  1. No he didn’t, but I think CR might well be ITK here.
  2. Sad news, but glad news in a funny way. Just had a little one havent they, so hopefully he’s done enough over the years to be relatively set up for life. Best wishes Bakes.
  3. Comments from a guy who was recently in the Wigan Recruitment team.
  4. Really? Probably off on loan? (Guess)
  5. It’s why I’m surprised Atkinson didn’t start on Saturday. I feel like I have our defensive set-pieces the kiss of death with my recent analysis of our corner set-up.
  6. A moot point now, but did Mel think minus 9 would threaten their hopes of staying in the Champ, therefore why not go the whole hog, take minus 12, and then start again in Lg1? Because as it stands minus 9 would be a completely different ball-game!
  7. Alex Scott and Tommy Backwell, both ex-Saints, maybe same age-group? Is Louis Carey still there?
  8. We have a triallist!!! 1-0 up, Bell backheel from a Conway cross.
  9. Second time in a week he’s talked some sense, which adds up to twice in his life! ???
  10. Nige has said a few things recently along the lines of: have you seen him? He’s massive! Then going on to explain that it’s a big body putting load through the knee, so they’re taking it steady. I don’t think Nige is thinking that as soon as he’s ready he will chuck straight in, but there may be a point that he may get game time here. I wonder if that’s what he meant when he said that Robbie needs to be flexible. I kinda read that to be that his contract runs out in the summer, he wants to go out and play somewhere to show Nige that he deserves another year (or impress another club, should City let him go OOC), but Nige is wary of doing that in case he is needed here. Rock and a hard place for player and club / Nige.
  11. Yep, exercising Bakinson’s contract signed as a 20 year old in 2019 is gonna be at a relatively low wage you’d suspect whilst still developing. Very different to exercising Callum’s, signed in 2019 aged 24.
  12. I thought the one they did re Covid (those who passed away since spectators couldn’t attend) was brilliant and emotional. Suggest something like start of season and new year.
  13. Before Saturday’s round:
  14. Listening to Kieran Maguire / Price of Football pod….he said he’s spoken to people at Derby and that they are furious with Mel Morris. He then said surprised at Quantuma getting the gig as they’d only ever done one football insolvency before, but that none of the big insolvency companies would touch it with a barge pole! Elephant in the room - Derby don’t own the stadium. Why didn’t he put that into administration and sell the lot as a package. Also Section 71 (???) allows an administrator to sell an asset linked to the company to help find a bidder. Reference to Sheffield Utd’s out of court settlement from West Ham re Tevez in terms of the Wycombe / Boro compo claims. Worth a listen @Mr Popodopolous, especially that last bit where if EFL judge claim not worthy, Wycombe and Boro could sue EFL and then all 71 clubs would be pissed off. Suggests Mike Ashley or whoever should seek an indemnity from the administrators that they are not liable for the debts of Derby. Mel could underwrite and it all goes away.
  15. Good article, but i don’t believe it necessarily needs both to sign off. In many contracts you just notify the other party you’ve executed the clause / term that was in the original contract (which of course will’ve been signed by both parties). You’d issue both parties with the new terms for their records, that’s all.
  16. Sorry, I’m confusing you. The £2.4m and £12.4m figures are “lost revenues” from the £30.3m peak in 18/19, not losses per se, e.g. £27.9m revenue in 19/20 and £18.9m in 20/21.
  17. I could probably counter all of these points with a strong argument. We sit on opposite sides of the fence re Nige so that’s fine. Ill just take the top one as one to discuss / debate: Re Martin, have you noticed that as a certain Antoine Semenyo has come back from injury and got his match fitness, Martin has become less involved. Martin (top) Semenyo (bottom): A gradual phasing out of the “old” in with the “new”. To me that suggests that he’s kinda been forced to “flog” Martin because he wanted a physical presence in some shape or form up top. Until Semenyo was back fit and firing he had to “over-use” Martin. Wells has made token appearances from the bench but did start 4 on the trot without scoring (Forest L, West Brom L, Barnsley W, Brum L). I didn’t think Martin should’ve played as much as he did, but maybe we are seeing why. Antoine had a set-back when he first came back this season, perhaps had that not happened we’d have seen an earlier transition away from Martin. I think your second and fifth points contradict each other by the way! I think I accept that a manager won’t get it right all the time. I think he made mistakes on Saturday, I think he was wrong to play Towler too, but I genuinely do not see mistakes week in week out. You surely have to bare in mind where we are on a rebuild. We don’t even have a squad to play any set system with some form of square peg somewhere. That’s the reality imho. Good to debate though. ?
  18. Quantuma were a bit bullish weren’t they when they got appointed! I guess they get paid so they won’t care.
  19. I think the problem is most fans can’t see beyond mainly black and white views of a player, when in reality most players are somewhere in between. I don’t think Callum is a bad player at all, but I also don’t think he’s a good player either. In our current squad in our current “project” he ought to be in the Match Day 18. He ought to start some as a result of that “status”, whether you or I see him as first choice or not. If we assume he’s on £12k-15k p.w then you can then apply a view as to whether we are getting value for money at that wage or not (the answer is “note imho), but we must also be cognisant that he signed that contract in Sept 2019 and the world has changed…so it’s not his fault he’s paid that much in today’s world. However we ARE in today’s world NOW and wages have decreased. So the decision becomes, is he good enough to want to keep? If yes, what is the agreeable wage for both parties. It seems from what @brad blithas said that we most definitely aren’t going to exercise the club’s one year option and there is a difference of opinion in worth / value. Callum in turn might think he’s worth more and decide he is gonna leave this summer, he might already have sounded out possible option (I don’t blame him). Depending on how far apart City and O’Dowda are, City should have a replacement(s) in mind and understand the total cost of that player. Someone like Anthony Scully (@Lorenzos Only Goal) might fit the bill and with only a year left on his contract in the summer, might be possible to bring it at the right price, plus at 23 (in April) he has longevity too. Its a big set of moving cogs I guess.
  20. Suspect he’s on a bit more than £2.5k p.w ??? Spot on @Pezo
  21. Remember seeing his first at Southampton….I guess they were in Lg1 then and thinking he was unplayable at that level.
  22. Even if they’d not triggered it, he wouldn’t be free this window…only sign pre-contract “abroad” (non E&W), so I think he got a bit ahead of himself. Contracts can have all sorts of clauses, Player to trigger (less common), club to trigger (more common), both to trigger (less common), auto trigger based on event (common). I believe we did with Wilbs, yes.
