Interesting thread as I quite like cooking. Had not thought about a slow cooker before but am beginning to wonder. Have frequently thought about buying a bread maker but suspect it would just be a big kitchen item quickly resigned to the cupboard.
To downsize things a bit one of the most satisfying gadgets I have is a mezzaluna - very therapeutic.

If someone had offered me a chance to work and live in Oz at the age of 26 I'd have grabbed it with both ears.

Sounds a really positive performance - generally. Didn't Pearson say after the Luton game that we can't keep needing 3 goals to win a game.

Common sense would suggest (to me at least) that you have no liability as the venue and it's upkeep is not your responsibility. Could you possibly draft a disclaimer statement and get competitors at each match to sign?
However the law and common sense do not always go together.

Hi - I know from previous posts that you are an angler. If you are talking about match fishing competitions have you seen the link on Maggotdrowners about match insurance:
Angling Insurance for Clubs - Mead Sports and Leisure Insurance (sportsinsurancemead.com)
Of course this could be something completely different in which case

Last week at Fulham there was someone near me who wanted me to pass him empty bottles from the floor so he could throw them at Fulham fans.

As both Ole didn't mention it, and the Sky highlights didn't show it, I guess our penalty shout was a little optimistic? At the time I was thinking how quickly a game turns from possibly being 3-3 to instead 4-2. Clutching at straws I suppose.

For whatever reason we are a bogey side for them at home, so who knows?
I think it was picked today and flicked back at us

Doesn't the title kinda give it away somewhat?
Ha. ha....yes but it's a fictional thriller related to the gunpowder plot and a catholic group set in Bristol. The tsunami bit is not a hidden surprise!

Interesting comments on this thread. I am at the other end of the age scale and thinking about retirement and a possible move back to "the homeland".
However the house prices in Bristol are high and despite living in Surrey it does not look like there would be any "spare change" in a move. I am also aware of the traffic and public transport problems which are really putting me off. Have thought about other locations on a train line into Bristol.

Wish I'd watched this.
I had a book for Christmas called the drowned city which is based in Bristol during the tsunami. I have not yet read it so no spoilers.

On the flip side, I noticed that Millwall were the only away fans that boo'd our taking of the knee, while none of their players joined in with the gesture. No, problem at all with clubs not doing it anymore, but to boo ? Horrible club.
It was the same at the Den earlier in the season.
Afobe was also class at that match and acknowledged the city fans during the macth.

Hey everyone ... just wanted to say I hope you all have the best of luck in 2022 - it’s fair to say that this OTIB online community is pretty special ... it sparks debate, confrontation, passion, realisation, disbelief, disagreement, agreement and so many other reactions and emotions ... I really like the different characters on here and the many and varied interactions - this is by far one of the best forums ... thanks for all the debates during another very difficult year - and I’ll leave you with this ditty - I’ve been championing it on here for a few years now - we need to adopt it as one of our own right now - all the best everybody ...
Keep the campaign going into 2022!

I believe from an Ipswich buddy the message from Ashton was very clear that they don't 'need' to go up this season. You've got to question that now Cook has gone.
Just like 2017/18 when he said we were not "planning on promotion" that season - which then lead to players leaving

I grew up in Knowle West & Bedminster so I remember the old school Bristolian lingo fondly. ‘ Cassant th’e understand I ‘ and phrases like that seem to have disappeared. Although my mum still pronounces words that end in ty as tay. Twen-tay Thir-tay For-tay
My grandad used to use that and I remember even as a boy struggling to understand some of what he said.
Strangely this came up today at work when a Scottish colleague was asking me about Bristolian and dialect words. Unfortunately having left Bristol at 18 my once strong south Bristol accent has faded and reliant on alcohol to bring it to the fore
Any good you tube links as I was thinking of sending some to her.

Must admit that the drone shot with the sun setting over Ashton Court gave me a few pangs of home sickness.

Just watched the 'highlights'. The players are so powder puff and uninterested its criminal. They have no heart, no passion and no desire. I find it hard to believe that as a collective they can be so weak. The third Cov goal was ineptitude on a different level. I cant help but think some of this is deliberate on the part of the players - I really am getting to that stage of believing this is purposeful.
That thought crossed my mind that last season but there were other reasons as so many were going to be out of contract. If that is the case this season the we really are doomed.
The lack of crowds and toxic atmospheres last season meant they had it easier, hopefully they won't get such an easy ride this time around.

It hurts less and less every week?
I'm not sure it does but I'm not sure how I feel either. Every capitulation just seems to bring out a feeling of despair at the mess we seem to be in. What with last season's abject performance's it just seems to be never ending.
As others have said I'm not sure I have much enthusiasm to spend time and money watching them at the moment. It's a sad state as post covid lockdown I was really excited for the season and getting back to watching them.

On the bright side, we all enjoyed league 1 last time round
Agreed but that didn't start well and I fear we wouldn't quite enjoy it so much if it happens.
