  1. I think he sees Vardy in Tommy.
  2. The only thing I think that might persuade him to sign a deal (on a much lower wage) is that he has a local girlfriend (from LA). I assume they are still together?
  3. Trying to bail out a defence that had switched off at a throw-in after subs made! Trying to narrow the angle to stop Grimes shooting.
  4. Pearson also said last night (paraphrased) that it’s tough to make an impact coming on as sub for brief minutes, so he wanted to give Sam much longer to get into the game. 33 minutes turned into 63 minutes with extra time. Would’ve been very easy to play Nahki for 75-80 and then put Sam on. Double benefit, Nahki should be fresh(er) for Saturday.
  5. I think there is a huge difference from both sides of the fence. As a generalisation - The “anti-Nige” are incredibly negative, results, win-percentages. The “Cult of Nige” are more reasoned, big picture, and not overly glowing, more “he’s got a hard job, why can’t you show some balance” in response to the negativity. No gloating, more a response of “show some patience”. As @Percy Pigsaid it’s not all about the formation per se, it’s about the seeds being sewn in a couple of tough away draws, growing confidence, the culture further embedding, the return to (a semblance of) form of Semenyo. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Nige called the messiah by and cult members, but he’s had lots of naughty boy shit lobbed at him. 5 games unbeaten isn’t “it’s all solved now”, we need to see how we shape up against some better teams too.
  6. Sounds like he came in last night and played more in the hole, with King and Williams (dropping back after replacing Scott) playing deeper. Will try to clip some if his actions once Wyscout updates last night’s games.
  7. I got this reply from (see below) @Hamdon Mart Much better (More City biased) highlights than the first lot put up…and Hadwin / Owers comms too. It was wasn’t it. Good shout.
  8. Made his debut tonight. This is a lad who was on loan at Yate earlier this season!! This wasn’t a meaningless cup-tie. This wasn’t a few minutes at the end of the match with the result confirmed. This was a debut with 20 minutes left of a match yet to be settled, coming on in the centre of midfield (with King) against the likes of Joe Allen and Jay Fulton. Fair play to the lad (and Nige too).
  9. A mate who went to the game said he was a rock tonight.
  10. Yep, I’d just love to hear exactly what was said, the reaction, etc. I don’t like the use of the phrases “thrown under the bus” or “must’ve had a bust-up”, because having been mates with ex-pros, or parents of pros, it rarely is quite as fans like to portray it. Especially when you hear players like Schmeichel speak to highly of him, or his son say he’s nothing like he is in media interviews…I’m just keen to understand how Nige handled that situation and how Rob reacted. Because to me it looks like it had the desired effect. Likewise Pring, when Nige was naming 2 RBs on the bench.
  11. Nothing better than seeing homegrown players break through and make it. I always think seeing them maje their debit gives the whole crowd a buzz.
  12. I’d love to hear Rob Atkinson’s side of this, because he’s back playing very well (better?) since his return.
  13. Nige inherited an overpaid squad with morale at a low ebb, who weren’t prepared to fit in with the culture change that was needed / he wanted to oversee. So he had to lose them / move them on, either through his choice or because they didn’t want to be part of it. That is still happening to an extent. He inherited potential in the Academy, and through the work of Tins, Hines, Challis, Ball, then Simpson, Downing, Fleming, Euell he’s groomed several into players who either can be part of a first 11 / 18 at a really young age or can come into a thin squad and do a job…like OTC tonight. OTC was on loan at Yate earlier this season! And also get incredible upside out of Vyner, and to an extent Pring. That to me is a good “manager”.
  14. I know. If you don’t hear Richard say “and it’s City on the attack”, you’re just sat there waiting for us to concede. Awful isn’t it.
  15. I’m delighted. ??? As per my post, if I had to lump on now I’d say he won’t make it. But development curves ain’t straight, hence I did say I had a side-bet ???
  16. Sounded like he’d gone all Korey Smith on them out there! Was Belly’s hamstring injury v Stoke that gave Tommy his chance.
  17. I saw a WhatsApp message saying “THAT IS WHAT HE DOES” from @petehinton as the radio comms said “and Max O’Leary had made another poor kick and given it away” and assumed we’d gone 2-1 down. ???
  18. Nige explains that he didn’t want to weaken side tomorrow for u21s v Newcastle, and as it’s a replay you can’t register any “new” players (assume he means existing ones not registered).
  19. I guess it’s our only midweek fixture in January, so maybe not so bad as a week gap after Blackburn.
