When I say no more I mean the game has moved away from these types. Hard to play keep it tight at the back and pump balls forward for the odd flick on. You need someone who will drill in high intensity defending/pressing and allowing for creative freedom. Don’t get me wrong, we wouldn’t be world beaters with this squad regardless of our set up but we aren’t squeezing out as much as we can from some of these players. I think if you look at Coventry, they lacked quality at times but they were relentless. Even down to 10 men they were willing to close down quickly and get forward quickly. They were brave in possession and played their way out of trouble often times.

Bingo. Thought he was really good but made a huge mistake gambling to intercept the initial pass and compounded it by giving the ref a decision even if a bit soft for me. Same thing with Taylor Moore. Decent enough 98% of the time but the 2% often calamitous.

100% this squad is better than this. They aren’t buying into NP. Rightly or wrongly on their part, this won’t turn around under NP. Think it is pretty damning put best football over the last 6 weeks were with Fleming taking charge. Pererborough away and first half today there was fight and energy. Unfortunately we caved under the pressure yet again today.

They have 12 goals between them in a combined 34 games. A combined over 3000 minutes. A whopping goal every 250 minutes(weimann 1 every 218 minutes and Martin 1 every 296). So are we saying that is good enough? Our forwards are absolutely shambolic. The ball regularly doesn’t stick to either of them near enough and our defence under constant pressure because of it. Midfield and defence constantly looking up and seeing no movement doesn’t really breed confidence. The entire team could be better but until we give the back 4 and keeper some hope up top our problems will continue

While I agree, if Fam was really wanting 25-30k a week or more then still think it was the right move letting him go. Should have sold him once we knew his demands to help us recruit a proper replacement. So yes, an upgrade on Martin but not enough for what he wanted to stay.

The midfield and defence have no one to pass to. Every one of them gets their head up and looks for an option. Problem is their options are Weimann, Wells and Martin. There is no out ball. Teams are happy to push up and let us pump it down the channel and take their chances in a foot race with Chris Martin. Teams can press us without fear of a dangerous counter attack for the most part. So they are all playing in these small pockets of space in our own half. So the defence lump it. The midfield and wingback try to play it into that front 3 but they lose it more than they hold it up. We have tried loads of different formations and personnel at the back and in midfield. Where we haven’t tried changing it is up front.

We have played better but 1 clean sheet and generally a grind to score. Have seen city more than anyone else obviously but haven’t seen anyone perform worse than us at our worst

Reckon we are missing two of our best XI in Williams and Semenyo. Being compounded by playing a few regularly who are not part of our best XI. Think our best team would be a 433. Pring and Dasilva really close for me now so either would work. Bentley Tanner Kalas Atkinson Pring or Dasilva Massengo James Williams Semenyo Wells Scott Midfield still lightweight no matter what you do. Think this blends our best athletes and footballers into a good mould.

Not too worried about the lack of leaders. Bit overrated in my opinion. Enough experience around to sift through problems on the pitch, in theory anyway. Our lack of good footballers is the real worry. Somehow our footballing ability gets worse the further forward you get. Opposite of what you want really.

Not as many as you think. Of the players he really relies on about half he made a decision on. James, King, Tanner, Atkinson, Baker and Weimann he gave contracts to. They have all featured heavily. Then you have Massengo, Kalas and Bentley who are stand outs to add to the 5-6 he relies on. So he has at least 8-9 players he can call on that he trusts. You can add Martin to that. So basically he chosen XI are players he has chosen or are easily selected. Then there are some younger squad players who won’t be holding him back financially like Bakinson, Pring and Scott. What I mean is they can contribute and not kill the wage bill. He has a bit of dross that is hard to get rod of. That said, he isn’t getting great performances from a large portion of players he has brought in.

I think MA more to blame than LJ the more time goes by. LJ should have had say on who to bring in but seems LJ had say but also had to take on Ashton signings on tol of that. I won’t ever argue the job isn’t a tough one. My argument is we aren’t a bottom 3 squad. Think I said 14-15th at start of season and like to think that is realistic. At the minute, I haven’t seen a worse side than us. Even Barnsley should have probably come away with a point on the weekend. I like some of the players NP has brought in. I trust that he is assembling a decent back room staff. I just think the game on a matchday has passed him by. We can go round and round saying because we don’t have enough good players and that is why. At the end of it, in my opinion, is even with a below average squad we are not getting enough from it.

