  1. Stoke was mentioned previously.
  2. Scottish Referendum???
  3. With O’Dowda gone too, you could argue there is a gap in the squad waiting to be filled. I’m a bit disappointed I didn’t have him on my long list. In my defence my “wide forward and attacking midfielders” list has Twine, Ogbene, Scully, Rudoni and Wiles (who’s more of a midfielder than forward). edit: Rotherham have exercised Ogbene’s option.
  4. Check out Tactical Change Ltd. ???? Just for info, don’t forget McInnes took on Richardson again at Aberdeen. Not the actions of a manager who thought his Chief Scout wasn’t up to the job! ???
  5. He’s played all over this season, seemed to find his best form as more of a Left Forward, and you maybe right that the move to a “10” might’ve impacted him. A player who naturally likes to drift into the left-half. I think he’s a player we should be interested in, but might be affected by the playing system we intend to deploy in terms of how far up the list he is.
  6. Thanks, I guess his role diminished during that time though! ?
  7. That is a really interesting conundrum. I think Andi is intelligent enough to score goals wherever you play him…as long as it’s central. Just don’t play him wide imho. He scored 5 in 6 playing as the main man when he first joined us. If you could shape a better “team” as a result, I’d do it like a shot. But next season’s plan are a big unknown at the mo’
  8. I really like Twine, @Harryadores him! I just have a nagging doubt about his ceiling, and wonder why no Champ clubs took him last summer. Can’t really explain it other than that….and whilst I’d have been delighted to have taken him for compo off Swindon last summer, I’m not sure I’d pay £5m+ for him this summer. Semenyo at 22 is a bit of a freak strength wise at this level….Keinan Davis is 24 and although has more strength isn’t as explosive as Antoine. He’s 3 forwards built into 1, and would be very difficult / impossible to replace like for like on the sort of money we will have available should Antoine leave. I like Daniel Udoh (26 in Aug) at Shrewsbury, not in Semenyo’s class, but I sense he’s on an upward trend, having come up through non-league. I hope Wilbs has been an influence on him. Would still be a gamble to think Udoh could replace Semenyo, but I wonder whether Nige would have to evolve the forward line of Antoine went anyway? The other player I wouldn’t turn my nose up as a real punt, would be Cole Stockton. But that would be a gamble…having said that people said he wouldn’t score at Lg1 level. I was chatting to @Sheltons Armylast night, and I’m quite drawn to players who perform in poor sides….Stockton is one of those, Rudoni (Wimbledon) is another. But it’s gonna be interesting to see what happens with Semenyo and also how our forward line might shape up over the summer…Wells might leave a gap anyway, let alone Antoine.
  9. I was a bit like that with Elvis Costello (will pique @GrahamC’s interest)…liked his music, but had no idea how good he was until I saw him live. ??? Bit of a strange story, apologies for the digression. We were on a skiing trip in Italy and in a bar at lunchtime enjoying a bit of apres ski! Oliver’s Army came on the jukebox and we started singing along. The bar owner who we called the Big Yin, because he looked a bit like Billy Connolly came over, we were expecting him to ask us to quieten down. Instead he asked whether we liked Elvis Costello, to which a few of us said yes. He then told us he (EC) was playing a gig down the road (50km or so) the following night, and as he was driving there on his own, would any of us be interested in joining him. To which a dozen of us said yes!! He obviously couldn’t fit us in his car but he then went on to say that the tickets included a free bus from the cable car station. So we went over bought our tickets, about €10, cheap as pasta! The following evening we met at the cable car station with about 30 old women (70s at least), pink rinse, fur coats, and began to wonder whether we were really going to see Elvis Costello, or maybe some Italian tribute act, or something completely different and the Big Yin had stitched us up. So, we got the bus, arrived at the town, and got dropped off outside an Opera House. We were still all a bit “suss” at this point, but then the Big Yin arrived, and some others less than 70 years of age….and a poster of the Elvis Costello, so relaxed. Elvis came on stage with Steve Nieve (pianist) and delivered an operatic set, which although wasn’t my cup of tea, really showed off his voice. He came out for the second half and played all the stuff we liked. One of my favourite gigs of all time.
  10. Yep, stuff you get away with at u18, but not u23s…where opponents are a bit more savvy and physical.
  11. The other thing is that Sharp will have had no reaction time, would’ve caught him completely unaware.
  12. Who had come in as a “football consultant” during McInnes’s reign, sacked the Chief Scout Russ Richardson and introduced a Recruitment database? You’ve guessed it? Old Smarmy Bollocks himself - Mark Ashton. I can’t comment on McInnes’s reign that much as I wasn’t watching City much at that time…but an interesting coincidence!! ?
  13. Actually James Taylor started out of position at LB. He’s a RB / RCB. So ended up back in a familiar position. I was surprised to see City set up with him at LB and Wood at RCB2 (Towler (LCB2). Think they were concerned with Tavares pace, but as it happened Taylor handled him well.
  14. I’m a big “down” on Kadji, he comes with a lot of hype, but I’ve not really seen it other than a good hour v Fleetwood in last years FAYC. But sometimes I accept it’s possible to have a blindspot on a particular player. Got plenty of time on his side. Thought Backwell made a good impact, played some nice passes. You must have had a paper round on Constitution Hill if you think you are 18!!!
  15. Had a right bellend sat near me…18 year old who I thought was gonna have a heart attack.
  16. I thought Kadji was poor, coasted, doesn’t track men or check his shoulders. Really disappointed by him. I spent most of my time watching him and Zac Bell who impressed again. First time I’ve seen Rose, did well. Wood got exposed quite a few times, but less so when he swapped with Taylor, who gave the best performance I’ve seen from him. Conway was excellent.
  17. Yes, get that, agree….but that’s because of the history of it (the “stigma”) I guess. I’m thinking in a more theoretical world of people not being so closed in their thinking, fearful of people who are “different” (hate that term) to themselves etc. I’m probably not expressing it very well.
  18. Sorry, t’other way around….must keep “taxes” up to date.
  19. I guess, there shouldn’t even need to be a term “coming out”, nor it made to feel like it is in itself an “event”???
  20. This thread is a real eye-opener….wow. Glad the the vast majority seem well educated / informed, etc.
  21. This ruling is part of the new uefa FFP rules.
  22. Sounds like something to delete from your history quickly!
  23. Yes the second half with Vance was very informative.
