  1. As far as I'm aware, there's a salary cap which means top flight sides can spend 40% of their turnover on wages. That turnover is for the whole club though, so it would still be a huge amount for the WSL were we to do that. The big issue is with the lack of revenue the womens game makes, spending huge money on wages etc would lead to big losses, which isn’t sustainable in the long term
  2. I presume this is an attempt at providing some match day entertainment after 90 minutes of Manningball has sent everyone to sleep?
  3. A much deserved positive note in what has been a difficult season. Well done to all involved. Heres a video explaining the work the project does: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/video/features/foundation-project-saving-lives/
  4. Of course there isn't. The issue is, you are very quick to jump on a negative bandwagon, but you become invisible when we are playing well. It's all quite interesting
  5. If you want us to play well all the time why are you never visible, saying anything positive, during a good performance? And yet, when we are crap, like today, you’re commenting regularly, highlighting how poor it is. I’m intrigued
  6. So you’re a Bristol City fan who wants us to do well when we aren’t playing well, but you aren’t bothered when we’re winning? Got it
  7. Weird, not one comment during the Blackburn match about anything. Yet 7 negative ones about todays game. I wonder why…
  8. If I remember correctly, it was a case of a comparitively low starter fee with lots of add ons
  9. We've scored more goals in our last 100 minutes than they have in their last 950...
  10. 4 games to go and every side in the top half can still go up mathematically, while every side in the bottom half can still go down. Such a crazy league
  11. 09/10 version of Maynard. One of the most complete forwards I can remember at this level. He'd bring us 20+ goals which would be crucial
  12. 7.4k at home? There wasn't a bike race on was there?
  13. Not doubting he’s done a decent job, and clearly has ability as a coach. If we sacked Manning this afternoon, how would I feel if we appointed Rohl tomorrow though? He hasn’t done enough in management yet for me to be certain he’d be an improvement on what we currently have
  14. His background is in assistant management and coaching, we’ve been down the route of bringing in good coaches and assistants many times before, when was the last time it worked? If he keeps Wednesday up then he’s done a good job, but that hardly makes him the best candidate out there. I’ll be honest, he wouldn’t even be on my list never mind at the top of it. Right now we don’t need another brith young thing, since I’ve been supporting this football club employing ‘bright young coaches’ has been far less successful than experienced managers, I see no reason why he would be any different. Not sure what he could do with our squad, being ‘likeable’ and calling a fan base ‘premier league quality’ sounds more like LJ jargon than actual ability at managing a side. Perhaps he’ll turn out to be the next Klopp, but if we sacked Manning there is no chance we should be going for someone so inexperienced in the professional game, it would be utterly pointless. I have no narrative at all, my point is that in his few months of management he’s hardly set the world alight, if we do bring in a new manager as a fanbase surely we want someone with experience of managing? Not somebody with 12 wins in his managerial career?
  15. What about him would make him top of your list? 5 months of managerial experience with a worse record than Manning, what about his time so far at Sheffield Wednesday makes you think he’d take us forward?
  16. There’s a huge jump between being competent at running an academy and being competent at running a football club. Tinnion has shown how large that jump is
  17. You can count them yourself if you want!
  18. Another huge following from promotion chasing Bristol Rovers!
  19. Success is relative though. In 2007, heading in to the championship, success would have been viewed as a mid table finish. Nobody (including yourself I'm sure) went into that season thinking it would only be a success if we went up again. It was the most successful season we've had since the very early 80s, maybe it didn't lead to anything but that's not exactly the point. Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Let's hope you can see a successful season next year and we end up top!
  20. It's not though is it? Would you rather we finished 15th this season or 4th but lost in the play offs? The answer is pretty obvious. You said yourself, 'losing is not success', therefore if Luton do stay up, considering they've lost more than they've won (while not winning any competition) this season hasn't been a success in your book?
  21. Not sure how you can come to that conclusion. When he left he had us closer to 8th than relegation, things weren't as rosy as they were a few years earlier, but we weren't looking down the barrel of relegation by that stage. Regardless of whatever happened by the end of his tenure, he's the best manager the clubs had since Alan Dicks, his success up until 2009 highlights that
  22. So the only successful managers are the ones who win the Premier League (or respective first divisions) then? Would you say Rob Edwards has been a success at Luton?
  23. A team that was going down? When he was sacked we were 15th and 7 points clear of relegation with 9 games left. Our form wasn't great, but there was little chance of relegation. In fact, if all you can say about his tenure here is that he was taking us to league one, that speaks volumes. As for getting us promoted being 'granted', that's clearly rubbish. We'd spent the last 7 seasons in league one and had finished 9th the season before. Perhaps we were one of the favourites, but league one at that stage was known for having very few stand out sides. There was nothing granted whatsoever about us getting promotion, and nobody expected what followed the season after
  24. A positive thing being done with the kit in the next match, hopefully something everyone can get behind!