I wouldn’t argue that. I have said, league position wise, this isn’t a disaster at the minute. My concern is the performances and how they are steadily getting worse. Also the lack of ideas. I am not saying go put our entire bench tonight on the pitch at once. But can we not get say Scott and Bell on the pitch here and there? It isn’t as if Weimann Wells and Martin is this prolific strike force. I feel like we are regressing and not sure an incomplete squad is enough reason to regress as much as we have. The frustration is our problems are generally the same every game but we persist with the same personnel.

COD and Palmer aren’t playing though. And if I add some OTIB scapegoats like Vyner and Bakinson, they aren’t really holding us back financially. It is nice that some care but wouldn’t it be nice if they could play at a decent level? Did you just take world class managers and compare them to Pearson, Warnock, Houghton and McCarthy? ? Go look at the top 10 teams in this league and their managers. Not much experience in the championship but all doing better than the dinosaurs.

It really isn’t. Bentley most would say is a top keeper in this division. Tanner been a good buy. Simpson NP signing Kalas would get into most top 10 sides in this division. Atkinson has made the step up well enough if not spectacular. Baker a good defender when fit and resigned by Nige. Dasilva probably not up to the levels he was pre injury. Pring been one of the surprises of the season Massengo one of the best young players in the division. James I am not a big fan but one of NP signings so on him. Bakinson I like but a lot don’t. King a NP signing. Williams a good player and his man Rennie not got him fit. Ok up top is lacking quality. Though I think it is easily arguable he isn’t getting the best from any of them. In some cases flogging them and in others often playing them out of position or both. So even if we take your statement at face value, how many here are ones he has brought to the club or brought back that you speak of?

Probably! They are flying and I think if it was me, might be hard to leave that at the minute. Said to my mates on the weekend it was nice to see Weimann. Look forward to seeing him again around Boxing Day ? Because this really isn’t an awful squad but it is offering up awful performances and lately awful results. Looking at the table, you might say it is about where we should be. I can accept that. The problem is, it feels like it is getting a lot worse real quick. Bad enough where this is a bottom 3 side. And while a mess, this isn’t close to a bottom 3 squad. We should be seeing decent performances at the very least. That isn’t happening. We are regressing and it is a serious worry.

He is a dinosaur. Those older managers living off past successes are all failing. Forest and Cardiff were smart enough to get rid. Middlesborough aren’t exactly flying either. Without looking I reckon the top 10 teams don’t have a manager older than 50. Fresh faces and fresh ideas is the way forward.

Wingers aren’t going to magically make Martin a good starting forward for the championship. Deeney didn’t score tonight but held the ball up, won his aerial battles and linked up play in a way Martin could only dream of. Going into the season with the idea we could get by with Chris Martin for 46 games was absolute suicide. To compound it NP has decided Weimann needs to play every minute in forward areas as well. Thus our lack of any kind of attack. Don’t bring up Barnsley they were equally suicidal with their high line and slow cbs.

Had no problem with the change. He needs some minutes at this level to show the standard he needs to be at. Not as if city are going to be cruising at 2 or 3 nil anytime soon. He had a couple poor touches and was caught out a few times. On the flip side, he just saw how perfect and switched on he needs to be. Positive 25 minutes for him and we still got the 3 points. Rode our luck at times but we were always going to need a fair portion of luck to get that win at home. These young players are only going to help us going forward and as I said there will be no easy games to come into. Going to have to persevere at times as fans.

I wouldn’t be mad at 4 with the concussion sub still available if need be. Think 5 pushes it too far in favour for clubs with more money. We think oh it is a small change but keep getting these small changes that favour clubs with money. Need to push back imo.

Maybe and I think I’d be fine with that. I almost feel he’d be better off as a DoF for us. It is on the pitch I am more concerned with. And yes staff can stay with someone new but NP is being quite quick moving on from staff hired as recently as last season. I just hope due diligence is being done on these hires. That they are happy to work here under NP or under someone else if it comes to that.

Said in another thread just now. I am not against NP the organiser. I am just not sure he has the answers for the modern championship. Perhaps if stepped into a role of director of football and we signed a head coach. I’d be for that. We did have a perfect mix a few seasons ago. We don’t have that mix now but NP had a say in quite a few players playing for us yesterday. My problem is not our result yesterday or results in general. I feel like the performances are progressively getting worse. This on the back of an international break where we should be coming back stronger. Especially as we didn’t have many first team players abroad. As for Rennie, you can add Semenyo as well. We are missing or have missed probably 4-5 of our best 14 players for a month or more already. This doesn’t help for consistency.
