here - The Daughter of Time - Wikipedia
