  1. Not really a rumour but a player from Connacht (where Pat Lam came from) called Bundee Aki has been granted Irish residency and so can play for the national side even if he leaves the country. In December, upon the breaking news of pat lam coming to Bristol Aki said on twitter that he was 'pissed', maybe he could be on his way here?

Yeah they shouldn't bring them in for the sake of it but there are good players in Ireland who don't get much gametime. Some go to England or France anyway. If LI had an understanding with the IRFU then they could potentially benefit from bringing some of those guys in and giving them games. If the IRFU wanted them back in the Irish system then LI would probably lose them but provinces would maybe be happier to leave players go to improve in the Premiership in future. In theory everybody wins.

That's true tbf, I was looking at Leinsters team for their game this weekend and when you look at the quality of some of the players not taking part LI could get some real gems there, even players like Cian Healy would do well in the premiership and he doesn't get much game time anymore for Leinster

Good points. Surprised they didn't market themselves as Exiles more before relegation though. Plenty of talented young guys scratch around the Provinces playing a handful of matches a season till mid-20s. Sure they could have got more over with carrot of first team action.

It's a shame really, you'd think that they would try and have more than 4 Irish players at London Irish really but it's a result based business and when you have a fijian for instance who is of better quality than an irishman it's obvious who you would pick, still think they should look down the irish route in the premiership though

I can't get my head around what's going on at Irish. I thought they were taken over in 2013 by folks who said they wanted to invest and try to get an Irish core back into the club. Looking at their squad it doesn't seem that they've spent a bucketload - though they do have Ben Franks - and they've only four Irish players.

The problem for Irish is that they are a big club playing in a division they shouldn't be in so they are going to struggle to get top Irish players of the quality they need to come to them.

I guess unlike Bristol they haven't spent millions to get out of the championship and are doing it a more financially stable way but that could backfire as it did with bristol last season

Interesting how Bristol are continuing with signing all these top quality players, whilst London Irish haven't made one signing yet

Irish still can't guarantee premiership rugby next season yet which is what Bristol struggled with last year, whereas Bristol can guarantee more money, a better coach and premiership rugby in 2 years time and i guess Bristol are probably still a more attractive club even in the championship tbf

    wasn't bad was it

good strike for the third and the "farmy army" made me laugh

Honestly seen them play much better than today, but a 4-1 is nothing to be sniffed at. On Tuesday they have a semi final game in the Gloucester Cup, their opponents have scored 21 times in their 2 games before today (apparently!) so that could be a defensive test for them

If what I have seen is right, 5 points will guarantee them the title, if the other top teams drop points in their games in hand then one more win will do it.

I try and get down a bit so it's good to see them doing well.

It was funny the one guy standing by us trying to start off chants about every single one of the players, seemed like a right character haha.

I might try and go down on Tuesday, should be a decent game, then theres last game of the season which is on the same day as Brighton I think which is a shame.

If they go up it will be the highest they've ever been which is a great achievement and they'll be up against the likes of Taunton and Yate which will be great for them

    1) You said our attendance was lower than Millwall's. I've quoted you a stat from one of the major sport websites in the world that said it isn't. You quoted the Daily Express.  Dear me.

    2) You raised the issue of the capacity of our stadium. I pointed out that we are 3rd in our league in terms of filling it.

    Keep trying.

You are 3rd in the league behind the mighty AFC Wimbledon and Northampton, don't quite see how that is an achievement....

Very good move for him to get a two year contract at his age. With Madigan, Searle and Pisi contracted for next season it's not surprising that Henson is off. Anyone know if Geraghty is on a short-term contract?

Geraghty was just till the end of the season, i can see pisi leaving as well don't think he's lams type of player, that would leave madigan searle and sheedy as our 10s which isn't too bad....

    A back line of:

    R.Williams

    Madigan

    Varndell

    Piatau

    Hurrel

    Morahan

    Woodward

Will look half decent at home to Ealing Trailfinders....

    That is complete bollox!

You keep telling yourself that and living a pipe dream that we will always be in your shadow, when we are now a far better run club then you are.

Wally as you call him has made no random predictions that we will be in the premiership within X amount of time or, like your manager saying you could be playing in European football within 5 years.Or saying he will spend millions on £9million strikers...Unlike your owner he just gets on with his job without making himself look like damm tool..!

"The Wally" has done more to the infrastructure of our club in his first year then pantysdown did for your club within his first decade, regardless of money the latter spent!  The Ashton gate rebuild has only happened in the last year and is his only legacy.

As for Taylor being the reason where we are hahahaha... He was important to us,but was far from being the reason why we are where we are!

Nine unbeaten since he has left and scoring goals after DC making adjustments.Still very much in the hunt for the playoffs with planning for next season well underway.

So if you didn't have Taylor and his 60 something goals you'd still be in the position you're in.....

Lam is a huge draw, whatever league Bristol are playing in.  Nonetheless, half a million Euro a year for a guy who has never been a number one fly half - crazy money. Madigan is a very talented player but - imo - he's never shown that he can control a game from 10 on a consistent basis.

In his defence, he really stepped up for us against France in the last World Cup when Sexton went off. His goal kicking is excellent too.

    http://www.bristolrugby.co.uk/news/ian-madigan-signs-three-year-deal-at-bristol-rugby/

    Been confirmed

Hopefully we can put Gav into a coaching role next season and maybe as a back up in case of injury then have madigan as first choice with searle as our number 2, we really need a good goal kicker who can play week in week out and hopefully a season in the championship will allow madigan and luatua to gel with the others so we are ready for the premiership

Ah...God is obviously a blue...love a bitter City rant...all those millions spunked on a team and stadium will, only maybe. have to mix it with us blue few next season...chin up guys....

Having just beaten Oxford away 2-0 you come straight onto our forum to post, obsessed doesn't even cover it....

  12. I reckon looking at the teams Bristol have a very good chance of winning this one, the backs bris have put out are too good to be in a relegation fight and i can see them winning. With regards to the tickets, Sarries are overjoyed at getting over 10k for their game this weekend so that puts things into perspective, i doubt you'll find many other bottom clubs getting 14k plus week in week out
