I've got a theory though that the longer you hold onto a shirt the cooler it gets. So as an adult if you buy every new home shirt, put it away for 5-10 years, then when the time is right, unwrap it and go to games looking retro and trendy.

The strange thing would be though that still being as bought they would have "shrunk" in that period.

Ipswich away, the season we made the play off final , that match with Hull.

Wife moaned I was driving too much and I should go by train. Train to London broke down, and the train to Ipswich stopped at every single station on the way. Arrived too late for the pub, missed the first 10 minutes of the game, and we lost 6-0.

Train back was just as slow.

Last time I listened to the Mrs.

Ha ha...I had a ticket for that but didn't go as was suffering from "man flu"  - so glad when I saw the result.

Definite penalty in the game as it is played today. I'm not saying its wrong but it is inducative of how the game has changed from the 70/80s when a high foot would have seen the award of an indirect free kick, something that seems to have gone from the game entirely.

Call me old fashioned but there was no goal scoring opportunity in the offing - the ball was moving away from the penalty area but then it's 1-0. Just seems disproportionate punishment to me.

One for my generation - my strange initial thought (don't ask me why) was Adam & the Ants and looking at the lyrics it seems particularly apt. Just a pity that nappies are not included

Don't you ever, don't you ever
Stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome

    Prince Charming
    Prince Charming
Ridicule is nothing to be scared of
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Lower yourself, forgetting all your standards

Yep cheers just finally worked that out. When I first saw the title I thought it was a spelling mistake ?

When I first saw it I thought it was about Ashton Court so I was way off the mark ?

  6. @Ska Junkie thanks for starting this. I am in a similar position (and I suspect age) and had been thinking of starting a thread but like many things never got around to it!

Thanks to others also for the good advice. I'm thinking of reducing days next year to see what I do with the spare time (particularly in winter) with the aim of finishing the year after. If I find I am at a loose end too much I will consider carrying on at reduced days for a few more years.

One query on the following comment:

It’s often worth taking the 25% lump sum. Even if you think of it as part of your retirement pot, you can invest it back into similar funds in things like ISAs, where you’ll then be able to take money out tax-free, whereas you’d have to pay Income Tax to take it out of your drawdown. And if you don’t take the lump sum when you move a pension fund into drawdown, you can’t do so later.

I thought that if you did not take the 25% as an initial lump sum then you instead got 25% tax free allowance on the subsequent annual amounts taken from a drawdown ?

I'd be surprised if anyone had heard of him and it's no surprise he looks happy, judging by his career so far joining the Gas is genuinely a step up for him.

Started his youth career at Barnard Castle, cue jokes about needing his eyesight tested. :)

    So many loans.

Didn't Bishop Auckland win the first world cup - I seem to remember a film about it.

  8. When I young it would always be Clarks pie and chips. Crack the lid off the pie and dip the chips in the gravy. However my more recent experience of Clarks pies suggests the meat:gravy ratio has changed over the years to a drier product and such post piss up chip dipping would no longer be possible.
