You are absolutely correct. We just need to get on with it

My point above was three positions needed strengthening It isn’t a case of either/or

I think people missed my point re goal keeper. It isn’t sensible, or wise, imo, to have zero competition for the jersey. This is unusual for City over the years and needs rectifying

Surely, judging by comments of people at the game, it is not just one defeat but the lack of quality in the team assembled over three matches. Three problems remain; two with us all summer, ie a goalkeeper and a goal scoring big centre forward. The third could have been foreseen, the sale of Scott - need for a creative midfielder. Am sure Nige is well aware of all this, but faces no alternative to O’Leary, and no money for the other two positions. I would have thought SL would want to leave a legacy on the pitch before he sells.

Simples. A decent new proven signing Will it happen? No Why not? The owner

My grandfather, who was at the match, always said the England centre forward (Man U) got the better, on the day, of the England centre half (Wedlock) and that in the end settled the game. PS He never lost his admiration for Wedlock, but he lived to see Atyeo in his heyday and those two were his all time City greats. I only saw Atyeo and know no one playing for City who can compare, save Billy Wedlock whom I wish I’d seen play

The blinkers falling off many on Otib. Some of us have been saying for years, even decades, that our biggest problem is the owner. I started a recent thread asking if Nige might walk. SL’s comments are not likely to be well received by NP. I also recently wrote on another thread that following our current policy it would take a near miracle of everything coming together in one season to gain promotion. This is not the Alan Dicks or Harry Dolman method of progression. Until new owners arrive we are destined to remain as we are until the inevitable bad season sees us back in the comfort of the old third division, and the depressing cycle continues once again.

We have to face it that this where decades of mediocrity, since the heyday of the old First Division, has left us. Hoping against hope that one season everything will come together and we achieve promotion. Hardly a plan that gives us encouragement.

Can this thread be cancelled, Moderators. It has clearly been proved that Scott was/is injured and it leaves a slur on Nige’s straight forward dealing. There is no point in allowing this ‘debate’ to continue
-
I still believe promotion for us will come only through luck, ie a season when our top player decides to stay for one more season, our cheap lower league buys all work out, and the youngsters brought in hit their potential immediately. Plus few injuries in the great scheme of things for all those to come together in one season is almost next to wishful thinking. of course, all might change under new owners

Anyone else concerned that Pearson sounds a bit browned off losing Scott and might walk if new funds aren’t provided. He himself seemed to have been kept in the dark as to whether he will have funds. A real test of SL’s commitment to club’s progression
