It's disappointing that KP hasn't realised his full potential. But he can be exciting and creative and if we're committed to paying millions for him over the coming years, we ought to be doing all we can to help him reach his potential.

I'd rather watch him giving it a go - and hopefully settling into some form - than watch Chris Martin lumbering about ineffectively.

Now if you’d have said KP having a go rather than watching Bakinson lumber around ineffectively then I’d 100% of been with you!!

  2. I’ve been a big fan of Kasey but have to admit that I’ve run out of patience with him. We all know that technically he’s our best player and think there is a myth around he doesn’t work as he certainly does but as mentioned is it always effective.  The biggest surprise to me was the exclusion from the Jamaica team after one game with the squad since his debut containing players with lower ranked teams.  I think the Forest game was tipping point as believe that he got sucked into ball watching and allowed the Forest player to make the pass that brought the penalty.  If you believe the rumours Pearson ripped him a new one after game & not in squad since.

I watched him against QPR U23s last week. They had an experienced side and he didn’t really do anything to push for a first team start.

In fairness, city had hardly any of the ball so bad game to make any judgement on.  Despite that he still managed to have 3 shots & personally thought he was a lot fitter than I’ve seen him before & our only threat. Not saying he’s a starter but he definitely has goals in him

When Martin is getting bullied, getting nothing from the referee, getting little service apart from long balls, you e really got to question whether it’s worth having him on the pitch (apart from goal-line clearances!).  There were different options available today that would have improved what we had out there from an hour onwards.

And as you say getting Weimann alongside Wells and a someone like Scott on would've been better.

Honestly believe he only stayed on for defensive duties & we can’t be picking a forward based on that.  This isn’t an anti Martin post as seen him play very well this season but we needed energy & was out on his feet.

  5. Bizarre substitution and you give him a debut when coasting a game not when under the cosh.  He’s a play maker/dribbler  but we never had any of the ball and all we can judge him on is his defensive ability which admittedly wasn’t great.  He’s a massive talent & don’t let’s judge him on today as Pearson got his debut completely wrong.

  6. Had pleasure of watching recent u23 home games and despite the loss, it was a very inexperienced team who battled to the end.  Without Wiles Richards it would have been a heavy defeat as he was excellent.  Thought that Knight Label for 16 stuck at it & did well & Omar Taylor Clarke came out with credit and certainly hits a great dead ball.

Soady in flashes looks top quality then will be sloppy in possession and weak.  Needs to add consistency to his game but I’d say another contract is in the balance.

Britton - mixed game from him but 100% has something but I’d say way off first team at this stage

Was very surprised to not see Pearson, Janneh & possibly Benarous (but get he’s edging closer to selection )involved today as how do we keep them match fit if they are not playing.

Enjoyable afternoon and least the young lads never chucked it in and kept going

  7. Now I’m as equally frustrated on here as the next person but how the hell can Pearson legislate for Baker and Bents soft hands and a missed handball. Forest had no shots on target until pen in 2nd half and if we hold on for a 1-0 then Pearson would be lauded as a tactical genius as game plan worked.

Fine margins & whilst gutted as it’s déjà vu after Blackpool &Luton some of the reaction on here is way OTT. The biggest mistake was not getting a striker in on loan in last window as zero options from bench or to rotate. I can direct some anger towards that !

  8. On a side note anyone know what’s happened to James Morton. Not seen him feature since his move to MK broke down. I’m not saying he’s anywhere near first team ready but just seems to have disappeared unless I’ve missed an update on him?

  9. NP got team selection wrong as king/James were never going to be or are mobile enough to compete in a 2 & clearly needed help especially when against 3.. The subs were completely wrong with Wells playing wide right ridiculous, then changing shape & leaving Weimann as a 10 when he had undoubted energy but is he creative? Finally, bemused by bringing in our least mobile player in Bakinson when we were already over run.

Saw a stat in post today that said we only committed 4 fouls all game & that tells you everything you need to know about Saturday. No tackles or even a reducer attempted to even try something to stop Bournemouth from having freedom of the park. We’re they that good we couldn’t get near them?

    Really can’t work him out.

He just ambles around & one excellent defence splitting pass aside, it was like having 9 men when King went off.

