  1. Exactly. 10m worth of CBs. He has signed two right backs and now playing a 19 year old attacking midfielder out there. He signed 2 old cms with no legs. Loads of cms out with muscular injuries but he signed Dave Rennie to help with that. I am really just frustrated with the lack of performances. Points wise bordering on ok but not sure I have seen many worse sides this season and I have been to 17-18 of the 23 so far this season.
  2. Yes but worryingly I see the same next season. There is no indication NP can get us playing in a manner that will be successful. Throwing transfers at it isn’t the way. He should be building a better foundation and style to recruit to. There doesn’t seem to be a plan. We aren’t a high pressing counter attack side. We aren’t a possession based side who is patient and waits for openings. We aren’t a drop deep and hit teams on the counter with pace side. We don’t do anything well and sorry there is enough here to be a lot more competitive than we have been.
  3. Agree about Martin as well. Especially as Semenyo has shown he can play the back to goal role pretty decently with the added pace and directness. I could go along with this season was a write off. Think we all had low expectations. That said, I personally need to see more positive signs than I have so far. Half the season is over and I just don’t see signs of an improving play style. I don’t see an improved pressing side. We still aren’t comfortable in possession. The defence has not gotten better and if not the same it is worse. Don’t feel the fitness is better nor the ability to keep players fit. I don’t feel we can go on a run. Feels like 27 points first half of season and probably 25-30 second half.
  4. Sorry it wasn’t specifically aimed at you. Just quoting your initial bit. No I wouldn’t ban a 10 year old either. There were however 4-5 others who thought it ok too. I’d be ok for that to be looked at.
  5. It wasn’t the initial bit. Carried on for a bit with probably 5-6 things thrown down every time the corner should be taken. And it isn’t an overreaction at all. Throwing things at people isn’t ok. It stopped the game for 5-6 minutes. Inexcusable and defending it shows a lack of moral fibre.
  6. Absolute joke then the singing afterwards like what they done was ok. Yes we aren’t a great watch at the minute but you don’t create atmosphere by chucking things at other humans.
  7. Johnson got the money. Pearson gets the excuses. He’s been a poor appointment and hasn’t gotten this team to play the honest high intensity football he promised. Lethargic all afternoon. Not only were they a much better footballing side but they were fitter and more physical than us. So what has he made us? 7 signings were his. Rennie was supposed to keep our best players fit. New contracts to the two young lads starting. New assistant manager in old ones out. He has had enough time and made enough decisions to have the team not be outworked almost a full season on with a preseason. And our best football has come when he hasn’t been around with covid. Slowly draining the football out of our best players. Two young promising attacking midfielders I’ll put them at wingback. Play a striker in midfield who breaks down countless attacks with poor touches and passes. Down 3-1 take a cb off for a LB but play him a good amount at LCB. Square pegs round holes sounds like the stick to beat johnson with yet nothing for “big nige” He is a has been manager who has fallen out with multiple playing staff over the years and had one successful spell with talent in his staff and recruitment department. And millions of quid in a time 3-4m gets you top talent. Sick of the experiment. Sick of the football on offer. Sick of being outworked every week. And before you talk about money Huddersfield didn’t spend anything on fees this summer. Released almost as many as we did. Relying on frees and loans. None of the prem squad are really there anymore. All with a coach nobody knew before he was hired.
  8. It was time for LJ to go but he was a success for his time here. He inherited a relegation battle and yes he was backed to stay up but he did. We say how good Flint and Bryan were but they were going to get relegated their first season in the league. Johnson enhanced their games. He moved Reid to a forward position(stumbled upon or not he made the call to use him when many others would not). Again on player development Brownhill was lost his first 4-5 months at city. He started the opening match against Wigan I believe and looked awful. By Boxing Day he was borderline running games from midfield. He was the one that wanted Webster if Flint were to go. He had a clear idea of what he wanted and how to use him. We can beat him with the 50 players and however many millions stick but can’t we see a lot of that was Ashton now? The szmodics and Palmer thing seems a prime example. Szmodics felt like a LJ signing. Palmer an Ashton one. Not that either are brilliant but think many felt szmodics was a better fit for this club. He left first because he had interest and we wouldn’t lose money on him. Again, it was time for him to go. He needed a recharge for sure. I’ll go out on the limb though and say if he were to come now from Sunderland, having not been here before, I think he’d get more from this squad than Pearson is. All the mess included. And I absolutely despised LJ by the end.
