  1. Out of interest, why the desire to play Alex Scott behind the strikers? Most of his age group appearances (both City and England) are in the centre of midfield. Is it because there is a thinking that “flair player must be a number 10”? My view is that you want to get Alex Scott on the ball as much as possible and in when their third you want him facing forward. Playing him as a number ten limits how much you get him on the ball, and he’ll spend a fair bit of of his ball receiving positions back to goal or on half-turn.
  2. Out of interest, what’s the insight into this?
  3. @spudskithought you might like this. I agree that he has improved his finishing, but wonder whether some of it is shot selection too? Those half a dozen shots from the right hand corner of the penalty are low percentage chances, a few more taken from outside the box in 19/20 (20/21 injury hit) versus this season (21 v11) make a big difference too. Think it might’ve been after the Swansea game when he scored his 1v1, I looked at all of his chances, and he scored every 1v1. That’s pretty epic. Did you hear his BBCRB interview on Saturday evening. Usual stuff from Hadwin about “did you have too much time”. The reply was (paraphrased) “I had it under control, waiting to see whether the keeper was gonna come out and I might be able to go around him. But he stayed back so I planned to hit it past him with a bit of height”. Shows a man confident and in control. If Antoine could improve his shot selection further (I think he has a bit already), then he could be lethal. His finish on Saturday was him not trying to hit it as hard as he could!!!
  4. I can only guess that Wilson agreed his terms at the time too…or Fulham are picking up his Liverpool contract in its entirety. Obligation to buy is covered in accountancy terms here:
  5. It shows a complete lack of understanding of the financial situation / market, or more likely his refusal to accept it and then give him an angle to blame Pearson for a bad signing!
  6. She’s paying his £20k p.w. Wages.
  7. Yep, I was t inferring they couldn’t make signings / offer contracts, just that must meet conditions.
  8. Still under embargo at this point in time. Interesting!!!
  9. Yes, I’ve used my £1.82 to buy Kasey Palmer.
  10. Honeyman has a year option . Allegedly the player who covers the most km per match. We will probably see that on Saturday. Yiadom a bit of a blindspot for me. Rinomhota definitely an option though.
  11. In our last 8 games we’ve started: Cundy / Klose / Atkinson James / xxxxxxx
  12. Not just “people” but the one and only “Mr Pedant”. ???
  13. Not to read tonnes into but this is the goals for and against table for each player whilst they are on the pitch. Sorted on goal difference per 90 mins. (I excluded Duncan Idehen)
  14. Brownhill also has a very good agent who kept City on their toes re his contract…ultimately getting a £7m release clause built-in, that although wasn’t triggered was a big part of him going when he did.
  15. Me too, and not just League positions, but the haves and have-nots financially too.
  16. Seems to be from last week’s interview he sees the front three as as a 2+1 (behind) rather than 3 strung across the line….which although being a bit “football manager” is my preference. I can see the 43 bit of the 433 being one athletic DM and two CMs which you can mix and match.
  17. You beat me to it @REDOXO. We are seeing a little bit more consistency in team selection through the centre of the pitch, something we’ve not been able to do that often this season. Nige has often said “competition for places is key”. Cundy | Klose | Atkinson - a threat at both ends of the pitch, 8 successive starts together James has been the constant in CM, 9 consecutive starts, even if it’s meant rotating Massengo and Williams. I’m not sure on an individual performance level he’s hit the heights but maybe it’s the stuff that we can’t see that is giving us better structure. I did think he had a good game v Derby though. Perhaps we are finally building partnerships / pairings….to match the WSM. Coincidence or not, P8 W3 D3 L2 is our best run of the season, the same as our first 8 games of the season. It is frustrating to lose points from leading positions and I’d rather we didn’t, but I just think it’s the nature of where we are as an evolving squad. Back in September it was - “if our away form drops that’s it we are down” type stuff. I said I didn’t really care where our points come from. As it happened our home and away form switched around.
  18. I bet half of these aren’t OOC, or at least have one year options.
  19. Yep, can get too blinkered by assists and goals. He does need to improve that output though. But on Saturday although he made a couple of bad passing, i thought his introduction was a part of us finishing the game strongly. We were under a fair bit of pressure with Derby back in it at 2-1. We saw it out well, getting the 3rd goal in that period. I am resigned to him leaving now, but I really hope we can keep him.
  20. Accounting loss I’m afraid (22/23). No transfer profit expectation though.
