  1. Current contract signed in 2019, yeah, he won’t be on much, not in the grand scheme of things. If Pearson is trying to create a squad of more balanced range of wages, then if Weimann is on £10k p.w (all speculative) then you’d expect Antoine to be moving towards that figure. We will not get a new striker of his type permanently or on loan for the extra £300-£350k p.a that is £3-4k p.w to £10k p.w. Would be brilliant business if we can tie him down. Was coming back from having my car serviced earlier and flicked onto TS…Simon Jordan was on with Jim White and I assume the “Martin” was Martin Keown. Was talking about wages, and made the point that often Academy players are paid less than someone who’s joined the club from elsewhere. Just said, that’s just what it is, but that predominantly it’s performances that drive a players wages.
  2. I would imagine Mel will pay Boro. It’s Boro that need the money not Gibson. I guess the two outcomes are: - he’s agreed to pay Boro a mutually agreeable sum - he’s agreed to underwrite the result of the claim
  3. Does that mean it was 17 seconds long?
  4. I’m confident all 3 will be here next season. I think Massengo will sign a new deal. Maybe I’m naive, but do his reps bother entering negotiations if they have no plans to extend? We aren’t hearing the kind of noise from Massengo / Agent about looking for another club like we did every window with Brownhill. That extension may come with a release clause that protects both Han and City. Would he want to uproot the family set-up he’s got in Bristol at this point? I would be looking to extend Antoine too.
  5. Genuinely worth is probably impossible to answer. How much could be receive if we sold him this summer? God knows. A lot will depend if he’s keen to move or not. If he’s not, then does there become a point where we can’t refuse an offer? I don’t think that second part will be a scenario. I think we’ve put a £20m price tag on his head, because at this point nobody is gonna pay that much. I honestly believe Forest probably tested the water with £5m(ish) and we said go away. Just like they did when Brentford tested them with £12m for Johnson, they said come back when you have at least £20m.
  6. It’s only 1120 mins too…12.4 game equivalent. In a bottom half side. Viva the GOAT!
  7. It’s almost as if some posters don’t recognise the positional switch that he made too. Wide forward / winger last season, even wingback at times….to bona fide centre forward this season. To keep quoting things like 5 in 70 when so many are sub appearances too? He’s an emerging talent, one who’s on an upward trend. I think some posters pride has been hurt by jumping on him as “Lg1 at best” a bit too early. When will OTIB ever learn?
  8. I’m guessing it is being broadcast on Robinstv for international viewers, and those flying via VPN airways???
  9. Yeah, Atkinson and Klose in the same team attacking near and middle of goal, together with Kalas attacking the back post ought to have some threat.
  10. I thought Wells was a decent striker from his Bradford days….one whose career previously had always been one step ahead of us, e.g. he was always a bit better than our level at the time and therefore had better suitors. The time we bought him, was purely down to sweetening the Brownhill deal. Brownhill has a £7m release clause in summer 2020, Burnley will offer us £7m plus add-ons now. We then say, got any players to make it sweeter? We get Wells. Can only guess Vydra was too dear / still part of their plans / had no interest in coming here. We’d have been better taking the £7m plus add-ons and bringing in a different striker….there were hundreds of potential players, but we allowed ourselves to narrow it to one club. Surely we had a list of suitable targets from a bigger pond? Where have I seen that concept of looking in a smaller pond before? Ah, yes, global search, you’d be surprised who we are speaking too….yes we were surprised - Dean Holden.
  11. How do you fit it all in….do you have jobs (life???) outside of podcasts?
  12. The irony of his answer to my question - if we’d not been on a zoom call, I may have been much more animated. You do need an “Ian” on the pod, but they can’t be allowed to dominate. I enjoyed today’s episode.
  13. Matty James hits really good areas from his corners but they are more loopy. Scott delivers with pace.
  14. The cynic in me wonders whether the carrot of a new deal was on the table then, no agreement reached, and his form (reasonable level of performance, nothing brilliant) has tailed off. I hope that’s not the case and it’s truly form / confidence. You have to learn the position too though Spud. He’s played it in Lg2 and in fairness he looked a real “bomber” in that position. But the Championship is a whole different ball-game. Last night was just the second time he’d started at LWB for us. The early games this season were LW/LM and he took a while to play a full 90. That’s not a huge shock for a player who’d only played 9 Lg1 games before this season. Of course fitness (stamina) might need improving, but so might his understanding of the position, when to stand still, when to burst forward or back. I’d also prefer a back 4, but in the meantime I’m happy to see Pring develop his ability to cope with the demands of LWB. He’s shown a wonderful versatility in his first 6 months at this level.
  15. And maybe that gives confidence to do that in future games too?
  16. Ta, so to summarise. Club X went over £39m…penalised appropriately. The season after that cycle, their 2 “old” seasons are capped at £13m each, therefore “new year 1” has to be within £13m. Cycle of “old season” (£13m), plus “new season 1&2” (£26m) - new seasons 1&2 could be £5m +£21m for example. The next cycle is new seasons 1+2+3.
  17. I wonder if Podbean live is part of the issue?
  18. @Mr Popodopolousa Q for you. Are Reading still working to a 3 year cycle, or are they on single year monitoring? I’m never quite sure what happens. Ta @Beni71
  19. Nah, just he’s no longer our player, and there is little / no affinity with him anymore.
  20. My scale has no highs and lows, no half marks!!!! Twas a 6 from me. As for the rest: Vyner, Kalas, Klose 7s (Len Goldman style) Dasilva 6, Massengo (n/a), Scott 7, Pring 6 Martin 5, Semenyo 7 Subs: Williams 7, O’Dowda (n/a), Cundy (n/a) They look fair across the whole 90. I bottled giving O’Dowda a mark….I usually have a 15 minute cut-off…but I raised it to 20 especially! ?
  21. Dave - because we weren’t live, we used zoom, so we could all see each other and could raise our hands when we wanted to interject. I think that helps. Dave P is gonna look at whether using Streamyard rather than Podbean might be better, that had live video….although very much a case of faces for Radio!!!
  22. I think some of what gets me in my clip and other examples in the past is where he runs afterwards. He looks lost at times. I know I’m sounding harsh but he plays so naively, like a little boy lost. He’s 27 in April. Some of that may be confidence gone, I don’t know. His ball receipt positions (just looked at his last 20 games) and passes are virtually all on the touchline. That could be tactical, but look at Pring bursting infield, his receiving position might be wide, but his passing position has variation. FWIW and a tiny bit of defence of him, because like FBC “I tell it how it is”….I did see him moving a bit gingerly before the clip I showed. But then he appeared to be fine after that.
