  1. Referee: James Linnington Not the best ref, but not in my bottom three, although not far off.
  2. I guess Villa’s argument was that they’d sell Grealish (and others?) at the end of the season had they not gone up and needed to find £x million. great post….??????
  3. Played 541 last time out (Fulham away), but they’ve tended to go 442, especially at home. If Madine plays then we mustn’t let him peel onto Pring. If that happens I would suggest a quick change to 442, move Pring to LB and assign Klose to him with him and Kalas as a CB2. O’Dowda (or whoever plays LWB) will have a big test against Bowler, and I will be looking to see if we can impose on him, but as a minimum stopping him may go a long way to getting the points. Youd hope Martin and Semenyo can get some change out of Heck-Potato and Keogh…but Keogh usually plays well against us. Garbutt at LB has a lovely left foot, but also rash in the tackle. Can be got at.
  4. I’d try downsy@bcfc.co.uk You will probably get a shout out pre-game or h-t as a minimum. Might even get to be the higher or lower entrant. He likes to be called Downsy, not Ian!!!
  5. Really enjoyed watching that. Suspect 3 of my summer long-lost will be unrealistic now, as everyone will be in for them.
  6. Congratulations on your impending centenary ???
  7. Kirchner having a right pop on twitter tonight. This isn’t the only tweet.
  8. How did it go for his dad there? I’m not sure I’m ready for Johnson and Fry double-act…..eek! ?
  9. Would he be better to guarantee / underwrite this on Derby’s behalf? To me sounds like he thinks he being clever, knowing that Boro and WW won’t change who they are after compo from, I.e. it’s just posturing to make himself look good (again). If he did underwrite it, then surely the bidders can bid with full knowledge of the cost?
  10. I can imagine at least 24 clubs would be against it….those in Lg2! Lot of Derby fans showing true colours again tonight @DerbyFan, re-starting their Mel Morris messiah stuff again, saying that he’s called their bluff. Like you say, I bet it’s not as simple as they suggest! Not sure Boro’s comms we’re very good either. Getting messier and messier by the day.
  11. I thought Keith Hill might’ve got a “turn” out of Scunny but not looking that way. Good luck!
  12. Hasn’t been announced. Some on here might have an inside track, unlike me.
  13. My position on LJ is - he did good things and bad things. In terms of his LMA letter, it’s pretty decent, no bitterness etc, not sure you can use this against him. Im really interested where he ends up. Sunderland was a cracking job to get after City. Still think it was a bonkers sacking too.
  14. The answer in the most basic of terms is because that’s the rules of belonging to / being a member of the EFL. They can follow the letter of the law, just that they’ll have to give up their EFL membership. I gave a crap analogy on twitter: Is it law that you have to wear trousers and a collar when you play at the golf club you become a member at? No, but it is the club rules. If you don’t wear the right clothes, you can’t play.
  15. The couple of times I’ve seen him for Eng u19s (not whole matches) he looks to be as good (if not better) than his peers….all of whom with the odd exception are attached to PL clubs. Its not like a 17 year old (as he was at the start of the season) came into an established team as the token youngster and was helped along the way. He’s come into a team going through a difficult rebuild where he’s excelled and influenced team performances. Absolute effing nugget on our hands. I haven’t been this excited about a youngster since Tammy and he wasn’t ours. Even HNM didn’t have the sane impact as Alex Scott. Am I going OTT?
  16. That’s the basis of my own “summer lists”, i.e. realistic players, hence a bias towards lower-end Champ, Lg1 and Lg2. I think the only player I had that was unrealistic in my list last summer was Lewis O’Brien…that was just wishful thinking.
  17. Just saw a tweet from Scott Davidson that they’ve managed to get footage of Jimmy Mann’s 40 yarder past Shilton, and they’ll be showing that on the day.
  18. I remember a PNE scout coming down to watch one of our strikers at Brislington who’d been banging the goals in. He allegedly asked someone which player it was, saw the player was slightly greying so asked how old he was. 32 was the reply. “Ah, bollocks, heard he was 19”…got in his car and drove off.
  19. Semenyo now 22. ??? A good list…Jacob Greaves is on my watch list…bugger, hoped he’d stay under the radar.
  20. Comes to something when you don’t even pay the St Johns ambulance bill….and the fans whip round and pay it for you. I guess any business providing services / goods to a football club ought to ensure their payment terms are sound, and they understand the impact of long term non-payment. I know that’s easy to say.
  21. Wilder doing a good job isn’t he….good manager, good appointment. If Boro go up the season Derby go down, Gibson will be a happy man.
  22. I remember that. God knows why I turned off of the main Wells Road which was fine to take a short cut through the Happy Landings lights. I applied the brakes, nothing happened apart from the start of a slide down towards West Town Lane, across West Town Lane, and cosied up nicely against the hedge of the Imperial Ground. No damage done, the kerb slowed me down, but I learned to stick to main roads in snowy, icy conditions after that!
