  1. FWIW, Should Joe Williams get 4 more bookings to reach 10 he needs to get one in each of the next 4 games, as the 10 booking amnesty is 37 games, same for Martin, Scott and Pring.
  2. My first proper dabble into data analysis! Joe Williams Bolton 18-19.
  3. I’ve mentioned several times that his playing style resembles Gerrard. Here we see perhaps the defensive traits better. Credit: jbcfc on twitter
  4. I think all three will be here next season. I think they will buy into the progress being made and the potential for 40+ games a season. Scott is tied down to 2025 anyway. Semenyo and Massengo are in contract talks. My gut feel is that in Massengo’s case there could be deliberation over getting a mutually acceptable buy-out clause. I think if Massengo wanted to leave, talks would’ve stopped.
  5. Yes, Nige said that post-match to Bristol Post reporter. Can see Cundy coming in for Williams and back to the more “conventional” 3412. As well as Pring did in the last 25, I don’t see the WBs being changed. Possible Wells for Martin to freshen up the eleven.

    Weimann

Martin’s work second half versus McNair and Fry aerially / back to goal from Bents kicking was brilliant. I don’t recall either of them winning clean ball, if winning it at all. Sometimes nobody won it but then Boro had a bouncing ball to contend with. Not all of us! ?
  7. Last gig before Covid Lock Down was HMHB at “Odyssey”! Between songs, Trevor Tainton got mentioned in the lead singers rambles. Tranny fans I think, like their footie. Trescothick was spotted by them in the crowd too.
  8. Was a different set piece set up yesterday. Typically Kalas defends the 6 yard box…yesterday he marked Crooks. He did lose him on the goal.
  9. Joao, Meite and Swift back is a big boost.

    Weimann

There was just one occasion, about an hour in, when he didn’t run back, but he’d just bust a gut to join in and we gave up possession. Otherwise he worked his nuts off yesterday. Pressing wise, last Sunday 1st half v Swansea and yesterday we got our forward press pretty much spot on. I think we’ve realised that stopping these teams getting it wide stops their patterns. Last week we let their keeper kick it. Yesterday we let Fry have it. We didn’t let them build out through McNair (their usual route) or to a lesser extent Dijksteel, you could see Fry didn’t really want to drive through the middle. That was something I was worried about pre-match, and we negated it. Weimann was disciplined in doing a 70:30 job on Howson, 70% marking him, 30% blocking Fry’s passing lanes, whilst Martin and Semenyo split. He went to Fry after about 15 mins and Howson got on it in acres. He didn’t make that mistake again. He was very disciplined. You can’t always stop it because it depends on whether you’ve had chance to get into shape off of your lost possession or not, but when we could we were exemplary in executing it.
  11. No, I was lip-reading and he said “Dad said, sorry Mr Wilder said if you do anything like that again, I’m to give you a red card, you got away with it this time because the pea in my whistle got stuck”! ?
  12. First half especially, we defended some of Tavernier’s corners for our lives. Martin and Bentley intervening. Second half they failed to miss the first man quite a few times from the Dolman side….until the 90th minute.
  13. Are you including yourself in that ?????
  14. Also supportive of the Women’s team (staff and players). I’ve heard that he’s been very helpful to Lauren Smith (Manager) and the players get a bit of a lift when he watches games. Back to Academy, the more players he selects and prove ready, the less he needs to “buy in” from outside and cost base reduces. That’s Sustainability in my eyes, not what we did previously.
  15. I genuinely believe a big gust of wind stopped the cross arriving at the pace it should have. Andi is good at heading the ball, it just died on him.
  16. In fairness, it was Nige who called him a “front sweeper”, not me. Can’t claim that! Rather than Beckenbauer (who I was too young to see, first WC was 78 for me) I thought it was more Ronald Koeman like.
  17. Martin Paterson walked over and said to Joe “you might as well have it, I’ve been shit in it!”. Waggy I asked him, as he was always coming over to the Wheelchair area during the season, mainly to chat with Oskar, but it was the last game of the season. Joe got his home shirt, Oskar got his away shirt.
  18. First 20 mins was ok…then between him and his assistant on the LS side, they missed lots and got lots wrong. Ask @TDarwallwho the gobby shit sat a couple of rows behind him, shouting at them both all game, was? ??? The ref’s performance was embarrassing. Like situations, no foul given against them, but foul against us.

    Antoine

Worth watching his two touches for the Antoine’s goal. A little flick over the lunging midfielder’s leg, followed by a deft flick with the outside of his right foot on the half volley to Antoine. And he’s in talks. I think he signs, just as Massengo Will too. Re Massengo, watch him around the Training Ground on the Robins uncut videos. Always seemed a bit of a loner last season, now he’s one of the boys with Alex, Tommy, etc. With the likes of Williams, Weimann etc around them with have the makings of a good squad with the right additions, and just as importantly the right players gone.
  20. I genuinely don’t feel anyone will come in for Andi.
