  1. Bath dominated tonight, when they put out a full strength side against us making 7 changes it was always going to be difficult

Bristol needed to start strongly but they didn't and Bath were on top from the beginning, Bristol, under pressure made mistakes at the line out and were dominated at the scrum which made it difficult

Mitch eadie was the only player to impress me tonight, varndell finished well but as per usual was at fault for a try

we obviously need additions and as shown by the team selection survival is the main aim this season and if we do that i can see us pushing on next season and beyond

Maybe they want more experience at half back with so many stand offs out injured. I don't know how many times Williams played for Scarlets, but I think Cliff had a lot of Sale caps before moving to Bristol. I suppose that you can't turn down opportunities to sign quality players when you're in a scrap, especially on short-term contracts.

Had no idea Baff had signed Fruean. He's had horrible injury and illness setbacks, good luck to him. I see that Bristol haven't picked Dan Tuohy, is he injured?

Bris have made a few changes looking at the line up, Tuohy isn't injured from what I've seen but we don't have the best strength in depth at lock so we don't want him being injured for quins, especially with his injury record not being the best.

I think thats just why we signed Matthewson, he has tonnes of experience and from what I've seen of him looks like a good player for a team in our position, especially with Worcester selling players in recent weeks it's good to see us bringing in fresh talent

I see that Alby Mathewson is coming from Super Rugby until the end of the season. Do Bristol have injuries at scrum half? I don't know Mathewson, but he's 130-odd Super Rugby caps and 4 NZ caps so clearly no mug. I'm not sure but it seems that his contract with Western Force is up too, so there might be room for him to stay if he goes well.

Weird one imo, hes obviously a top player but we have williams and cliff who are two good scrum halves, getting an All black can only be good though!

  4. Good for Bristol to have a few weeks break from the league, a win on Friday v Bath would be massive for confidence and with Woodward looking like he might be out its good they don't have a premiership game on the weekend

Quins will be a must win game imo, they've lost every away game this season and will be without their England internationals, and with Worcester playing sarries it will be a massive opportunity to overtake them

My mate (a rugby fan who cant afford the tickets) came with me and he couldn't understand why they didn't run it more - every time they kicked it straight down the throat of the sale lot and allowed them to come forward.

they looked like a team with no belief and more than a little out of their depth. Sale effectively tore them a new arsehole at their liesure!

its been the same week in week out, we have players who can't kick trying to kick and failing, awful

Dear me this thread makes for dreadful reading! Bit of a rugby novice - have Bristol not got a reasonable chance of survival if it's only one to go down?

Also, why are they so ill-prepared for the Premiership? Have they not been given the investment they need? It just doesn't feel very Lansdown-like to let this happen - I know we've had our struggles but, ultimately, lack of investment has not really been the issue.

    Genuinely curious.

Firstly, we should have a good chance of survival but the way we've been playing we really don't look like staying up

Lansdown went for big money signings in the summer and they didn't materialise so we were left with very few signings and a very similar squad to the one of last season which is no where near good enough. In rugby its so much more difficult to bring in quality as the gap between the premiership and championship is so great, you can have as much money as you want but with wage caps etc bigger clubs are always going to get the better players

  7. I've been going regularly this season and I have to say this was the worst performance of the season, we lacked any sort of commitment going forward and seemed to kick the ball away at every opportunity. I hoped we may win a game for once but it looks like we may do a London Welsh

I wouldn't say deluded .. We as fans have a right to dream. . and at the moment we have a right to dream. . Mock all you want we don't care

There is dreaming, then there is delusion, if an Oxford fan said they would be above Newcastle next season, they would be called deluded...
