  1. Sorry, I’m confusing you. The £2.4m and £12.4m figures are “lost revenues” from the £30.3m peak in 18/19, not losses per se, e.g. £27.9m revenue in 19/20 and £18.9m in 20/21.
  2. I could probably counter all of these points with a strong argument. We sit on opposite sides of the fence re Nige so that’s fine. Ill just take the top one as one to discuss / debate: Re Martin, have you noticed that as a certain Antoine Semenyo has come back from injury and got his match fitness, Martin has become less involved. Martin (top) Semenyo (bottom): A gradual phasing out of the “old” in with the “new”. To me that suggests that he’s kinda been forced to “flog” Martin because he wanted a physical presence in some shape or form up top. Until Semenyo was back fit and firing he had to “over-use” Martin. Wells has made token appearances from the bench but did start 4 on the trot without scoring (Forest L, West Brom L, Barnsley W, Brum L). I didn’t think Martin should’ve played as much as he did, but maybe we are seeing why. Antoine had a set-back when he first came back this season, perhaps had that not happened we’d have seen an earlier transition away from Martin. I think your second and fifth points contradict each other by the way! I think I accept that a manager won’t get it right all the time. I think he made mistakes on Saturday, I think he was wrong to play Towler too, but I genuinely do not see mistakes week in week out. You surely have to bare in mind where we are on a rebuild. We don’t even have a squad to play any set system with some form of square peg somewhere. That’s the reality imho. Good to debate though. ?
  3. Quantuma were a bit bullish weren’t they when they got appointed! I guess they get paid so they won’t care.
  4. I think the problem is most fans can’t see beyond mainly black and white views of a player, when in reality most players are somewhere in between. I don’t think Callum is a bad player at all, but I also don’t think he’s a good player either. In our current squad in our current “project” he ought to be in the Match Day 18. He ought to start some as a result of that “status”, whether you or I see him as first choice or not. If we assume he’s on £12k-15k p.w then you can then apply a view as to whether we are getting value for money at that wage or not (the answer is “note imho), but we must also be cognisant that he signed that contract in Sept 2019 and the world has changed…so it’s not his fault he’s paid that much in today’s world. However we ARE in today’s world NOW and wages have decreased. So the decision becomes, is he good enough to want to keep? If yes, what is the agreeable wage for both parties. It seems from what @brad blithas said that we most definitely aren’t going to exercise the club’s one year option and there is a difference of opinion in worth / value. Callum in turn might think he’s worth more and decide he is gonna leave this summer, he might already have sounded out possible option (I don’t blame him). Depending on how far apart City and O’Dowda are, City should have a replacement(s) in mind and understand the total cost of that player. Someone like Anthony Scully (@Lorenzos Only Goal) might fit the bill and with only a year left on his contract in the summer, might be possible to bring it at the right price, plus at 23 (in April) he has longevity too. Its a big set of moving cogs I guess.
  5. Suspect he’s on a bit more than £2.5k p.w ??? Spot on @Pezo
  6. Remember seeing his first at Southampton….I guess they were in Lg1 then and thinking he was unplayable at that level.
  7. Even if they’d not triggered it, he wouldn’t be free this window…only sign pre-contract “abroad” (non E&W), so I think he got a bit ahead of himself. Contracts can have all sorts of clauses, Player to trigger (less common), club to trigger (more common), both to trigger (less common), auto trigger based on event (common). I believe we did with Wilbs, yes.
  8. What other elementary mistakes has he made game after game…or is this an exaggeration?
  9. You’ve got to be able to do both! The other thing I bleat on about a lot is against big strong aerial threats, you have to jump a split second earlier than normal. It sounds stupid, but an ex-pro taught me that. It stops them using any contact as leverage, or in Mitrovic’s case a little “push” to stop you jumping at all or mistiming it. He’s bloody good at it, and in fairness to Kalas he usually does get up early (sometimes loses his balance as a result), but Vyner often doesn’t get off the ground at all as a result.
  10. He still is raw in many respects, but the manager and coaching staff are polishing him gradually.
  11. I think the important nuance being to this is, whilst there is an automatic trigger after 25 games to extend his one year contract by another 12 months, Swansea had the option to trigger it themselves early. Which is what they’ve done. The 25 game trigger is probably inserted more to protect Pato having comeback from injuries, e.g. he plays a good amount and therefore gets another year to acknowledge he’s done ok. As it happens, Swansea have used their right to trigger it. Gives them a bit of protection too if Pato smashes it, which he has. Both parties agreed to it and signed it. Having heard stories in the summer about Pato / his agent I’d suggest he thinks about whether his agent is that good. There were stories of him getting £20k p.w at Stoke. Never happened. A failed trial at Boro…or was he asking too much? Then trying to use Coventry to get more money out of Swansea. Suck it up, I say. Unlucky Kentucky!
  12. I’m not sure their team does cost a fraction of ours? Bielik £8-10m big wage Lawtence £5m big wage Joswiak £3.5m Rooney £5m p.a. In wages don’t forget! Just got rid of Marshall who was allegedly on £25k p.w, Shinnie who I saw earlier was possibly on as much as £15k p.w. I do agree that their squad cost less than ours but not as much as you’d think….imho. They have significant quality in their squad don’t forget….they don’t need the violins out just yet! ?
  13. I believe it is a club option…so you’re safe!!!
  14. I think he was replying that a post was already created in the transfer section, not rudely saying where the post should be put. That’s how I read it ??
  15. Yep, agree. Johnson, Holden nor Pearson have been able to get Vyner to be more physical though! Whatever goal it was where Mitrovic stood his ground under a high ball in the centre circle was a prime example of a defender not willing to “get physical”. It was a prime opportunity to either get in position and be fouled or have the advantage on a header challenge. Zak did neither, Mitrovic took a bad touch sideways, but he shouldn’t have even got that much on it. I like Zak as it goes, just not centrally against a physical opponent…prefer him RB or RCB3.
  16. Very interesting to know the terms of 32Red’s sponsorship, e.g. how dependent is it on Rooney?
  17. No, I don’t believe that is the case, just stories. As far as I understand, 32Red increased their sponsorship deal, which in turn allowed Derby to pay Rooney. If Rooney walked, he’d be doing Derby a huge favour….I see no way they save his £100k p.w. For Everton to appoint him as manager and absolve Derby from paying him would be a huge boost to saving them. In fairness to Rooney he’s doing a v.decent job, but he has got some star players like Lawrence, CKR, a group of talented youngsters aided by Davies and Jagielka (now left) at his disposal. They’ve avoided injuries too. On Quest he came across well, sticking to football not insolvency.
  18. A bit more context to the post-match press comments.
  19. Was gonna ask you if you’d heard, following your ITK on Cam. I like the sound of those conversations…I.e. no chance of exercising option at current wage.
  20. Dun, dun, dun…..Liam Rosenior. Had kinda hoped he’d get involved here when the Hughton appointment seemed possible.
