When Massengo gave the ball away, my first reaction was for him to sprint as quickly as he could to not play anyone onside. He didn’t. I will try and pause it on the cross when Wyscout updates, because Collins is very tight to being offside - but obviously played on by Massengo. I believe they will. Both sides struggled, we weren’t outplayed, they were no better, just had a few set pieces that’s all. Just because we weren’t playing well, doesn’t always mean our opponent is though. Imho.

Just need to win every 3 or 4 games and we are fine. I don’t see us going on a 7/8 winless run of games. I actually see us hitting 50+ fairly easily.

Earlier I called him an “over-size” Joe Bryan…especially when he’s driving forward with the ball. Bit of work to do on his positioning as a LCB3, but his versatility (like Scott) is a huge bonus with a small squad.

Their goalscorer Ryan Longman is on my watch-list. On loan from Brighton, will have a year left on his contract in the summer (exp. June 2023), would be someone I’d seriously look at if he was sensibly priced.

Nige picked the same team as I would’ve….doesn’t happen that often. I got a bit of stick for picking O’Dowda in my team suggestion earlier this week. But you can’t just drop a player after one bad game, after he’s played decently for a period. I was worried he was trending down, but he was much better today, did his hard work, grew in confidence, just lacked that final ball. Better.

This is why for some time I’ve insisted that he needs to play down the middle (somewhere). @JonDolmanhe was quiet most of the first half, agree. Got that little ricochet second half on the halfway line under the Dolman, and he was off. He sparked everything, all we had to do was get a ball bouncing around their CBs and he caused all manner of problems. Linked well with Martin second half too. My only bit of annoyance is that he might actually become a bit better than I thought ???

Thought Weimann played a bit too advanced in the opening 30 mins- in between Pack and their back 3. I’d have preferred him to be a bit more conservative, play goalside of Pack, who as you say seemed to pick up loads of loose balls unopposed. However it was Weimann (from Scott pass) that isolated Flint for our equaliser, so yin and yang. Second half Weimann’s energy exposed Pack big-time and he was bearing down on their back 3 (with Semenyo) countless times. So, I think ultimately Weimann’s aggressive positioning win over. Because LJ wouldn’t let him have any freedom. Why Pack didn’t go up for corners (D.Rennie like) god only knows.

Welcome back, you been away? As for Scott, thought if we could have got the ball to him at RWB he had the beating of Ng, playing on his wrong side. Moved into midfield. Assured touch, wants the ball….but what impressed me Second half was 2 or 3 times he was tight enough to anticipate a heavy touch and pinch the ball and set us on his way. CM is his best position. He might not always get minutes there, he might sometimes find it hard in there, but he’s a player undoubtedly…and one with a very astute football brain, was directing Massengo around at times. Doesn’t shirk his defensive responsibilities either.

I said 46 earlier. I agree it won’t be 50 though.
