  1. Thanks. So a number of us can’t have a different opinion then? Come on? ?? Aggressive? Occasionally, usually against Birmingham! ? he rarely battered his CB opponent, allowed himself to be knocked off the ball far too often. If I was a Championship CB I wouldn’t be worried about the physical battle with Fam I can tell you. Didn’t use his size. As per my other posts I don’t he really fitted the target man profile, just that he was big. Better drifting into the left-half and facing up his man that back to goal. Have we lost set-piece goals at the near post when he’s not played in the past or this season? He did a good job there but I don’t think Martin has done any worse, but it doesn’t get picked up on. He was a match winner on occasion, granted. Overall he disappointed me, not just the last 3-4 months, capable of more imho.
  2. I think you’ve just made me choose my Q. ”when Gary Weaver broadcast on Sky that the Bristol City CEO had told him that owner wouldn’t sell Diedhiou because we’d see our value on the pitch - did you actually say that, and do you think you did get value”
  3. Would love to see your workings!
  4. Obviously I was a bit young back then, but I didn’t know they weren’t the same person. Ta.
  5. Martin really needs to be a “play 2 rest 1” type of player….needs to be sharp…and that’s different from being fit, which he is this season. Personally I wouldn’t have played a back 3 the other night, because bar our spell second half, we couldn’t get our midfield close to CM and AW to pick up loose balls. It wasn’t the back 3 that was the problem per se, but playing a flat 3 in midfield. I think James has been at his best with King or Massengo alongside him, where he can join up when it’s his turn. Bakinson left side of a three didn’t really work because he wants to do his work with the play in front of him. Williams was decent though. I just think we are better structured in a 442/4411, especially with narrow wide midfielders….that in theory should allow Tanner and Dasilva to overlap without us feeling exposed.
  6. Showed how good he was playing CM top-flight for Norwich. Was a key player for them in their euro glory days. Always reminded me of Desperate Dan with his chin.
  7. I remember a quiz question about Jack and Bobby Charlton managing against each other in the FA Cup (PNE v Wednesday) and that it next happened when Alan and Brian Little faced each other (York v Villa).
  8. He is in no way a villain, just misguided in who he trusts to run and make decisions about the football club, which includes himself. Financial prudence, playing by the rules is great, but there is another way too….as fans wouldn’t we have liked a bit of glory alongside a bit of mis-management, e.g. Tan at Cardiff. I’m a bit mixed on him. He hasn’t given the money to us….I still see it as an overall investment (with the Bristol Sport, land, housing, etc). Others love him, some don’t.
  9. We can agree to disagree….Wells imho still put a shift in playing out of position. Still ended up as our top scorer too, despite playing 40%+ on the left wing. But Wells doesn’t smile, nor does he beat his chest in front of the South Stand, nor come from Knowle! ?
  10. No, your not the only person, just that several of us, me included have different opinions. My opinion was that after his first season, he pretty much had spells where it looked like LJ had to give him a “rocket up the arse” to get him playing. When he came back from 6 game ban he was good, then drifted back into being a bit complacent. He lost his place a couple of times, but came back resurgent, then dropped off again. My view was he got his profile up, was looking for the next big move, and coasted a bit. I’m not saying he didn’t try, but he wasn’t putting it all in either. I also don’t think we played to his strengths either, but that’s another story. His final months here were a disgrace imho.
  11. By all accounts? You were there! ??? I honestly thought before pre-season he would move on. But he had a good pre-season and surprised me a bit. But, not enough to think he’ll be good enough for us as a wide player. He’d be better down the middle, he’s a finisher. He’s got the knack. Would at least like to see him central before writing him off. Nige not impressed with his off the ball stuff v FGR.
  12. My fave City LB….an we’ve had some good ones.

Yours was far more comprehensive. Can be allowed with refs consent.
  14. The venue of my penultimate game of football. I played in goal, drew 0-0.
  15. Probably….based on how they’ve played and who I would prefer. Bentley Tanner | Kalas | Atkinson | Dasilva Massengo | Williams | James | Pring Weimann | Wells

    TV tonight

I rarely watch red button, prefer Robinstv, but don’t forget HD can be of differing quality levels….depending on bit rate etc. For example when testing HD historically, BBC Alba was the go to channel, as their HD bit rates were superior to other channels.

If you have Sky Q, red button should be HD unless you pause / rewind, etc.
  18. I’m not gonna blame Callum last night, first game back, wasn’t even named on the bench initially. I’m not gonna blame him for a overhit cross on the run. I thought he drifted in off the left ok, laid the ball off on the dribble, but essentially going slightly backwards, but kept the ball moving. I do fear his marker nicking the ball off him when he does that, he allows his opponent to get a sniff of the ball as he doesn’t use his body, nor does he shift ball onto his right side to make a tackle on him impossible without a foul. In the same respect as above about body position on dribbles, he does the same when he closes down / tackles. He gives away little unnecessary fouls on the touchline when his opponent is going nowhere or about to turn over possession. It’s frustrating. That happened a couple of times last night. When your desperate to not let the opposition suck the life out of the game, giving away cheap fouls and throw-ins when an aimless punt forward from an under pressure wingback gets us the ball back does my head in. He has to overcome this….we see it whether it’s a 36 minute sub appearance or a start. He has ability, but this type of stuff overshadows it.
  19. Yes. I expected middle-eight, kinda hoped for 13th. We will improve too as tweaks are made, players evolve partnerships etc.
  20. Thought it was two teams of predominantly 6/10s, with the odd 7/10 and a few 5/10s. We had a good spell in the second half, but I think the loss of Dasilva and Williams (two of our better players) lost us momentum.
