Usyk was by far the better fighter but I don't care what anyone says, Dubois should be world champ now. That was not a low blow Usyk milked it as he was stopped with the shot. Shouldn't have been given a 3 min break, should have been counted out on the floor .

    Fury will starch Usyk

Don't think we'll ever get to find out unfortunately.

The big money argument doesn't even hold much water anymore because these guys make astronomical amounts for average fights so don't really need it.

Sadly it'll be another one to add to the long list of fights that didn't happen or happened far too late over this generation of boxing.

I'd love to see some rules put in place to stop greedy promoters letting their egos get in the way of these events.

  2. Settling for Talksport tonight, getting to prefer it actually than the dodgy streams that cut in and out. Wouldn't be able to see the screen anyway with all the tears in my eyes after today's performance.

    Hope you're all well.

As you say good for Cashflow….but only gets distributed into the accounts as as when games are played, so only a 1/10 of the revenue goes into each year.

Is that right? I didn't know that. There's an argument currently going on Owlstalk about the reason you can't pay with a credit card. One guy is adamant that it's because the credit card would likely expire during the 10 year period, and others calling it a cash grab.

For those that can afford it though it's a good deal because the 10 years don't start counting down until we reach the Premier League, so in theory if we didn't get there for another 10 seasons then it'll last for 20 years.

If you sit on the South stand it'll set you back 8 grand, and on top of that you'd be gambling that any future owner honours the details above.

Oh eyebrow raising. One for you @Owl Visiting

Can't begin to unpick but read reports of a potential £30m loss in 2023-24?? Chansiri reportedly said this, guess Sheffield Wednesday have a blockbuster last 7 weeks before the end of the summer window lined up.

Until the accounts are out for last year:

    Club Group:

    Sheffield Wednesday (Club)

Sheffield 2 Limited (Parent or top co above club).

    Stadium Group:

Sheffield 3 Limited (Stadium Company Owner of Hillsborough).

Sheffield 5 Limited (Company that owns the Stadium Company)

    All due end of July.

Then it's really quite hard to say.

It's all very worrying at the moment, the club announced yesterday that they're introducing 10 year season tickets again, cash up front. Whilst it's a good deal for any individual fan that's lucky enough to be able to afford it, it's just more kicking the can down the road and spending tomorrow's money.

As for the 30 million losses I haven't a clue why it's that much, I know Hillsborough is an expensive old stadium to run but I'm not sure how that is a factor. I imagine the wage bill is pretty modest by Championship standards too, only really Bannan on high wages left at the club.

Rumours have been around for a while that Chansiri has little money left to put in, and his behaviour over the last few weeks looks very much that way.

Only one signing so far, and that's a loan player from last season, as it stands we're actually weaker than when in League One when you take into account the players that were released.

Any idea if he really asked for four times his current salary, or is this just a smokescreen?

I suppose there must be some truth in it or Chansiri would be putting himself in a tricky situation legally.

It's difficult to know how reasonable Moore's apparent demands were though without knowing the actual numbers. I've read a few people calling him greedy, but four times his wage may well have been the going rate for a Championship manager.

Really don't feel this becoming public was at all necessary though, the fans would have moved on from Moore when someone new is (eventually) appointed.

Moore will go to Barnsley when Duff takes the Swansea job…

Feels very likely that doesn't it. Bizarre considering both clubs have just played each other in a playoff final.

If Duff wasn't on his way to Swansea they might even have ended up swapping roles.

Thanks and that is surprising for N exec but also figures. I remember watching one or two communications by him during Covid...they were interesting!

Yeah heard Chansiri can get a bit animated for sure. I remember reading about him declaring the club up for sale but the swearing bit I didn't know of.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46630885

    This the one?

I also remember reading of one  whereby he declared that Sheffield Wednesday night have been same season, he declared that FFP had been failed by a huge amount. Think back in 2018.

Pitch invaders on a non matchday? Drunken hi jinks

    Yep, that's the one.

The last couple of seasons as things have gone well on the pitch, he's been quiet in the background and quite a large percentage of the fans were even coming round to forgiving him for the previous debacle. Sadly it feels like it's all been undone again the last few days, and it's back to worrying about the future of the club again.

I can imagine it was a bit heated, lively?

Surprisingly it's Chansiri himself that tends to get most animated at these events, he gets very annoyed when ticket pricing comes up. He got so angry at one a couple of years ago he announced in the middle of it he'd sell the club. Some of the fans even had to ask him to stop swearing.

Apparently the people kicked out last night was for being too drunk and sounded like a couple of them tried to get on the pitch.

The night sounded like a complete waste of time.

The timing couldn't be better really as last week announced or last week or two, a Sheffield Wednesday Fans Forum and Chansiri will be there.

That could be very interesting I expect.

4 people managed to get themselves kicked out apparently, sounds like it's going well.

I always said every time the Leicester rumours surfaced that I would be far more worried if Wednesday were looking for a manager. ?

I think he's said in past he'd never manage us, he lives in Sheffield still I think (unless he's moved down your way now?) and I think he said something along the lines of he wouldn't want to spoil living here.

  11. I'm gutted, I thought it was a joke when I was initially told.

My early thoughts are he's left over budgeting concerns, but everyone is puzzled.

Worried now about who's going to come in.

Plymouth are bigger than Millwall and Preston.  Just so far from everyone else they get forgotten..

They've never been in the top flight at all though, Preston have had 46 years up there won two titles and two FA Cups.

Plymouth may the biggest club when you include the pre Premier League era though.

Memories of 1966 for me OV. Because we had only recently moved oop North the previous year, I used to stand on the Kop. Went to Wembley with the Old Man and we bought 'tout tickets' and ended up in the Everton end !! Next year got ST's in Cantilever Stand. Hoped Everton would come down and us win. Got 50% of what I hoped for !! 3-3 draws for Owls v Robins next year. Us top and Owls runners up ( got to be faithful to my first loves !!!)   WELCOME BACK

Wow that's going back, the cantilever stand was built for the 66 World Cup if I'm not mistaken so must have been brand new when you got your season ticket. As an additional bit of useless information the South stand which sits opposite was built for Euro 96. Hopefully at some point some serious work will be done on the ground as we're a million miles from hosting international football these days.

  14. WAHEYYY!!!

What a way to get promoted.

Awful game wasn't it? I thought we were really poor, Barnsley have our number this season and without that very dubious red card I don't think it'd have gone Wednesday's way today. I don't feel too sorry for them though as across the season we've been great.

When the goal went in it was a slightly strange moment, it came just a week after what was probably the most exciting and dramatic moment in any Wednesday fan's life and oddly today it was more shock and surprise than wild celebration.

Such a relief to be back in a decent division again though, and so glad I don't have to hear any more whinging about Forest Green!