  9. I’d use the window to get a few more out, even temporarily. That is trying to loan out Palmer or Dasilva for example. Hard to do but have a month and by the end desperation can start to set in for clubs. I wouldn’t really look at loans unless it was a view to a permanent deal. Then I’d be waiting to pounce on the right opportunity if it arises. Be it a striker, LB or right sided attacker/winger. Otherwise, I’d start developing players for next season. That is Semenyo playing primarily as a striker. That is more minutes for Benarous and Conway. Maybe get Cundy some minutes and see if he can provide. Get Scott central more often. I don’t really feel relegation is likely for us(famous last words). So crucial to start getting minutes to players that will be here next season. So that will eventually be relying less on Martin and King/Baker when back.
  10. Idk how people can defend the pricing to he honest. For Dolman Central, where I sit, it is more expensive than my season card works out at. I see people mentioning it is much cheaper than normal potd but how many people are we talking about here? The most interested in going to this fixture will be the diehards. 85-90% will be people that attend regularly. They have a ground the regularly only fill to 2/3s capacity and yet they seem determined not to ever try and fill it even more when opportunity arises. I get the younger tickets are cheaper and well done for that. Still just can’t help but think the club can never get it spot on. They always seem to overthink or think they are too clever. Not sure what it is. Cut those adult prices by a third and think you have it right. Only thing I’ll say is, are they anticipating some sort of limit on crowds by this time? In that case, it would be the two clubs trying to maximise revenue. Though not right PP clubs or prem clubs can dictate the price the home side charges.
  11. I think so too but I will credit James for a better second half. First half always felt like his intent was to turn and pass backwards even not under pressure. Second half thought he found space better and looked for the forward pass when he could.
  12. Can definitely confirm it is dreadful here. No intensity closing down. No intensity in the passing. Very few intense runs from our forward players. A lot of sideways and backards because of that. Generally it a performance pre international break where the energy just isn't there
  13. And James has been ******* dreadful. Spends his whole game passing to Kalas and Vyner. We have no one now to find our forwards and we look worse for it. And Nige agreeing with you doesn’t exactly help your argument ? dreadful dinosaur tactics
  14. The Jorginho mistake last weekend comes to mind. He didn’t do the wrong thing as you said. Just didn’t execute how he wanted to
  15. Yep he is terrible. Part of 2 clean sheets in 3 games. Would have been 3 of 4 if the far superior cb partner could clear his lines with his feet. What is wrong with this place lately? 17th place championship club doesn’t have a squad full of high end championship to low end premier league players at every position. We have had one of our best spells of the season yet we have people saying we should be letting players go for free or saying they are trying to concede on purpose. Absolutely crazy.
  16. ? how can you preserve an asset but he is a L1 or L2 player? How much we making off him if Accrington come in for him? ? surely we’d be better off letting him leave on a free? Mate get a few glasses of water down you. Maybe some ibuprofen and paracetamol and sleep this off mucker.