Be amazed if he starts v Forest, even if Williams (a certainty), HNM & King are all absent.

Said it on another thread I’d much rather have Vyner in the squad than him, he just doesn’t work hard enough.

Agree & the occasional good pass aside, he just cannot get around the pitch, doesn’t tackle and was a ridiculous sub by Pearson as he brought on the least mobile player in the squad when we are being over run.

That was a small positive for me.  If he’d really torn it he wouldn’t have attempted it.  Will have to wait and see now.  Fingers crossed for him.

The part I’m struggling with is why did the physio allow Williams to try and run it off? As you say, if it was that serious, Williams himself wouldn’t have tried as knows his body better than anyone and a physio allowing that must be confident that he could try.  Hope it’s good news for him and didn’t he pull up in similar circumstances v FGR, so hopefully it’s not too bad again.  Bloke could do with a bit of luck after everything & we could certainly do with him fit.

Believe as you wish Marcus. I know many that were down there and the story they tell is a very different one to that portrayed, even to the extent of media asking people to do certain things for the sake of a 'good' picture.

I know who I believe out of mates of 35 years and the press.

Was in Bilbao in 82 & England fans and locals were getting on brilliantly but the press were offering £50 to throw a brick through the window as nothing to report about.

  13. Genuinely interested in knowing how many people have been assaulted at a game whilst trying to avoid trouble?  My own personal experience over some 50 years is that you can avoid trouble if you want to. I’m not saying that you can avoid threatening situations but if you go mute when asked the time and are respectful of the place you are visiting then in the main, you’ll be fine.

Agree, there is nothing to suggest that Britton’s attitude is poor….but his fitness is.  He’s come from Mangotsfield Utd, so not been through Academy full-time training until he joined here.  His 30 months here will have improved his fitness but he’s

Let’s cut Louis some slack as got injured in last u23 game v Brum and wasn’t at Loughborough due to it.  Had to start behind everyone else & fitness improving by the day but agree it needs to improve and is.   Why people suggest attitude issues is beyond me without any knowledge.

    Interesting.

Can’t make these games these days, so what do you make of Janneh? We seem to be playing him as a wing back at times but in addition to the 2 he got at Forest Green, he scored a cracker for the 23s at Sheff U, he certainly has pace (which we lack), not worth having on the bench in the absence of Semenyo?

Well he’s certainly explosive in terms of pace & gives us something different as don’t think he even knows what he’s going to do next. Played one game as a full back after early sending off and was very very good. Next game he was moved up front and missed a boat load of chances but was in the right places.   Overall, I thought he has played well & for the wild card off the bench then I’d include him.

@Lrrr I’ll defer to you as know you’ve seen a lot more of him.  As for Bell, just seen him twice and he seems to be playing wide rather than central but as you say he scores & is certainly another with pace.

Bell can barely get on the bench and Conway is injured.  Assuming Pearson knows what he is doing, Bell isn’t ready yet.  Was certainly way off the standard against FGR.  Just chucking two kids up front just because they play in the position that you think needs a change isnt the answer. Hopefully Semenyo and Wells are fit again soon. Better off rotating them, Martin and Weimann than playing Bell

Having watched u23s a couple of times recently & based on that alone Bell is miles off the first team and not even shining at that level.  Let’s just hope Wells is fit and it was precautionary last night

Yep, but I lost count of the times he watched James put in a challenge, cover a runner, win an aerial battle, he simply didn’t do anywhere near enough.

Delighted for Williams & agree he can help James & I for one wouldn’t rule Andy King out, if he has more of a bit part role he won’t let us down.

Totally right re Palmer, very smart by Nige today & it paid off.

Bakinson cannot play in a 2 as has zero mobility.  No doubt he has talent when passing but when we play 4-4-2 he should be no where near the team.

Correct. Was Jack Walker’s team - Tower Utd or something like that on Jersey.

When I was at Stockwood Green we drew them away but had to win the prior round match first. Pretty sure we lost and thought we’d missed out on an away trip. Later found out it was BS and hadn’t drawn them at all.

    Recall that @Shuffle?

Yes do remember that & we were desperate as you say for an away weekend
