I don't remember that semi-circular concrete area in the park behind the open end? (bottom left of the pic)
The concrete semi circular area was where the kids play area was. It had the swings, roundabout, climbing frame & slider. Solid concrete floor no soft rubberised floor in those days!

Radio 5 called this a relegation battle

Around the house we also had these radio receivers on which you could listen to the radio and the sound from which ever TV channel you had on. These even worked throughout the Power blackouts of the 1970's, so I discovered that for some shows like Dads Army or Steptoe and Son for example, you didn't really need pictures a lot of the time. My dad apparently paid a little extra for the radios, but one year when he went to renew his subscription, the staff said they didn't know there were any still in operation and had stopped charging for them years before, so they gave him a few quid back. They were quite handy if you wanted to nip out and make a drink during a BBC TV programme, as you could still follow it.
Wow.... this takes me back. We had Rediffusion and had a few of those radio sets. I have a particular vivid memory of one of those sat on a high shelf in the kitchen and listening to the Apollo 8 message on Christmas day in 1968 whilst eating a cooked breakfast. Funny the things you remember.....and those you don't.

Some things are hard to explain because looking back they made no sense anyway. Circular dials on phones, which took an age to dial a number, and why, given that, was the emergency number 999 not 111?
Try this link for an explanation BBC - Why 999 for an emergency?

He will have thought they were through- as in they would win here and presumably that South Korea v Portugal wouldn't have South Korea winning...went too soon.
Shades of 1970 Q4 England v West Germany - give Booby Charlton a rest for the semi final.

I'll stand patiently in the queue after MarcusX and BS3rich if any are going spare. I'm not Bristol based but could meet up at Reading.

Wasn’t there something a few years back where Reading said they would never give us the whole end again? I think it was the 0 - 2 win in the GJ Championship season and we had the whole stand, well over 5k and made a hell of a racket!
Yes that was the first game I took my daughter to and she had rather a high expectation thereafter! I remember driving home listening to the local radio phone in and their fans were livid about how many of us there were.
As I am only a member I don't have a ticket so add me to the list of potential buyer of any available tickets
-
Yet again members get only a four hour priority window during the middle of the day. Useless for me.
-
I bought a ticket on the weekend but do think the priority windows were too short, one day for ST holders and only four hours for members (that's me) - which I missed.
Apart from checking the website on a regular basis is there any way of knowing when away tickets come up for sale?
-
I'm not sure about parking arrangements near stations but now that the Elizabeth line is open from Reading does that open other alternatives (Maidenhead, Taplow, Slough)?

I’ve got a funny feeling about this one… Something unusual is going to happen.
Possibly too unlikely - but we get awarded a penalty.

I hit the 6-0 early next year and am planning on using a rail card to make travelling to Bristol for more home games more affordable. If I change my working commute hours slightly I can also use it to reduce those costs.
DIdn't know about the Tesco clubcard points so thanks.

Geeze too many bus photos not enough bins!
If you look carefully there is a bin in the background of the coach photos. It's possible NTTDS is playing games with us

Really good to see these comments - hopefully it will provide confidence. Onwards and upwards

Have you thought about orienteering? There are a number of permanent courses around Bristol at Ashton Court, Leigh Woods and Blaise Castle to give it a go. You just need to buy the course maps first. Used to do a few around where I live with the kids when they were younger - it got quite competitive!

I remember saying to someone at half time at the Etihad, somewhat tongue in cheek, enjoy it as this is "peak" city . I didn't really think I'd be so prescient with my ramblings. It really does bring home how infrequent these moments are for us
