  1. I remember a PNE scout coming down to watch one of our strikers at Brislington who’d been banging the goals in. He allegedly asked someone which player it was, saw the player was slightly greying so asked how old he was. 32 was the reply. “Ah, bollocks, heard he was 19”…got in his car and drove off.
  2. Semenyo now 22. ??? A good list…Jacob Greaves is on my watch list…bugger, hoped he’d stay under the radar.
  3. Comes to something when you don’t even pay the St Johns ambulance bill….and the fans whip round and pay it for you. I guess any business providing services / goods to a football club ought to ensure their payment terms are sound, and they understand the impact of long term non-payment. I know that’s easy to say.
  4. Wilder doing a good job isn’t he….good manager, good appointment. If Boro go up the season Derby go down, Gibson will be a happy man.
  5. I remember that. God knows why I turned off of the main Wells Road which was fine to take a short cut through the Happy Landings lights. I applied the brakes, nothing happened apart from the start of a slide down towards West Town Lane, across West Town Lane, and cosied up nicely against the hedge of the Imperial Ground. No damage done, the kerb slowed me down, but I learned to stick to main roads in snowy, icy conditions after that!
  6. Fixed. Mel Morris could’ve paid the debts and taken the points deductions (and relegation). He could have negotiated with Gibson and Couhig. It would not surprise me if Gibson seeing Derby relegated might see that as part compensation and accept a lower amount. Morris could then trying to sell the club and ground as a Lg1 club. As a Lg1 club, on a sounder footing he may well have got some of his money back. Instead, he put Derby into administration and pretty much washed his hands of it.
  7. Ohhhh, flipping heck…I live in Downend, and heard about this last week. So sorry for your loss, I can’t imagine what you’re going through. DM open if I can be of any help.
  8. I just plucked a year at random, hadn’t done the maths….I chose a leap year, I.e. his birthday is every 4 years!
  9. Born on the 29th Feb 1986 ?
  10. I can’t see them resolving this. Think they’re gonna be liquidated.
  11. Really enjoyed that Dave @headhunter, he has really fond memories of his whole career. Great listen ??????
  12. I think you’re right. Remember seeing one of @1960maaan’s YouTube videos of that season, and it missed the chest pass.
  13. Really good player was Rob, Mr Versatile, who became even better at Norwich City. Scored one of the best goals I’ve seen live at AG…40 yard volley from a Joe Jordan chest pass past Roger Freestone versus Newport in 87. It was the last time we played Newport.
  14. Rooney “I think clubs are taking advantage of our situation”. In fairness he’s handled himself well, but unfortunately they started it, they took advantage if other clubs by cheating. It’s come home to roost. Seems to be a feeling they can raise enough to get them through the season, get relegated, start on minus 15 in Lg1 and ignore Boro and WW. At some point before next season they are going to have to address this.
  15. Whether it’s because I’ve seen the newsreel several time, but that seems to have vivid memories, but I don’t remember much about the matches around that time.
  16. He put some thought into the answers, which I liked. He has been good on Robinstv too, a good appreciation of the game.
  17. I think the SPL is growing. We are seeing quite a lot of players coming “down south” and doing well, certainly at Championship level. We’ve had the likes of McGinn at Villa, Tierney at Arsenal, but now seeing Christie and Hedges too. Plus Dykes (although an Aussie), Souttar, C.Paterson, Campbell and McKenna. I’ve probably missed several. They are also operating under slightly different work permit rules, i.e. they still have an exceptions panel and this is allowing them to bring in players that “we” can’t.
  18. I was 11, don’t remember loads about it, except thinking City might not be around any longer and Rovers fans at school taking the pi$$.
  19. Carlisle manager is Agent Keith Millen.
  20. Jon….Wyscout attributed the offside to COD. I think it’s very tight…his head might be offside, but that’s the only thing I can see, unless the Lino is a split second late tracking the point of the pass, in which case he’s just offside. Even VAR might struggle to get their lines right on this one! Martin not influencing play. It can’t be Martin though.
  21. It’s a funny one….I’m pretty critical of refs….for getting lots of little things wrong. Those that get the little things wrong, usually get the big things wrong too, i.e. they are all-round incompetent. This guy I thought got the bits and pieces right, but bottled the big decisions.
  22. Probably because the Holding Company has been used previously by other clubs (Spurs were the first I think - Irving Scholar days), and therefore a precedent set….whilst maybe SL thinks it’s an effective way to structure the business.