  17. Yes honestly. He is a very good player. I’d pick him over James personally. At his best think he offers more than James. But the sub was a good one today. Personally I’d have one or the other. Not both on the pitch at the same time. So it is a preference thing. For me, today, it 100% suited Bakinson and his vision more than James and his graft. Thought James was excellent when he came on but can’t play every game so having both is a good situation. Personally just think it is disgusting the abuse Bakinson gets. I am not sure he has ever been the worst player on the pitch. Yet he gets talked about like he is of conference level. That is not the case. You have to build a midfield to support Bakinson at his current ability and maybe not as much so for James. But we are dealing with a 23 year old in his second season at this level. NP has made his statements about players not committed yet Bakinson has been involved to almost Weimann and Martin levels and has gotten an extension. It is clear he is rated. Yet @Better Redwants rid. We are a championship club and we won’t get a complete player at any position.
  18. @Better Redon the piss tonight. Good wind up lad got me going for a minute
  19. Content like this make me think I should retire from the forum. Absolutely the wrong day to slag this man off. I have been critical of Bakinson in the tackle and going into 50/50 balls. He didn’t shirk tackles today. He went into the odd aerial battle. All that with his normal quality on the ball getting his head up and looking for runners. Idk what you expect from city players but sounds like you want Bakinson to be Vieira reincarnated. He is at Bristol City for a reason. We don’t have a complete midfielder at the club. Bakinson adds what no one else can which is vision and a forward pass. The abuse of the lad is embarrassing.

    So

I hope so. I personally need to see more. Not sure he sets up in a way that will be successful in the championship. That said, it could be a personnel issue why we don’t set up in a more aggressive way. If you take Barnsley for example they were quite front foot when we played them. It left them very open at the back and we were able to capitalise. So maybe more to come. ?

    So

I am still quite in the camp that Pearson isn’t the right man for the job. That said, he has them playing with more energy and cohesion. So long may that continue. Need to do away with performances like Sheffield United but that is kind of a one off with the KO time, weather and new manager bounce.
  22. I have seen it around probably fb or twitter. No i am trying ever so hard to balance the conversation. All I see on here is 80% saying he should be getting minutes here based of goals in the u23s and a goal in a meaningless last match of the season. I don’t rate or not rate him. I am saying we have all this evidence from the club saying he is miles away from this level. Yet we have over half the fanbase saying he should be in the squad. I hope he does well but get the impression he needs to work a lot harder for a career at our level.
  23. By the time he was on the pitch he was up against one of their reserve cbs, a midfielder and jansson. The game for them was a stay fit exercise as their spot in playoffs was basically confirmed. Again I am not saying he can’t have a career here. I am saying he is talked about like he should have displaced Chris Martin in the summer. When in reality the club is telling you they don’t rate him. One thing the club has been getting right is bringing through the academy lads when they are ready. Britton currently is quite far down that list.
  24. I really really don’t get the love in for Britton. Scored once in a meaningless last 15 minutes on the last day of the season when we were down 3-0. Oh and he scores for the u23s where he is a bit older than the rest of our u23s. He has made two matchdays in our worst team in the last 8 years. Been called out by the manager for not being fit enough. Didn’t get a new deal from city in the summer when 4 others of similar age and development did. Scored once in over 300 minutes at national league level when he was there. All that and this guy is going to come change our fortunes? Even if I forgot all that, we are still Bristol City and don’t supply our strikers with much opportunity. I am all for young players but I don’t get the love in. How many times do we say stats can be misleading? Yet most of the people saying he should play go look at his goals for the u23s. I hope he does well but all evidence so far points to him not getting close to this level
  25. I don’t mind PP so much but surely it would be easy enough to place teams coming down under some sort of embargo. You can have the PP money for what it was intended for but you can’t use it as income. Only to pay the wages you have committed too in a higher tier. Something like can only spend what you sell and get rid of. So if relegated side sells a player on 80k a week for 15m. They can spend 15m and 80k. They still have a massive advantage but they have to weaken themselves or let an asset go first. Example Fulham have spent around 20m this summer but only sold 4. And, this is an educated guess, have added more than they have subtracted in terms of wages. This wouldn’t be allowed with an embargo such as one I stated. It supports better run clubs too. Such as Norwich, with or without embargo, think they’d have done pretty much same business as they have sold.
